How long does it take for the paperwork to be completed?

I have two Brazilians who have been at my club long enough to get their French citizenship and free up two foreign player slots for me, and they are just "awaiting paperwork"

I have Hector Moreno waiting for spanish citizenship, he's been "awaiting paperwork" for about 4 months now, is this normal???

i had some players in the mexican league "awaiting paperwork" for a few month too but i don't know how long does it take or if it's different from one country to another. i hope someone who knows could answer!

Well, it must take somewhere between 4 and 5 months, as Hector Moreno has Spanish citizenship now, shame there is no message or info for it.

At least it does happen eventually though ;]

this really bugs me.

it's obviously not a bug because it's still in the game (and in real life, these proceedings can take a while) but why does it just say "awaiting paperwork..." ??? why can't it be like the work permit application process with dates set? or even the nationality countdown itself? the worst part of this isn't that we have to wait, it's that we don't know how LONG we have to wait so can't plan around it.

so so SOOOOO frustrating.

That's because in real life there is no set dates for these things. There are many hearings and other meetings to decide whether a player gets citizenship.

but the countdown is clearly already in the game as some kind of invisible attribute. which does nothing but frustrate the player.

so either make it visible straight up (it just ruins playability as is) or have another interface. so, like, set hearings for it like with work permits.

It might be in the game. That's because that's set in stone and real life. These hearings vary for different players. So SI won't include something which can vary.

Edit: It also doesn't ruin playability. You get a notification when the player has been granted citizenship.

it does if you sign players expecting players to have an available foreigner slot. this wouldn't be a problem if they gave you a time-frame to work with, but with an invisible stat all you're left doing is guessing. you can't plan medium-term.

It's not an invisible stat. When you sign a player, if you check their information, it explains how long they have been in the country for. Then, when they have reached however many days it says awaiting paperwork. The paperwork side of someone gaining citizenship/nationality can vary. So why would SI put something along the lines of how long the paperwork would take when it varies and they don't actually know? So, awaiting paperwork is suitable.

It's not always the same number of days to get 'paperwork' completed actually.
