FM12 Weighing more leagues against computer performance

Hi

Just wondering what the general consensus is for adding more leagues when beginning a new game on FM12. Obviously you want the leagues you intend to manage in but adding more also increases the amount of 'football players' available to sign etc.

I really just want to manage in England but I want as many players as possible. I select the 'large database' always but are there other benefits of selecting other leagues other than the ones I've mentioned? My computer tends to slow down so the less leagues the faster I can go. I know this is alterable now in FM12.
