As you may be able to tell by the timing of this thread, I was fortunate enough to receive FM13 for Christmas so I can finally get started! Nothing revolutionary here, just an average manager looking for a job in Europe looking simply to succeed wherever he ends up. Majority of leagues in Europe loaded, the only exceptions are Belarus and Iceland, simply because my computer refused to let me start with over 100K players. I have applied to all available jobs and hope to get started quickly! I will also be doing match reports for each game, you'll see what I mean as I go . ManUTactician247 Posted December 26, 2012 Author Share Posted December 26, 2012 Well after no other offers came in, I have my destination Astra Ploiesti So my adventure begins in Romania and to be honest it was a no brainer, the funds Astra were offering far exceeded offers from any of the other interested clubs. A transfer budget of £175K was very difficult to resist as well as a wage budget of £29.5K per week, over double the offers of anyone else. It was a bit difficult rejecting the offers from the Turkish clubs as I am actually Turkish but Astra's offer was too good to refuse, and of course Astra are in the top division of Romania, another huge pull to joining them. Ah yes and it is a 2 year deal on £1,200 per week, not a bad start for a rookie manager! History Yes, I am aware the logo says Fotbal Club Astra Giurgiu, this is because in September 2012, the clubs name changed from Astra Ploiesti to Astra Giurgiu after the club relocated, this change has not been reflected in FM so I will call them Astra Ploiesti. Anyway, the club was founded in 1934 and has mostly been in the lower leagues, but received promotion to the Liga I in 2009. The clubs colours are white and black. Astra come right out of the blocks, it takes them 22 seconds for Fatai to break down the right and cross it perfectly for Maranhao who has a simple finish. 63 - Semenenko replaces Jovanovic. 69 - Milea is replaced by Keita. 74 - Vladu is on for Ţigănaşu. 75 - Junior Maranhao takes a free-kick looking for a hat-trick but is unfortunate to hit the post. 78 - Astra don't do well clearing a cross and Vladu has it from a tight angle but Kello gets his angles right to save. 80 - GOAL! Maranhao does well to squeeze in a cross from the left, picking out Ferfelea who makes it 3. 83 - PENALTY! Mayhem in the penalty area and in the end Vladu is the one penalised for hacking down Bărboianu. 83 - GOAL! As he was on a hat-trick Maranhao was allowed to take the penalty and it goes in despite the keepers attempt to save it, 3 for him, 4 for Astra! 85 - Ben Djemia and Distefano are on now for Ezequias and Ferfelea. 87 - Tincu gets the first booking towards the end for a push on Fatai. 90+1 - Full time A fantastic performance by the whole team, especially Junior Maranhao who scored 3 and set up the other, a win that takes us up to 4th in the table, who would have thought? Junior Maranhao sends the ball in from the left and Curelea is left with acres of space to volley it in! 51 - Adi is now on to replace Keric. 62 - Szukala is on for Gardoș 73 - Costea replaces Nikolic 76 - Ezequias makes a devastating run into the box but can only fire wide. 81 - Seto is forced to come off with injury, his replacement is Yahaya. 81 - Tănase makes a mess of his cross from the left but it goes over Kello and hits the bar, almost very lucky for Steaua. 86 - Yahaya manages to pick out Bărboianu who drills it in on goal but the keeper makes a terrific save. 89 - Măţel picks up a knock and Astra play safe, replacing him with Bournal. 90+3 - Full time Unbelievable! Another great victory for us and it's even put us top of the table! I can't think of a better place to be at the moment than Astra Ploiesti! Pandurii lead as Vlads cross is headed in by Figueira. 42 - Mureșan has picked up an injury and Bărboianu replaces him. 45 - Another injury for Astra forces Ben Youssef on to replace Găman 45+4 - Half time It looks like we're heading for my first defeat in management, we've been hugely disappointing and really need to kick into gear in this 2nd half. 50 - Injury for Răduţ means Grigorie will replace him. 56 - Ibeh comes on for Cristea who has picked up a knock. 57 - GOAL! Maxim drills the ball to the back post where Ibeh meets it to make it 2. He's just come on! 72 - Măţel finds Fatai who turns well but hits it wide. 80 - GOAL! Astra are back in it as Măţel's initial delivery is headed back to him and his 2nd ball in is scrambled home by Ferfelea. 89 - Tembo comes on and replaces Măţel 90+3 - Full time A disappointing performance and our first defeat of the season, I'm not very happy at all. But we didn't buy anyone, it was everyone who wanted a piece of us. 1st out of the door was back up keeper Silviu Lung jr, he only played 1 match for us before Atalanta swooped in to buy him for 700K + 10% of his next sale, a good deal for us. Then, I had a decision to make, Standard Liege had tabled a £1.4M offer for none other than Alexandru Măţel. Begrudgingly I accepted the offer but was kind of relieved when contract negotiations fell through. I also rejected an offer from Otelul to sign Mihalache. Our next match however saw us in explosive form as Junior Maranhao bagged a hat-trick, assist and a 9.7 rating to destroy Iași. However, next up was a huge test away to Steaua, yet somehow we managed to pick up a 2-0 win thanks to our strike duo. At this point I felt invincible and when we went 1-0 up against Ceahlăul I thought it would be another easy three points before we gifted a last minute equaliser to them. Disappointing but I hoped to recover against Pandurii but no such luck as the home side rightly took 3 points off us. Money. Curelea will replace him as captain. I hoped I could find a CB to replace him but sadly I couldn't find anyone willing to join so instead I spent £28K on a new striker, Mohamed Lamine Berthé joins from Malian side Stade Malien and we hope he can make an impact here. Getting knocked out of the cup by Jiul was also embarrassing but we put in a great performance to beat U Cluj which sees us end the month in 6th, which is pretty good. We then had a tough match against Vaslui and through a lot of luck and disallowed goals we scraped a 1-0 victory. Our final game of the month was away to Oţelul where we managed to hold on for a draw thanks to a rare goal by Ben Youssef. I'm very satisfied with how our month went as it leaves us in 3rd place in the table, enough for a Europa League spot next season but I'm mindful that we face both Dinamo and Rapid Bucharest in November so it will be tough, no question. Ferfeleas corner causes a bit of chaos and Batin is the one who is adjudged to have fouled Seto. 66 - GOAL! I don't think Curelea could have hit that one any harder, great penalty. 67 - Madeira will replace Dorinel Popa. 78 - Curelea the goalscorer will make way for Berthé. 79 - Berthé is pushed by Lăzar who is booked. 85 - Machado is on for Menassel who has picked up a knock. 86 - GOAL! What on earth just happened! Munteanu sends a hopeless long ball forward and for some reason, Kello goes to kick it and completely misses, Braşov are level out of nothing!
