GTFCJACK
How many friendlies do you guys play? As i usually manage lower league teams, i tend to play 15-20 pre season matches, mainly to get the finances up, but it also gives me time to get the new players trained to my tactics....... Cougar2010
15-20 as a lower league team is totally overkill and if you're doing it for the finances some would say thats bordering on exploiting/cheating. Personally I would say around 6-8 for my main squad.

I'd say more exploiting than cheating, as a team in the BSP, i could earn 100-200k from a good pre season, which goes a long way if your wage budget is only 10k
MichaelBrown
I play around 5 for the first team and 3 for youth/reserves which might get them noticed. But yeah, I think 20 is seriously overkill and it kills the realism for me.
robertcornell68
Six, plus two for reserves.
fmFutbolManager
Between 8-10 but I have a rather large squad with two players to every position, so I see that as 4/5 games each for the two squads I play.
OxfordUnitedFC
usually 6 but it depends. If im playing as a big club and its a Euro/World cup year then a lot of players come back relatively fit from playing in that.
MartinGregory84
4-6 on Average
jayahr
Six matches. I build two about equally strong sides who get three starts each and sub the whole team for the other one at around 55 mins into each friendly. I always make sure that the last two friendlies are against minnows to make sure that my players get good ratings and approach the season with good morale. andrew bowditch
Usually 3 on a tour of a country, plus between 2-5 more. i dont know or care how many my reserves / youth play as i dont control them, and the players are all in my first team until the season starts
Konigsberg
I play in Denmark where we have a long winter break (from december to march), but I usually play 6-8 friendlies in the preseason and 6-8 friendlies in the winter break. I play them to make new players accustomed to their new teammates and tactics and to gain match fitness.
Faramir
In England, I usually start friendlies a week after training resumes, then go Saturday-Wednesday until I run out of days (usually stop a full week before the first regular season match). DarthCraigus
I usually always play as a top flight club in either England or Spain, so I usually fit around 6-8 friendlies in the pre-season period. I always try to make the last friendly (at least a week before my first competitive game of the season) a home game against a top European club. Never actually considered the idea of playing one or two against smaller teams as a way of boosting confidence/morale. May consider that in future. Currently playing through a save with Gateshead in the BSP so with a bit of a longer season I may lower the number of friendlies to about 5-6. Mainly used as a way of building up match fitness and condition. Again, as this is essentially my first time playing a lower league club, I may look at trying to schedule a couple of those friendlies with the aim of getting some finances in. easternhawk2
Every couple of days after the players get back from holiday until 10 days before my first competitive domestic game.
BamBamBam
4 or 5 against lower sides to build morale up for the start of the season.
Keyzer Soze
first season the max i can. Usually play every 4 days, so it comes to 10/12 friendlies in the end. In the others season, and because my tactic is already knowned by the players, i usually play 5 or 6 games
dafuge
Usually six, but sometimes up to eight if I've got a larger squad.
