What is a normal frequency of red cards

Recommended Posts

As I'm not very much into real life football I've been wondering about how common it is to get red cards. Sofar in my game I have recieved 7 red cards in 22 games in the league. It seems like a lot to me since I play with easy to normal tackling and usually don't target opponent players with close marking or a lot closing down. Sofar I think all reds are from a second yellow, one would think that they would be more careful when booked once but apparently not. I have been looking into my players and their istructions to try and figure out a way to lower the number of red cards, any tips appreciated, but as said for all I know the numbers could be spot on.

Since you set your tackling on Default or Normal, you can do any of these:

- fine players (say, 1 week salary for a yellow, 2 week salary for a red...)

- declare it was disgraceful at press conferences

- train offensive players to stand on their feet when they tackle (not sure if FM13 still has this feature)

- substitute yellow-carded players during the match, before they get the second yellow...

about the frequency of red cards, you can check it in your league's "player analysis" which is announced every now and then during the game. There you can see what players get most yellows and reds.

In real soccer, I'd guess that one red every 20 matches (played by any given club) would be normal.

A one week salary fine for a yellow card?? Whoa! Glad I'm not a player in your team!

I tend to issue a warning for the first red card, then one week fine for the second etc... However, if the match report states that there was any controversy about the decision I won't due to the significant evidence of my player's innocence.
