Team and player instructions when using the TC, guidance, please.

Recommended Posts

I have made a formation and tactic using the Tactics Creator. I have done the players duties and roles and the teams philosophy, starting strategy, passing, creative freedom and all the rest. Now here is where I struggle. Going into the teams instruction screen, the sliders appear to be pre set, likewise with the players instruction screen for mentality, creative freedom, passing etc.Indeed they are all greyed out and pre set. What I need to know is this. Are thos settings as they are supposed to be for the tactic that has been set orare they just meant as a starting point? If so, what is the procedure for getting them into the best position? I hope that I have made this clear but I fear not. I can't do screenshots and i know that that would be much clearer.

The settings should all be what's best for that role/strategy you've choosen.

It also means you use the game shouts as you've not manually overwrote anything.

Thanks Cleon. I'm taking your first sentence to mean that whatever the presets are, is what they should be for whatever role/strategy and that I don't need to alter them. Why did I never get a brain?

Yeah. You'll notice if you change team strategy some of the pre-set individual role settings will also change to match the new stategy :)

You can alter them though if you wish if you think the roles aren't doing what you wish the player to be actually doing. But for balance and simplicity I hardly ever do that, I just use shouts or change strategy during the game to change how I'm playing :)

Not even Long Shots?

Thanks Cleon, again I am obliged. I usually knock off the long shot but for the best one I have, e.g. Premiership, long shots must be 15 and over and so on down the leagues. My normal tactics are for a possession based set up. I ask to keep possession, play out of defence, play through defence and work into the box. The theory being to not let the oppostion have the ball. I would like to say that this has brought unmitigated success but it hasn't of late.

I think that I have been trying to read too much into the tactics lately. i shall now follow your words to keep it simple. Kind regards.

I have personally had more success by not using the Retain Possession shout.

Using retain possession as well as the other options is a 'belt and braces' insurance against any rogue long shots. I have seen quite a few posts saying that in spite of doing all that is required to stop them, long shots are still happening.

I have found that a possible disadvantage of 'working the ball into the box', is that sometimes my players don't have a shot at all. My assistant then tells me that 'we are trying to walk' the ball into goal. Having a possession tactic sometimes can mean matches with few goals and I have won quite a few by 1-0.
