noikeee
I've got a fairly simple question, outside of user-created leagues with the editor (ie including only the leagues that come out of the box with the game), in which nations at which levels are there amateur teams that can be managed? Asking because at the moment my plan for FM13 is to do a journeyman career (again) but I want to start as low as possible, therefore with an amateur team, and I want to know my options prior to setting up the leagues for the game. Bjaart
I cant imagine there is a much lower place to start than the icelandic 2nd division.
Guest
The Belgian 3rd division is pretty much all amateur & has the added bonus of some crazy yet surprisingly fun promotion play-off rules.
Darandio
I don't believe they are amateur, but the Spanish 6th tier (Second Division B4) is good fun. Like above, the play-off structure is pretty unforgiving and even the team that finishes top doesn't get automatic qualification. Given that the promotion playoff pits you against teams from the division above, it's quite a challenge to achieve promotion. As I said, it may not be amateur so not exactly what you want, but I don't think there are many cases on the game where you can start 6 tiers down without adding custom playable leagues so it does fill your criteria. Kanukki
I don't believe they are amateur, but the Spanish 6th tier (Second Division B4) is good fun. Segunda B is good fun. But small correction - it is the 3rd tier, not the 6th. Segunda B is below La Liga BBVA (Primera) and Liga Adelante (Segunda), but is regionalized. So the numbers don't refer to sub-levels, but different regional leagues within the Segunda B tier (all at the same level). Tercera is below Segunda B, and also regionalized. Darandio
Ah ok, thanks for the clarification. Still a good challenge regardless.
AB-forever
Most teams in the Danish 2nd Division (3rd tier) are amateur.
Egor Snopkovsky
Also Queen's Park in Scottish 3rd Division
Things Could Get Messi
You can find amateur clubs in pretty much most of the Scandinavian countries if you look at their lower leagues.
Kanukki
Also Queen's Park in Scottish 3rd Division Which is 'permanently' amateur by club charter, iirc?
Nobby_McDonald
You are right Kanukki. Queen's Park will always be amateur and they are hard coded in the game to stay so.
dustShadowX
The Belgian 3rd division is pretty much all amateur & has the added bonus of some crazy yet surprisingly fun promotion play-off rules. The Belgian 3rd division teams are amateur in the sense that players have a full-time (or part-time) job in addition to being soccer players. They however all have regular contracts, the best are paid a wage and all have win- and scoring-bonuses. So the amateur statuses in FM12 (and I guess FM13) are a gross misrepresentation of real-life. The non-contracts would be a better, but not perfect, fit. I don't know about the duration of the contracts, but I guess 1 year is standard and longer ones are very rare. You can't poach players from lower league clubs during the season anyway due transfer window rules (which are correctly implemented in FM12).
