Walcott\'s Wonderkids
Week ending Sunday 2nd May 2010 Don’t normally report on these matters but it flashed before my eyes as I was waiting for the game to process… Samaras Taraldo has won the English Premier Division’s Young Player of the Month Award for April. Selim Atas has pulled his hamstring and will be out a week. The Champions League Semi Finals have now finished: Samaras Taraldo (7) played the whole game as Man Utd won 1-0 at home to Sampdoria to qualify for the final after a 2-0 agg win. Real Madrid progress 3-2 on agg against Liverpool after a 1-1 at the New Anfield. The UEFA Cup Semi Finals have now finished: Mastinho was an unused sub as Lyon lost 3-0 away to Vitesse. Vitesse go through to the final with a 3-0 agg win. Fenerbahce won 2-1 away to PSG to go through to the final 5-2 on agg.
Champions League Final Real Madrid v Man Utd UEFA Cup Final Vitesse v Fenerbahce
Player Cam for May will not happen in it’s usually form. Instead, I will focus on one off matches such as the English FA Cup Final of Arsenal v Liverpool and the Champions League Final. I'm afraid thats all for now folks and that's all there will be for a while as I'm moving into my new flat / going to the Reading Festival. Hopefully should be able to do an update next Monday or Tuesday at worst.
TeeWee
Good work mate! Can't wait for the big summer tournaments, time to shine! Wanted by Barca eh? Hmmm, interesting. I'm not quite sure which of those sides would be the better career choice: Barca is always an interesting side, but I'm having a good run at Milan as well. Though neither Barca nor Milan are having a good domestic season... Choices, choices.

Walcott\'s Wonderkids
Week ending Sunday 9th May 2010 Real Madrid has retained its La Liga title. Mastinho was not in the match day squad, but Lyon has lifted the French Cup after beating Toulouse 2-0 in the final. The English Premier Division has finished and Watford have been relegated after finishing 18th. Pablo Gonzalez has a cold and will out for a few days. Alvaro De Santiago has sprained his wrist and will out for a week. Turkus Mendieta has fractured his arm and is receiving specialist treatment for it. His World Cup may be in doubt as he will be out for about a month. Marcus Cook looks to be a major doubt for the World Cup this summer after spraining his ankle. He will out for 1-2 months and his place in the Turkmenistan squad must now be in doubt.

Liverpool think they have equalised through Dirk Kuyt after 39 minutes, but the goal is ruled out for an offside. HT: Arsenal 1 v 0 Liverpool Half Time Stats Denilson intercepts a clearance from Reina and tries to feed the ball through to Bendtner, the ball is blocked but falls to the feet of Henry and lashes a 20 yard half volley into the corner of the net. 2-0 and 55 minutes gone. Walcott\'s Wonderkids
Week ending Sunday 16th May 2010 Prof Frink has turned down the offer of a new contract with Rangers again. He is not happy with the base salary offered or the duration of the contract. Marcus Cook has had his recovery time improved. He will now be out for 3-4 weeks, giving him a 50-50 chance of going to the World Cup. Napoli boss Fabio Cannavaro has praised the performance of Bennitto Hagan in their match. However, Hagan has snubbed the praise. Vitesse have won the UEFA Cup 2010, beating Fenerbahce 4-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw aet. Arsenal have won the English FA Cup after beating Liverpool 4-0. The World Rankings for May have been released:
Turkmenistan 27th (1001 points) Up 7 places Kyrgyzstan 30th (970 points) Down 3 places
How both sides have changed so much considering neither team have played a game is beyond me. The Stanlies Cup 2010 is only a week away and the call ups for both teams have been announced: Kyrgyzstan have called up 13 superkids for the games. Bill, Benj + Ryan have all been withdrawn from the swuad by their clubs - Ryan because Serie A still has one game left to go. Turkmenistan have only called up 10 of their players, with Gareth Davies, Turkus Mendieta + Marcus Cook all injured. Selim Atas, Ghoolbi Dumats + Bennitto Hagan have all been withdrawn by their clubs.

David Frketic + Rhys Davies are on the bench for Real Madrid. Freeladinho + Gary McNeil were not selected by Man Utd and Real Madrid respectively. The first half hour is very quiet. Van Nistelrooy hits the post with a header for Real Madrid. Casillas makes a double save from Defoe and Fletcher. HT: Man Utd 0 v 0 Real Madrid Half Time Stats The second half is like the first, very few clear cut chances for either team. After 80 minutes David Frketic comes on for Gago. FT: Man Utd 0 v 0 Real Madrid 90 Minutes Stats The only highlight of the 1st period of extra time was a Frketic freekick from the right is headed over by Higuain. 105 Minutes: Man Utd 0 v 0 Real Madrid Both sides were ultra cautious during the 2nd period of extra time as both teams seemed content to settle this game on penalties. Walcott\'s Wonderkids
The Stanlies Cup 2010 Sat 22nd May: Kyrgyzstan v Turkmenistan – 1st Leg Pre Match Kyrgyzstan starts with 10 superkids, with Alan as captain as well as being classed as the ‘key man’. On the bench is Lui, Mastinho + Freealdinho. Turkmenistan starts with 9 superkids with Samaras Taraldo as the ‘key man’. The captain is a non-superkid. Alvaro De Santiago hasn’t fully recovered from his injury to be listed on the subs bench. My Opinion Kyrgyzstan have won the every Stanlies Cup since it started back in 2007. I think they will be fired up for this as key preparation for the World Cup. Turkmenistan are missing some key players as well. I think Kyrgyzstan to win by a couple of goals. 51 seconds in and Frketic scores for Kyrgyzstan! Bubble plays the ball to Frektic just inside the area, who spins and fires past Rhys Davies. 1-0. George Robson reacts first to a loose ball in the Turkmenistan area, but his shot goes miles over the bar. Luke Swinson plays a pinpoint pass through to non-superkid Bairamov who is free in on goal. He makes a deft little chip over Elfdog to find the back of the net. 1-1. Kyrgyzstan dominate the next few minutes, with Robson, Azeryk + Alan all having efforts on goal. 24 minutes gone and an innocent looking move by Turkmenistan results in Birkinaldo fouling Bairamov just inside the penalty area. Penalty to Turkmenistan. Koppers comes forward to take the penalty and blasts it down the centre. 1-2. Kyrgyzstan almost get an instant reply, McNeil forcing a great diving save from Rhys Davies. 31 minutes gone and Bubble plays a magnificent ball to Azeryk in the area, but his first time volley goes inches wide of the right hand post. Chaoconov picks up a yellow card. 37 minutes gone and Kyrgyzstan counter attack. Robson plays a ball over the top for Alan who latches onto it and slots it past Davies. 2-2. HT: Kyrgyzstan 2 v 2 Turkmenistan Half Time Player Ratings Half Time Match Stats Great game so far! Azeryk is subbed at half time. Robson spreads the ball out to the left wing to Gary McNeil. He takes it to the touchline before crossing it to the near post where David Frketic pops up to turn the ball home. 3-2, an hour gone. The goal marks several substitutions. Off goes McNeil + Alan and on comes Mastinho + Freealdinho for Kyrgysztan. Luke Swinson + Peter Slater are subbed for Turkmenistan. Mastinho picks up a yellow card soon after coming on. After 71 minutes Birkinaldo + Frketic are subbed off for Kyrgyzstan. Pablo Gonzalez is also subbed for Turkmenistan. George Robson picks up a yellow card after 73 minutes. Freealdinho + Robson both have half chances in the remaining minutes. In injury time Chaoconov commits a foul and the referee decides to show him a 2nd yellow card. Chaoconov is sent off. FT: Kyrgyzstan 3 v 2 Turkmenistan Full Time Match Stats Full Time Turkmenistan Stats Full Time Kyrgyzstan Stats Kyrgyzstan run out deserved winners and perhaps should have won by more than one goal. David Frketic gets the MOM award for his 2 goals.

David Frketic + Rhys Davies pick up winner’s medals. Final League Tables England - Premiership France First League Lyon have won the French First League, with Mastinho collecting a winner’s medal. Italy - Serie A Inter have won Serie A, but De Santiago does not pick up a medal as he did not play enough league games for them this season. Italy - Serie B Technically the league hadn't finished at this point but I've included it to make the league tables section complete. Scotland - Premier League Prof Frink has won a Scottish League Winners Medal Spain La Liga The Asian Nations Cup 2011 Qualifying Draw has been made. Walcott\'s Wonderkids
The Stanlies Cup 2010 Weds 26th May: Turkmenistan (2) v (3) Kyrgyzstan – 2nd leg Pre Match 9 Turkmenistan superkids start the match with De Santiago restored in goal and Chaoconov playing despite the sending off. This means that Chaoconov will miss the 1st match of the World Cup. The key man is Samaras Taraldo and the captain is non-superkid Bairamov. On the bench is Rhys Davies. 10 superkids start for Kyrgyzstan. Captain and key man is Alan. On the bench again is Freealdinho, Lui + Mastinho. My Opinion Despite the close scoreline, Kyrgyzstan dominated the first leg. This game will be tighter but the absentees for Turkmenistan could be crucial. I think Kyrgyzstan will not lose, hence will retain the Stanlies Cup again. Alan is in the clear after just 4 minutes, but blazes over from a tight angle. Bubble picks up a yellow card after 17 minutes. Pablo Gonzalez then picks up a yellow card after 20 minutes. Robson takes a semi-hopefully shot from 25 yards. The shot goes over the bar. Libertinho picks out Swinson, but his shot goes narrowly wide. Kyrgyzstan have a few more half chances but can’t get a decent shot on goal. Koppers picks up a yellow card in injury time. HT: Turkmenistan 0 (2) v (3) 0 Kyrgyzstan Half Time Player Ratings Half Time Match Stats Alan is subbed at halftime. Halali takes over as captain. Halali picks up a yellow card early in the second half. 56 minutes gone, Azeryk spins his man and fires a shot low towards goal. De Santiago gets a hand on it, but it takes a back tracking Hermandinho to come back and stop the ball from going into the net. Peter Slater, Libertinho + Luke Swinson are subbed after an hour. Mastinho replaces Gary McNeil for Kyrgyzstan. Prof Frink + David Frketic are subbed after 73 minutes. Chaoconov is also subbed for Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan are playing the ball around at the back, with the ball going out to Taraldo in the right back position. He looks up and lumps a ball into the box towards Gonzalez. However, the ball goes over Gonzalez’s head, confusing Elfdog in the Kyrgyzstan goal, resulting in the ball floating into the corner of the net. Taraldo scores a fluke 45 yard goal. 1-0, 77 minutes gone and Turkmenistan now lead on away goals! Kyrgyzstan then make a substitution with Freealdinho coming onto the pitch. Turkmenistan intercept the ball and launch a counter attack. The ball comes to Gonzalez, but Birkinaldo comes in with a crunching tackle to win the ball. FT: Turkmenistan 1 (3) v (3) 0 Kyrgyzstan Full Time Match Stats Full Time Turkmenistan Stats Full Time Kyrgyzstan Stats The match stats are a complete contradiction to the result and the goal was a fluke – but not a single individual from Turkmenistan will care!! Turkmenistan win The Stanlies Cup 2010 on away goals after a 3-3 agg scoreline.
Walcott\'s Wonderkids
Week ending Sunday 30th May 2010 Wigan has sacked their manager Paul Jewell. Turkmenistan have won the Stanlies Cup 2010, their first ever victory in the competition. Golden Boy - Can't tell you for certain as I don't have the game loaded atm. Walcott\'s Wonderkids
Week ending Sunday 6th June 2010 Paolo Maldini has been sacked as manager of AC Milan. Ajax manager Sven Goran Eriksson has declared his interest in signing out of favour player Humphrey Koppers. Aston Villa is interested in Elfdog. PSG and Inter Milan are interested in Rhys Davies. Barcelona and Betis are interested in Ulfinus Chaoconov. This is normally the time of year when I conduct the season review. However, due to the impending World Cup I will do the season review once both teams have been knocked out (or after the Final!). Just to act as a reminder, both teams have the following group stage fixtures:
Kyrgyzstan (Group D) Sun 13th June v Colombia Fri 18th June v Portugal Weds 23rd June v Holland Turkmenistan (Group A) Fri 11th June v New Zealand Thurs 17th June v Russia Tues 22nd June v Italy
Finally, the World Cup squad announcements: Kyrgyzstan – As there are no injury worries, all 16 superkids have been selected for the World Cup. Turkmenistan – Have called up 15 superkids, including the injured Marcus Cook. Startingly, the one person to miss out is Humphrey Koppers. The World Cup games are up next, they will come later today / tomorrow.

eldereth
Despite Robson's efforts, Kyrgyzstan (I'm still not sure how to type it ) lose the Stanley cup... elf_30
Wooo Hooo, finally, we win the Stanlies, the first of many I am sure, but did anyone else notice this, the team, in this last two matches, that did had the least chances, won? Interesting to me. Just seems very odd that in the first leg, Kryg had a ton of misses and only got two goals, in the second, Turk had a ton and didnt score at all, just seems a tad bit out. Aston Villa, interesting, hope but will playing time come with a move back to the EPL?

Walcott\'s Wonderkids
A bit earlier than planned... here are the early stages of the World Cup: New Zealand v Turkmenistan Fri 11th June: World Cup Group Stage Pre Match 11 superkids start for Turkmenistan with Atas upfront with Gonzalez. The captain is Luke Swinson and the key man is Samaras Taraldo. As this is the World Cup, all non-starters are on the bench. My Opinion Great to have New Zealand first up, the easiest team in their group. However, it does add pressure that they need to get off to a winning start. Turkmenistan have a much better quality of player throughout their team and should record a 2 goal margin of victory. Gonzalez almost gets Turkmenistan off to a dream shot, but his shot after 25 seconds is straight at the Kiwi keeper. Its all Turkmenistan at the start of the game with Atas + Gonzalez both having further shots on goal. Woohoo, the break through! Atas finds Gonzalez with a lovely throughball and Gonzalez rounds the keeper before slotting home. 0-1 and 23 minutes gone. 3 minutes later and Libertinho threads the ball through to Atas but before he can turn his man, his legs are taken away from him. Penalty to Turkmenistan. With Koppers the regular penalty taker not playing, Turkus Mendieta steps up to take the penalty and promptly finds the top right corner of the goal. 0-2. Cue Turkmenistan fans going potty. Swinson swings in a corner from the left and Libertinho makes a late run to break free of his marker before thumping his header past the keeper. 0-3 and 32 minutes gone. Turkmenistan sits back for the rest of the half. HT: New Zealand 0 v 3 Turkmenistan Half Time Stats Swinson finds Gonzalez down the right wing, who beats his man before crossing towards Atas, but he can only head over the bar. After 80 minutes, Gonzalez + Chaoconov are subbed. On comes Gareth Davies. After 87 minutes, captain Swinson is subbed. In the 3rd minute of injury time Atas blasts a shot over from 8 yards out. FT: New Zealand 0 v 3 Turkmenistan Match Overview Player Stats Great start to the World Cup for Turkmenistan, but this was a must win game. Mom goes to Hermandinho, for an astonishing performance at the back. He won 23 headers today, more than the rest of his teammates combined!!!
Other Group A Result: Russia 5 v 1 Italy Group A Table 1. Russia +4 3 2. Walcott\'s Wonderkids
Kyrgyzstan v Colombia Sun 13th June: World Cup Group Stage Pre Match 11 superkids start for Kyrgyzstan, with Alan as the key man and captain. On the bench are Freealdinho, Mastinho, George Robson, Ryan + Lui. My Opinion Whilst a tough team to face than New Zealand, Kyrgyzstan’s opening group game is probably also their easiest, therefore making a good start is vital. I think Kyrgyzstan will scrap a win. Azeryk plays a lovely ball out wide to Frketic who runs in on goal. His shot is well tipped over by the keeper. Bill is shown a yellow card after 21 minutes. Rest of the half is a tepid affair. HT: Kyrgyzstan 0 v 0 Colombia Half Time Stats Bill + Azeryk are subbed at halftime. On come Ryan + George Robson as Kyrgyzstan change to 4-2-1-2-1. Ryan forces the Colombian keeper to make a great tip over in the first minute of the second half. Alan picks up a yellow card after 55 minutes. Prof Frink is slightly out of position and the Colombian striker closes in on goal. Fortunately Ryan comes across and puts in a vital tackle. However, the ball falls at the feet of another Colombian player, but this time a backtracking Elfdog makes a great save, tipping the ball round the post. 71 minutes gone and Freealdinho replaces Alan. Halali becomes the captain. Colombia continues to apply the pressure and with a minute of normal time to go, Colombia press forward and outnumber the Kyrgyzstan defenders four to three. The ball falls to Pino who fires past Elfdog and into the net. 0-1. FT: Kyrgyzstan 0 v 1 Colombia Match Overview Player Stats A nightmare result for Kyrgyzstan, who deserved to get a point out of the match.
Other Group D Result: Holland 1 v 1 Portugal Group D Table 1. Walcott\'s Wonderkids
Turkmenistan v Russia Thurs 17th June: World Cup Group Stage Pre Match 11 superkids start for Turkmenistan, with Rhys + Gareth Davies, Marcus Cook + Peter Slater on the bench. The captain is Luke Swinson and Samaras Taraldo is regarded as the key man. My Opinion After giving Italy a shock thumping, Turkmenistan must be wary of Russia. A draw would be a good result for Turkmenistan and I think that this game will be a draw. Great start for Turkmenistan! In just the 3rd minute Gonzalez plays the ball out to Chaoconov, who beats his man before putting in a great cross to Bennitto Hagan who buries it first time. 1-0. Gonzalez hits the post from a very acute angle as Atas pulls his shot right across the goal. Was a great chance to double the lead. A slight mis-kick from the Russian keeper falls to Hagan who tries a long shot. The ball goes just over the bar. Libertinho sees his 30 yard freekick go over the bar. HT: Turkmenistan 1 v 0 Russia Half Time Stats Turkmenistan has controlled the first half. Selim Atas is subbed at halftime as Turkmenistan switch to a bizarre 3-3-2-1-1 formation. Turkmenistan starts the half with no real intent to double the lead and Russia can’t break down the Turkmenistan defence. Long range off target shots are in frequent supply. After 72 minutes Swinson + Chaoconov are subbed. On comes Peter Slater + Gareth Davies. A Russian freekick in the 85th minute was easily saved by De Santiago. Taraldo makes a vital challenge in injury time to deny Russia a run-in on goal. FT: Turkmenistan 1 v 0 Russia Match Overview Player Stats A great win for Turkmenistan and they are now so close to qualifying for the knockout stages.
Other Group A Result: Italy 2 v 0 New Zealand Group A Table (2/3): 1. Turkmenistan +4 6 2. Russia +3 3 ----------------------- 3. Italy -2 3 4. New Zealand -5 0
As goal difference and goals scored takes precedence over results against teams in the group yet have not quite yet secured their place in the second round, but a draw against the Italians would be enough to win the group and they only need lose by less than 3 goals to guarantee second spot. TeeWee
Second round should be almost certain by now. Good work team! I think Hermandinho should change his nickname to HeadMandinho While of course those Kyrgyzi wannabees are normally beneath our notice, I do hope they'll make it: if only to eliminate the greater threat of Portugal from the cup! Scott1990
I must say, I'm worried about our match vs. Italy... and Kyrgystan is hosed.
Walcott\'s Wonderkids
Portugal v Kyrgyzstan Fri 18th June: World Cup Group Stage Pre Match 11 superkids start for Kyrgyzstan and Alan is captain and key man again. On the bench are Freealdinho, Lui, Ryan, George Robson + Mastinho. My Opinion Kyrgyzstan has to get something out of this game or will probably be out of the World Cup before its really even began. I think they can get a draw against Portugal. Great work by Mick Bubble who sprints past 2 Portuguese defenders before crossing. The ball swerves towards goal and Ricardo makes a great save to tip it round the near post. 11 minutes gone and Halali puts in a corner from the left. Benj heads the ball and it rattles off the crossbar! Fortunately it falls straight to the feet of Azeryk who knocks in his 30th goal for Kyrgyzstan (Still not quite 21 years old either!). 0-1. 12 minutes later and the ball is played down the Portuguese right. Ronaldo outsprints Halali to the ball before crossing for Tiago at the nearpost. His shot is excellently saved by Elfdog, but the rebound is tapped in by Hugo Almeida. 1-1. Prof Frink boots the ball upfield, Azeryk knocks it on and all of a sudden Alan has the ball and is in on goal, despite not even being in the oppositions half! After a long run in however, Ricardo pushes his shot onto the post, making a great save. David Frketic is shown a yellow card in injury time. HT: Portugal 1 v 1 Kyrgyzstan Half Time Stats Bill + Azeryk are subbed at halftime. George Robson + Ryan are brought on as Kyrgyzstan change to 4-2-1-2-1 again. Portugal passes the ball round at the back for 30-40 seconds before the ball falls to the feet of Tiago who decides to shoot. His shot goes just wide of the left post. Portugal continues to attack, this time Deco goes close. Halali picks up a yellow card after 71 minutes. After 73 minutes Birkinaldo is subbed. Elfdog does very well to tip a header from a freekick over the bar. Gary McNeil picks up a yellow card after 80 minutes. Its happened again! This time with only 4 minutes to go Portugal counter attack after a rare attack by Kyrgyzstan in the 2nd half. The ball is worked down the left and is then crossed to the back post where Nani is there to tap home. 2-1. FT: Portugal 2 v 1 Kyrgyzstan Match Overview Player Stats Another late goal ruins the game for Kyrgyzstan, but more importantly knocks them out of the tournament!!!
Group D Table (2/3): 1. Walcott\'s Wonderkids
Turkmenistan v Italy Tues 22nd June: World Cup Group Stage Pre Match 11 superkids start for Turkmenistan against defending champions Italy. Luke Swinson is captain and the key man is Samaras Taraldo. On the bench are Rhys & Gareth Davies, Marcus Cook + Peter Slater. My Opinion The toughest game of the group so far for Turkmenistan and Italy need to win with Russia virtually assured of a win against New Zealand. Will be tough for Turkmenistan, I think a narrow defeat but they could snatch a draw. It’s happened again – 3rd game in a row that Turkmenistan is off to a flyer. An attacking throw in down the right leads to a one-two between Swinson + Dumats. Dumats crosses to Atas who volleys the ball into the net. 1-0. A poor pass from Dumats to Hermandinho is intercepted by Pazzini, who runs in on goal before slotting it past De Santiago. 1-1 and just 8 minutes gone. Pazzini almost gets his second after a poor pass from Libertinho, but De Santiago saves well. Buffon makes a great save from a Gonzalez header. Amauri is put through for Italy, but his powerful shot just goes wide of the far post. Atas hits a powerful shot from 30 yards straight down the throat of Buffon. HT: Turkmenistan 1 v 1 Italy Half Time Stats Gonzalez is subbed at halftime. A long clearance by Buffon is flicked on by Gilardino. Amauri races onto it and slots it past De Santiago. 47 minutes gone, 1-2. Dumats sends a freekick into the box but Hermandinho heads over the bar. However, 2 mintues later Libertinho runs onto a Swinson corner to fire in the equaliser! 68 minutes gone and its 2-2. Swinson + Chaoconov are then subbed off, with Slater + Gareth Davies coming onto the pitch. 75 minutes gone and Libertinho swings in a corner from the left. Peter Slater tries to head the ball but is fouled by Di Rossi. ---Penalty to Turkmenistan!--- Up steps Turkus Mendieta, but its saved and the rebound is cleared into touched. Atas had a chance to win it in injury time but his shot is straight at Buffon. FT: Turkmenistan 2 v 2 Italy Match Overview Player Stats Selim Atas wins the MOM award
Other Group A Result: New Zealand 0 v 0 Russia Final Group A Table: 1. Turkmenistan +3 7 2. Russia +3 4 ----------------------- 3. Italy -2 4 4. New Zealand -5 1
Turkmenistan win Group A and the World Champions Italy are out!!! Walcott\'s Wonderkids
Holland v Kyrgyzstan Weds 23rd June: World Cup Group Stage Pre Match 11 superkids start for Kyrgyzstan. Lui replacing Elfdog in goal. The captain is Alan and the key man is Azeryk. My Opinion Its all about pride now for the Kyrgyzstan lads, can they prevent another whitewash at an international tournament after the Olympics in 2008. Holland are still in with a good chance of qualifying if they can win so I would expect them to nick a win here. Lui tips over a cross come shot from Kuyt after 3 minutes. However from the corner Hofland heads the ball into the net. 1-0. Frketic picks up a yellow card after 14 minutes. Azeryk plays a crossfield through ball to Alan who takes a touch before passing the ball into the corner of the net. 1-1, after 27 minutes. The rest of the half is fairly quiet. HT: Holland 1 v 1 Kyrgyzstan Half Time Stats For the 3rd game in a row Bill + Azeryk are subbed at half time. On come Ryan + George Robson. 57 minutes gone and Mathijsen fouls David Frketic. Having already be shown a yellow card, he is now going for an early bath after picking up a 2nd yellow for that foul. Kyrgyzstan decides to make a substitution to respond to this, replacing Prof Frink with Freealdinho as they go back to a 4-4-2 formation. Birkinaldo picks up a yellow card for a late tackle. Benj, Alan and Dirk Kuyt all have shots that go just over the bar in the next 20 minutes. Lui makes a great diving save to his left to deny Van Nistelrooy with 3 minutes to go. A minute later and Sneijder hits the crossbar. The last few mintues were end to end drama as Holland pressed for the winner they needed to qualify and Kyrgyzstan counter attacking. Unfortunately nobody scored. FT: Holland 1 v 1 Kyrgyzstan Match Overview Player Stats Alan wins the MOM award.
Other Group D Result: Portugal 1 v 1 Colombia Final Group D Table: 1. Colombia +1 5 2. Portugal +1 5 ----------------------- 3. Holland 0 3 4. Kyrgyzstan -2 1
So Kyrgyzstan at least win a point for their efforts and will have to look at this World Cup as a training exercise for the future. This nation will get to many more World Cups with these superkids in the team.
