In England at least, you can only offer contracts to players with 6 months left, who play in leagues outside England. Inside England, I think it's only the last month you can offer contracts. Or you can cheat... You can offer Athletic a ridiculous transfer amount and then offer Llorente a ridiculous contract. This would most likely result in Athletic and him accepting your terms and rejecting Arsenal. You can then reject the transfer once he has rejected arsenal and continue doing this every time a club offers him a contract. Wrong. It's only in England (to my knowledge) it works this way. In Spain it's possible for any Spanish team to snatch a player from another Spanish club 6 month before contract ends. Just make sure it the 31st of December (or 1st of January, can't remember). In two different saves I've seen Barcelona get Llorente on a free. They offered him a contract in January.
