donkarlito
I have decided that for the rest of my journeyman save I would scrap my possession/tiki-taka style tactics and go back to basics, one attacking tactic, one controlling, and one counter attacking. My attack and control not got a problem with does what I want but not my counter this is how I thought would work using Bayern 2nd season. What I am aiming for for my team is this when i have the ball we drop deep we pass the ball at the back try and draw the opposition out then pass to my sort of QB style deep-lying playmaker to hit Scholsey like passes to my wingers or my fwd to run onto, also when I win the ball of the opposition we launch a counter straight away. But what I see is when we have the ball we keep but it that slow my DLP defend hasn't got space to receive the ball so it back to the keeper then a punt up field ball lost, the opposition i have a solid 2 banks of four and I win the ball im shouting at the screen loads of room on flanks pass it wide i shout and we start a slow build up back to keeper it goes opposition re-organises counter attack lost very frustrating. The formation i use is a 4-4-1-1 with two dm's GK- Standard GK RB & LB - Fullback - Support RCB - Centre Back - Defend LCB - Ball playing - Defend DMCR - Def mid - Support DMCL - DLP - Defend MR & ML - Wingers - Attack AMC - Advance playmaker - Support STC - Pocher - Attack Team instructions are Rigid Counter More Direct More Expressive the rest on default The shouts I have used are: Drop deep, play wider, retain possession pass into space Any suggestion on how to make this work or tips on making a good counter attacking tactic
Azz_88
I also have a journeyman save and was getting more failures than successes. Then I made simple counter 4-4-2 when I took over Cambridge who were 23rd in the conference after 17 games. I had 4-4-2 as follows: GK - Defend RB - FullBack - Defend LB - FullBack - Auto RCB/LCB - Limited Defender - Defend MCL - CM - Defend MCR - CM - Auto MR - Wide Midfielder - Attack ML - Wide Midfielder - Support STR - Deep Lying Striker - Support STL - Advanced Forward - Attack Team Instructions: Rigid Counter Aggresive Tackling Drill Crosses Rest on Default Shouts: Drop Deeper, Play Narrower (Adapted depending on width and line of opposition), OI tight marking and show on weaker foot for strikers of good teams and anyone player elsewhere with notible assists/goals for the season. Using this got me from 23rd after 17 games (when I took over) to 5th in the league including constantly beating the top teams on that ridiculous run to get to the play-offs and then won the play-offs. If we needed goals after going down or against weak opposition I would switch to get ball forward, push higher up and Attack (thats it). I've also targeted only players with at least 12 work rate, determination and teamwork. The tactic plays out where you dominate possesion and score a healthy mix of goals from out wide drilled in to the box for the striker to score, cm on auto coming forward and banging one in with a well timed run or deep lying playmaker and advanced forward linking up well with one-two's. It's the first time on the new FM I felt like I would beat everyone. Didn't get done on the wings by the opposition and my cb's didn't get done by pace as we were playing deep but they are good, aggressive tacklers which is important. When we didn't dominate possesion we scored a lot of goals because the two cm's are good tacklers and won the ball back for an old fashioned counter attack where we are attacking 2v2 or 2v1 after winning the ball. Give it a go...
