Expect a win

Recommended Posts

I find it incredibly weird, that everytime I use the "Expect a win" teamtalk, my team plays like rubbish. It's doesn't even matter how poor the other team is, or if we play at home, they still suck.

Does anyone experience the same thing?

Could there be a particular reason for this?

I've been in this job for 6 years, and my position is Untouchable. I would think by now, that the players would've gained just a little respect of me.

It doesn't work and never has done. Most of the teamtalks are just gimics, stick to the safe ones.

That's just completely false, I always used 'expect a win' in 12 and won from it.

In 13 it appears you have to balance it and use it when complacency is creeping in on a regular basis. Otherwise, for lower teams its best to take the pressure off and be more 'middle' of the road. Assistant manager advice and pre-match odds are NOT good indications of what to use, if you're overachieving or you're on a good run of form for example, both the media and your assistant will advocate an 'easy' game even if the opposition is stronger than you, so you need to use your own knowledge to anticipate what talk is appropriate for what opposition given the circumstances.

In other words don't listen to the assistant or media, suss it out yourself with your own knowledge. Should you be beating this team 5-0? If so use it, if not then don't.
