Tax in France, correct?

Recommended Posts

Just checking if the large tax rise in France after season 1 is correct?

If you're thinking about the 75% tax it hasn't been implemented yet and probably won't as national court has deemed it illegal (or something like that).

Edit: but I don't know about the French tax rates in FM13.

The new tax rate is in FM13, but only until 2015 when it is removed - it is only a short-term austerity measure.

Whether in your case the large increase is due to income tax or other factors we would need more information.

The 75% tax in France was declared unconstitutional only because it was based on individuals rather than household income.

Therefore 1 person earning 1 million euro would pay it, and 2 people earning 900,000 euros would not.

The constitutional court explicitly stated that it had no problem with the rate.

I ve read some great stuff from austrian school of economy and I know how it gonna end in real life - 99,9% of the businessmen will escape from France living behind millions of people unemployed. And how does it affect the game? Is there a players'/stuff/chairmans' etc. mass-escape from France happening?

Isn't this always the case....

Sad but true.

I s it not a progressive rate? Meaning you only get taxed 75% of every dollar over the initial 1mm?

The court didn't rule that 75% tax was illegal, just that the way it was being implemented was unconstitutional. Hollande plans to reintroduce a 75% tax bill that complies with the ruling.

From the BBC:

French millionaires would be well-advised to think twice before cracking open the champagne over the Constitutional Council's ruling. The court emphatically did NOT say that the 75 per cent tax rate was too high.

No, the point on which the socialist government's flagship measure came unstuck was a technicality. In French jargon the new tax bracket for people earning more than a million euros had not been "conjugalised".As framed, the tax band applied to individuals - not to households. But in France, income tax is levied on households. Therefore the provision breached the constitutional requirement that it be equitable for all.

The measure will almost certainly be back. All the government has to do is reframe and resubmit. But it now stands accused not just of a certain vindictiveness towards the rich, but also of a certain legal incompetence too.

What I can say is that your wage costs (player, bonuses, staff, non-football) have increased dramatically - up £2.3 million a month (from £4.5 million to £6.8 million a month)

One thing I'd like someone at SI to confirm is how the Corporation Tax is calculated for season 1. I have a feeling that season 2 taxes are correct whilst season 1 is too low.

Season 2 onward is a simple calculation based on profits.
