Titties Update

English Championship

Ipswich (A) 23rd September 2006

So on to the league campaign and starting with an away game at Ipswich. Bristol start with their normal line up for this game. 40 minutes gone in the first half and a long shot flies in for Ipswich. And thats how the first half ends. Into the second half and on 50 minutes Junior misses a simple chance in front of goal. Not much to report in the second half as the game ends 1-0 to Ipswich.

Ipswich 1 Bristol C 0

MOM: Brocchi 9(Ipswich)

ATT:20463

A poor defeat for the titties there, but as long as we can keep it tight at home we should end up quite good.

English Championship

Leicester (H) 30th September 2006

So a home tie now and Bristol will be looking to come out on top against Leicester in order to stay in the top half of the league. Fielding a similar team as before Bristol are playing with a 4-1-3-1-1 formation. Leicester line up with a 3-4-3. With half an hour gone Routledge finds himself clean through on goal however the keeper makes a fine save. Half time comes and its still 0-0. Into the second half and a few chances fall to Bristol but they are unable to convert any of them so the game ends 0-0.

Bristol C 0 Leicester 0

MOM: Dabizaz 8 (Leicester)

ATT:21015

So a point added to the board, but another week without a goal for. We have to work on scoring some more of the chances we are creating.

English Championship

Swansea (A) 14th October 2006

Another away game for Bristol here and the bookies are backing Swansea for the home win. But with some relatively poor form of late Johnston has made some tactical changes hoping to take advantage and grab some goals. Reverting back to a 4-1-3-2 formation both Linz and Junior will start up front. 20 minutes gone and Sanchez is injured yet again. Right on the stroke of half time Linz rises above everyone else to head home to make it 1-0. Half time. Into the second half and Swansea grab an equaliser on the 70th minute. 85 minutes and Linz latches onto a loose ball in front of the open goal and slots home to make it 2-1. And thats how it finishes.

Swansea 1 Bristol C 2

MOM: Amankwah 8(Bristol C)

Goal Scorers: Linz(45,85)

Assists: Burke(45)

ATT:17737

A fantastic win for the titties there in a tight fought match. Those 3 points are enough to fire us into 5th place.

Crewe (H) 22nd October 2006

Bristol City now have a chance to prove themselves in front of the entire country with a live TV game at home to Crewe, who are sitting in 15th place. The game gets off to a flyer for Bristol as Sanchez places a long free kick into the top corner after only a couple of minutes. The rest of the first half passes by with very little to report. 1-0 at half time. Into the second half and with 54 minutes on the clock Burke crosses into to Linz who powers his header home. After claiming 2 assists Chris Burke is taken off with an injury to be replaced by Job. 78 minutes on the clock and a defensive mix up allows Crewe to grab a goal back. However only minutes later a long through ball is taken by Junior who slots home to make it 3-1. And thats how it finishes.

MOM: Radzewicz 8(Bristol)

Goal Scorers: Sanchez (2) Linz (54) Junior (81)

The Owls Observer - Owls holding their own in the Prem!!!

After all the pre season hype about how badly the Owls may do in the Premiership and after their opening day loss at Sunderland the critics had the Owls down as relegation certainties. After the defeat at Sunderland a game which could have been won by the Owls Hepburn knew his team would bounce back and give a good account of themselves in the best league in the world. here is a runodwn of the latest games......

The League Campaign

Sheffield Wednesday v Tottenham (H) - 2-0 Defeat

A huge crowd came through the gates for the Owls' first match back in the Premiership where they entertained big spending Tottenham. They expected after last season's heroics but the owls are finding the Premiership a huge nut to crack as they were given a lesson on how hard the Premiership is going to be. Tottenham dominated the game start to finish and the gulf in class was there in abundance. No real positives came out of the game for the Owls as they were soundly beaten. So two games into the campaign and no points on the board. the fans were still cheering the team off the pitch which was a great sight for the players and staff to see.

Man Utd v Sheffield Wednesday - (A) - 3-0 Defeat

After two successive defeats and badly in need of points the Owls faced a huge trip to Old Trafford to take on Man Utd in front of the Sky Sports cameras. A game totally dominated by Utd they tore the Poor Owls defence apart with their slick football and passing and moving. It was brilliant on the eye but Hepburn was not impressed with the way his team performed. he commented after the game that his team showed too much repsect for Utd and did not get in and about them enough. Van Nistelrooy, Alan Smith and Jorge Lopez provided the goals and it could have been a lot more but for the goalkeeping of David Lucas. A tough start to the season is getting tougher by the minute.

Sheffield Wednesday v Everton (H0 - 2-1 Win for the Owls

it was back to Hillsborough in front of a sell out crowd who were loving every minute of the Premierhsip even although they had not picked up any points so far. They entertained Moyes' Everton who had not started the season that well either. In the early stages the Owls were pressing and looked a lot more solid in defence than in their previous games. Early chances were not taken but Mokoena gave the fans the chance to celebrate as he scored the Owls first goal in the Premierhsip and boy did the fans love it. It should have been more after that in the first half as the Owls created numerous chances to increase their precious lead. It got better for the Owls early in the second half as loan signing Ryan Smith scored his first goal for the club to put the Owls two ahead. The Owls again had more chances but could not take them and gave Everton hope and they started to press the Owls and create a few chances themselves. They pulled a goal back through Leon Osman and the Owls started to get nervous as Everton poured men forward in search of the vital equaliser. In the end it wasn't to be and the Owls had earned their first three points of their Premiership campaign.

Charlton v Sheffield Wednesday - (A) - 4-3 Win for the Owls

The Owls went into the Charlton game on a high and they continued where they left off against Everton and immediatley had Charlton ont he back foot. They took an early lead through Mokoena who was starting to find his form after only ten minutes. Things got even better for the Owls as only three minutes later Jan Simak had them 2-0 up with a superb free kick and the Charlton fans were stunned. Against the run of play Charlton grabbed a goal back from a corner that Biscan headed home from to give them hope for the second half. They came out all guns blazing in the second half but left themselves open to counter attack that the Owls exploited to the fullest. from a corner they broke away with Ryan Smith taking the ball from the half way line and burst through the defence to slot home number three for the Owls. Almost immediatley Charlton hit back as the Owls defnce were caught napping. It was a real end to end game now. No sooner than Charlton back in the game they conceded a fourth as Mokoena scored his second of the game to surely seal the game. But no the score was back to 4-3 as Charlton hit back within sixty seconds of the Owls going 4-2 up. It was incredible stuff and the fans were on the edge of their seats. Hepburn then shut up shop and decided to hold on to what they had and they saw ut the last twenty five minutes with ease and actually could have scored another goal but Kiely was up to the task. Superb game of football.

Shefield Wednesday v Bolton - (H) - 2-1 Defeat

Hepburn could not believe his team lost this game as Lucas who has been brilliant under Hepburn had a really poor game that really cost the Owls. They got off to a terrible start as Kevin Davies put Bolton 1-0 up after only five minutes. The Owls came roaring back and created a number of opportunites that Jaaskelainen was equal to. In the second half Guy Demel needlessly got himself sent off for dissent after he had commited a foul and Hepburn looked disgusted with him as he went off. The Owls were thrown a lifeline when Mokoena scored a penalty after Costa was fouled but they could not hold on as Campo put Bolton ahead with what proved to be the winner. A silly three points to lose and Hepburn was not happy.

West Brom v Sheffield Wednesday - (A) - 2-1 Win for the Owls

What a huge win this was for the owls. After the loss of three silly points to Bolton Hepburn was keen to get back his men back to winning ways to stay in the Premiership. A tough game that was hard fought with not a lot of good football being played. Hepburn didn't mind as goal hero Costa provided two priceless goals that got them three more points that kept them further away from the relegation zone.

Sheffield Wednesday v Notts Forest - (H) - 2-1 Win for the Owls

Hillsborough was packed the rafters again as the runners up from the Championship, Notts Forest came calling. Sheffield Wednesday, brimming with confidence started off the better team taking control of the game and dominating possession and creating a couple of half chances. This possession paid off as Luis Costa grabbed the opener in fourteen minutes. Ten minutes later it was two and it was that man Costa who go it. Forest showed nothing up front for much of the game but scored with their real attack but the Owls were never in any danger after that moment as they regained the upper hand and saw the game out.

Birmingham v Sheffield Wednesday - (A) - 3-1 Defeat

A really poor, tired performance from the Owls as they were overrun by Birmingham and never really got into the game.

Sheffield Wednesday v Chelsea - (H) - 2-2

This is what the Premiership is all about for Hepburn and his players as they entertained the superstars of Chelsea. The Chelsea team boasts names such as Lucio, Totti, Rosicky the list of superstars in their team is endless. Well these superstars got the fright of their lives as Sheffield Wednesday for forty five minutes took Chelsea apart and they made them look almost silly at times. Two first half goals from Mokoena and Simak had the Owls fans almost in shock as they did not expect their team to score never mind be 2-0 up at half time. Class told in the end as Mourinho rung the changes and two second half goals from Drogba and Mutu had Chelsea level and they should have won it but the Owls held on for a quite brilliant point. The fans gave the Owls players huge applause as they left the field.

Newcastle v Sheffield Wednesday - (A) - 0-0

After a fine performance it was another daunting trip to face another one of the Premiership big guns Newcastle at St James Park. The Owls fought and fought and denied Newcastle any time to dictate play. It was a pretty even contest and Hepburn was satisfied with a point as many teams do not leave St James Park with any points.

Sheffield Wednesday v Arsenal - (H) - 3-0 Win for the Owls

The tough games were coming thick and fast for the Owls as they entertained Premiership champions Arsenal who had started the season unbeaten and in superb form. Pre match in the media it was all about how many the Gunners would score against the Owls. It was the shock of the season and maybe the biggest shock in Premiership history. Arsenal dominated the game but could not find a way past David Lucas who had the game of his life. The hero for the Owls was Luis Costa who showed tremendous composure in front of goal as he scored a hat trick that he will never forget. At times they rode their luck but in football you need a bit of luck sometimes. Who would of thought that the Owls would pull off an amazing win at home against the champions. The fans partied all night long as if they had won the Champions League but Hepburn knew survival is what his team will be all about come the latter stages of the season. For now though Hepburn and his players were basking in the glory of beating the Premiership champions!!!!!!!

The League Cup Adventures!!!!

This season the second round of the League Cup paired the Owls in a home tie with Colchester from League Two. The Owls made it tough on themselves by failing to put away numerous chances that were created. Colchester went ahead against the run of play as Jonathan Short scored on the half hour. Costa had the Owls level just before half time then got the winner to send the Owls through to round three where they face an all Premiership tie with Birmingham.

Terrible news for titties fans, unfortunately I have to work tonight and won't be able to play, so hopefully my assistant can carry on my good work.

I had hoped that I would at least be there tonight because I don't think I will be around for the next couple of sessions either. My parents are coming to Germany to visit for a week on Thursday. So I'll definitely miss Thursday, and most likely Monday too. The following Thursday I might make it but there is a good chance I will have to work since I am having the week off.

I'll be back the Monday after that though.

Come on the titties.

Millwall appoint Rookie manager

Mill today announced that young boss Dennis Wise was no longer to be in charge of their club. After seeing him take their club to nearly the bottom of the table they decided to install a new manager into the club in a hope of getting to safety.

The Sun Reports

Millwall's new Wise-Man

Millwall unveiled their new manager today at a press conference inside their ground. Reporters speculated as to who would take charge and a few big names cropped up. Names such as Gordan Strachan who could be tempted back into management, Harry Redknapp, Steve McClaren and a few other names. The main contender was was Terry Venables who had been out of a job for some time and would surely have loved to get this job. It was even more of a suprise as to who they unveiled as their new boss, Danny Sackfield. He had this to say:

Well what a shock this is for you all ey? I, myself are shocked at me being named manager and i hope i can re-pay the chairmans faith in me to get us out of a relegation fight and back up the table where we belong. I know that we are near the bottom and a few points off our nearest rivals but i know that i can get the team motivated again and get as far away from relegation as soon as i can with the short amount of time i have to do it in. it will be tough i just hope that my team will allow me to tinker with what they know already as i will have to add my style of management into what they already know.

With a game already scheduled for tonight against Portsmouth in the3rd round of the Carling Cup i will have to work quickly and round my troops up for a quick training session, which they will only have a limited amount of time to impress me before the match. I think thats all for now as i must get to my team. Thank you

--------------------------

Chairman announces expectation

The chairman called me into his office to tell me what he wanted doing. As we were near the bottom he only wanted me to keep out of relegation. Also he wasnt happy with the wage budget as it was £24.5k over their budget and he wanted it trimmed down as soon as possible. he gave me £500k to improve the squad but with being £200k in debt when i took over i didnt delve into the transfer market first.

A few of the big earners went on the transfer list and a few got some interest. One player which would move was Barry hayles. He was in the reserves and was getting paid a whhopping £6k a week. I tried to terminate his contract but he wouldnt settle for a deal. No clubs offered for him so i just had to hope he would leave sooner or later. Bids for Darren ward were accepted from Crewe and it was just a waiting game on him agreeing terms and me getting £600k for him. A few teams came in for Dean Richard and Muscat and are now negotiating terms with the bidders.

I managed to grab a player on a free to be a player/coach. ole Gunnar Solskjaer signed on a 3 year deal, unfortunately he was retiring at the end of season so i just had to hope i could get him to stay on. A few offers for players were being thought over by there clubs so i just had to wait.

---------------------------

The Matches

Portsmouth v Millwall Carling Cup 3rd Round 3-0 Lost

My first match didnt go to plan. I didnt have much time with my squad so i just picked whoever i though could do a job. Obviously they couldnt. I wasnt ecpecting anything as Portsmouth were top of the Championship and were favourites for the match. They went in front on 6 minutes as Reyna smashed the ball past my keeper who had no chance. We had a chance to level the match on 26 minutes as Huckerby got brought down in the area and the ref gave a penalty. up stepped Patrick berger who missed. This wasnt turning out too well. We came out in the second half looking for a quick goal. Unfortuantely it was Portsmouth that got it as Stefanovic headed the ball into the net on 47 minutes from a well worked corner. Kamara sealed the win on 86 as he rounded my keeper to make it 3-0. Hopefully we can pick ourselves up from this defeat.

Hull v Millwall 5-3 Win League

Well we started this match like the cup match as Hull went ahead on 6 minutes. They doubled their lead on 20 minutes which made it even harder for us now. Huckerby got us off the mark on 35 minutes from a powerful shot that the keeper had no chance of saving. Richards got us an equaliser on half time as he smashed a great free kick into the top corner from 25 yards out. hull went back into the lead on 50 minutes after some slack defending. Harris levelled the match again on 58 minutes as Huckerby played him through to slide the ball into the goal. With time running out for us i needed some magic to happen. Idiakez provided the magic on 85 minutes as he got in behind the Hull defence and put the ball into the net. surely the winner. Patrick Berger finished off Hull on 91 minutes with a well placed shot which brought me my first win andmuch needed 3 points. Great fightback.

Millwall v Leeds 1-1 Draw League

After that great win it was time to play our rival manager Rob. Both started off well but Leeds got the first real chances to score. They took one of their chances very well as Thompson netted on 33 minutes. We were being out played as Leeds had some great players. WE carried on though and we finally got the breakthrough we needed. A penalty. up stepped Huckerby who slotted the ball into the net. The ball went from one end to the other but neither team could grab a winner. A fair result i thought.

Sheffield United v Millwall 2-1 lost league

We got off to a great start today as Eirik Bakke found the net from a well placed shot on 6 minutes. just what we needed an early goal. Sheff utd didnt want to wait long as they grabbed an equaliser on 20 minutes. Our heads fell as Sheff utd battered our goal but somehow we managed to keep them out. 38 minutes gone and Sheff utd grabbed their 2nd goal which turned out to be the winner. i couldnt get my team to score as we ran out 2-1 losers and fell into the bottom 3 of the league.

Hartlepool – The rouchie years

Another bout of internationals meant that we were halfway through October before we played again! Mind you, after the last couple of games in September it was just as well! Paul Rouch took advantage of the break and took his squad off to the sunnier climes of Great Yarmouth for a week for a bit of R & R and team bonding. With the team sitting just outside the play off zone despite the last two results, Rouch is looking for a run to move them further up the table and into contention.

Versus Oxford (A) 14th October 2006

A bizarre own goal in the 1st minute gave Hartlepool the upper hand immediately. Strachan bossed the midfield as the away team dominated but failed to add to the early score, but keeping a clean sheet meant all three points came back on the coach with the ‘pool. icon14.gif

A competitive game which saw Richie Humphreys stretchered off the field after only 7 minutes icon_mad.gif The Cherries took the lead in the second half when Connell slotted home. Strachan grabbed the equaliser 7 minutes later and the ‘pool lay siege to the Bournemouth end, making the keeper really earn his MOM accolade. icon_rolleyes.gif

Versus MK Dons (A) 28th October 2006

After some decent performances and having moved up to 6th position, the last game of the month was away to the Franchise club, MK Dons. The Dons had the upper hand from the outset and just seemed that little bit quicker to everything and it was no surprise when McLeod grabbed the goal just on half time, which was enough to secure him the MOM award. Despite changing things around in the second half, Hartlepool were unable to bridge the gap and lost to the solitary goal of the game icon_frown.gif

Ward was sold to hull for £600k to give us some money and get his huge wages off our books. The Hull fans were delighted to have signed such aplayer.

Danny Dichio also left The Den as we terminated his contract and gave him a payment of £85k.

The Matches

Brighton v Millwall Drew 2-2 League

A good game today saw us take a point from a tough ground. Brighton went ahead on 20 minutes after Day kept hold of the ball too long. 35 minutes gone and Solksjaer scores a great goal on his debut. Brighton took the lead again on 78 minutes when spector found himself in trouble and Brighton took advantage of it. Solksjaer finished off a great debut on 80 minutes as harris played him through to slot the ball past the keeper. harris also got MOM.

Millwall v Bristol City Won 1-0 League

Another tough game this after noon saw us entertain Bristol City at The Den. Things looked bad for us on 35 minutes as Srioux gave away a penalty. Fortunately Bristol couldnt score from the spot and the scores stayed 0-0. We scored the winning goal on 57 minutes as Solskjaer crossed the ball for Bakke who smashed the ball into the top corner of the goal. Super strike. A great win is what we needed to drag us out of the relegation fight for the time being.

Wolverhampton v Millwall Drew 1-1 League

A tough trip to Wolves today as they needed the points to stay inthe hunt for automatic promotion and we needed the points just to stay in the league. They took advantage on 38 minutes as Sturridge got behind my defence and shot a ball past the Keeper. 1-0. They piled on the pressure but we kept the scoreline to 1-0. We finally saved a point on 73 minutes as another super shot from Bakke nearly broke the net, a great goal to make it 1-1.

Millwall v Norwich Won 1-0 League

Today saw two of the manager battle it out in a relegation clash. It was a must win for both teams. It was a very tight game with both teams having some great passing moves which nearly got both a goal. Darren Huckerby grabbed the winner on half time as he scored a well worked goal. norwich continued to press but our new keeper Kuszczak kept them out and fully deserved his Man of the Match. This win saw us go further away from the bottom 3.

The Owls Observer - It's drawing heaven for the Owls!!!

With almost half the season gone already Hepburn's Owls find themselves sitting in 11th position after seventeen games and a place in the Carling Cup semi finals against Tottenham. It has been a superb season so far for the Owls considering the club's financial worries. Here is a run down of the latest games....

The League Campaign

Man City v Sheffield Wednesday - (A) - 1-1

After that extraordinary performance at home to Arsenal it was back onto their travels for the Owls. The Owls came into the game with City full of confidence but found a City side on a great run as well. Both teams started brightly with City having the better of the chances created and found themsleves one up after only seven minutes through Anelka. They went onto dominate most of the first half and but for some poor finishing could have been further ahead. The Owls were just glad to be going in at half time only 1-0 down. Hepburn knew he had to change things and went 442 with Mokoena being given a free role to do what he wanted. it proved a successful change as the owls started the second half a lot better and had City under alot of pressure. The Owls goal came from an unlikely source in Sama from a corner but Hepburn wasn't complaining. The Wosl should have went on to win the game as they created some great opportunites but David james was the City hero as he kept the owls out and the game finished 1-1. A poor first half was made for with a great second half showing to at least get a point from a difficult game.

Sheffield Wednesday v Liverpool - (H) - 1-1

Yet another huge match at Hillsborough as the Owls welcomed Liverpool with their assortment of superstars. The game was a really tight tense affair with no one team dominating the game. The Owls stifled the midfield to combat Gerrard and co and it worked although it meant the Owls were not the attacking force they usually are. Mokoena put the Owls ahead with less than twenty minutes to play with the Owls first real menaingful attack in the game but Liverpool repsonded almost immediately through Milan Baros and the points were shared. Two draws in a row were better than no points at all for the Owls.

Middlesboro v Sheffield Wednesday - (A) - 1-0 Defeat

The Owls' mini unbeaten run came to an end against bottom doge Middlesboro who really tore the Owls apart with some fantastic football. Hepburn was far from happy with his team's performance and kept the players in the dressing room long after the final whistle. The only plus point in this game was the fact that it was only 1-0 as the Owls were terrible today.

Sheffield Wednesday v Blackburn - (H) - 1-1

The Owls' failure to find that winning touch was starting to concern Hepburn who had seen his team draw two games and lose against Middlesboro and in the process only score two goals. This game was dominated by the away side as the Owls struggled to cope with John Stead and Morten Gamst Pedersen. They had David Lucas to thank as he had a fine game in the Owls goal. Against the run of play however, the Owls took a shock lead through Guy Demel who fired in a great shot form the edge of the area after a Harbuzi cut back. The Owls fans thought they would go and take control of the game as did Hepburn but Blackburn battled back into the game and managed to score an equaliser through Jonathan Stead and it was deserved as they had been the better team throughout. Yet another draw for the Owls but it was the performance that really worried Hepburn as his team are just not playing to their full potential at the moment.

Sheffield Wednesday v Southampton - (H) - 0-0

The Owls put in a much better performance against Southampton but again drew a blank in front of goal as the finishing from the Owls was not Premiership standard. Hepburn was pleased with the performance overall as he admitted they had not been playing well recently and said his team would be looking to build on this performance.

The League Cup Experience

So in the third round of the league cup Birmingham made the trip to Hillsborough and the Owls quickly sent them packing out of the League Cup in what was a great performance from the Owls. The tie was over at half time as the Owls were 2-0 up courtesy of a double from Mokoena. Birmingham tried to mount a comeback in the second half but the Owls defence was up to the challenge. Ryan Smith made it 3-0 in injury time to cap a fine team performance from the Owls.

In round four the Owls had to go to Millmoor to face Rotherham in what proved to be a testing game as Rotherham played way above themselves and gave the Owls a huge shock with their approach. It took two second half goals from Luis Costa to save the Owls blushes and send them through to the Quarter Finals with a tie against Aston Villa at Hillsborough. In the quarter final it was a real showpiece. It was end to end football of the highest quality that could not be settled until the dreaded penalty shootout. It was a case of hero turned to villian for Daniel Bierofka as he had equalised for Villa during the game but missed the penalty that sent the Owls through to the semi finals of the League Cup where they will face Tottenham.

Titties Update

Games missed in last 2 sessions:

West Ham 0 Bristol C 1

Bristol C 2 Derby 1

Hull 2 Bristol C 1

Bristol C 0 Leeds 0

Millwall 1 Bristol C 0

Bristol C 0 Brighton 2

Sheff Utd 1 Bristol C 0

Wolves 0 Bristol C 1

So a mixed set of results in my absence, most dissapointing were the results against Leeds and Millwall. It's always good to get a win against fellow human managers, but my ass man wan't up to the task.

So on now to tonights session:

English Championship

Norwich (H) 12th December 2006

So a home game against new boy Wayne's Norwich, who is so confident that he has left his ass man in charge. Norwich take the lead after 20 minutes. And it's 1-0 at half time. 61 minutes gone and its apenalty for Bristol which Trond Anderson slots home. 4 minutes later Danny Coles pounce on a loose ball and slots home to make it 2-1. 83 minutes on the clock and Wallace receives his second yellow and heads for an early bath. Into injury time and Linz slots home to make it 3-1.

Bristol C 3 Norwich 1

MOM: Steve Phillips 9(Bristol C)

Goal Scorers: Anderson(pen61)Coles (65)Linz (91)

Assists: Burke(65)Sanchez(91)

ATT:18715

So a fantastic result for the titties, Wayne won't be happy when he gets back.

English Championship

QPR (A) 16th December 2006

Away at Rob's old QPR boys, let's see if they are better off without him? And it takes only 30 seconds for the Rs to get on the scoresheet. 5 minutes later they make it 2. With only 7 minute gone Bristol are awarded a penalty however Kelly misses it. 25 minutes on the clock and Kelly takes the ball from the keeper wide and crosses for Burke to head into an empty goal. 2 minutes of injury time played in the first half and Sanchez finds hinslef through on goal and slots it past the keeper for the equaliser. Half time. Into the second half and once again it takes only 3 minutes for QPR to take the lead, 3-2. And that's how it finishes.

QPR 3 Bristol C 2

MOM: Rowlands 9(QPR)

Goal Scorers: Burke(25)Sanchez(47)

Assists: Kelly(25)Burke (47)

ATT:19129

An exciting game there but a poor result, however we are still sitting in 6th place.

A disasterous Session this week.

Transfer In

Ingemar Teevar signs in a deal worth £500k from Leeds united to bolster my attack.

Transfers Out

Robbie Blake went to Barnsley in a deal worth £300k. This got much needed money of the wage budget.

QPR v Millwall Lost 1-0 League

We kept the game close this match as we kept out playoff hopefuls QPR. WE couldnt break down their defence either. They took the lead on 81 minutes from a Counago goal from close range. Which turned out to be the winner.

Millwall v Plymouth Drew 0-0 League

Not much to report in this match as we couldnt score to save our lives. I was very dissappointed with the performance.

Portsmouth v Millwall Lost 5-0 League

Well what a disaster this afternoon. Pompey got onthe scoresheet after just 23 minutes after Lua Lua scored a great goal. The doubled their lead on 45 minutes as Johnson made it 2-0. O'Neil got their 3rd on 53 minutes as the match was truning into a farce. They made their lead bigger on 63 minutes when Lua Lua grabbed his 2nd match. Reyna seled the goalscoring on 71 minutes as Portsmouth ran out easy winners. I was not best pleased with this match.

Tranmere v Millwall Lost 2-1 League

Another loss as Tranmere took their time to beat us. We went ahead on 47 minutes as Teever got his first goal for us. Brown got an equaliser for Tranmere on 73 minutes. We let our 1 point go as Thorpe scored scored a penalty on 88 minutes to seal the win.

Millwall v Crystal Palace Won 3-2 League

We finally managed a win as we overcame Crystal palace. Bakke put us into the lead on 36 minutes after a great shot bent round thekeeper. morris doubled our lead on 50 minutes. Palace hit us with 2 goals in 2 minutes as Diouf scored on 75 minutes and Dayton scored on 77 minutes. Teever grabbed a late winner on 82 minutes to seal the win.

Leeds.jpg

2nd May 2005

After a shaky start, Rob Young is finding his feet as Leeds manager and the team has started producing results. He is still promising promotion and fully expects the team to deliver. George Burley has been brought in as Assistant Manager and his experience is beginning to show.

After spending the beginning of the season rooted to the bottom of the league with 5 defeats and 1 draw from the first 6 games, he has got them up to 12th and only 6 points off a play-off place. Results started improving when Young signed Joey Barton from Man City and brought in Francesc Fabregas on loan for the season. This pairing in midfield have started to dominate games and the team now create lots of chances in each game.

Leeds recent unbeaten run of 10 games only produced 4 wins showing that the team are failing to finish off teams especially given the amount of chances produced.

Rob is yet to find a top quality goalscorer and Haisselbaink and Teever have already been shipped out and Fowler is yet to reach full fitness. Steven Thompson is the current top scorer but Young isn’t happy with a player that wastes the majority of chances.

Millwall v Burnley - Drew 2-2 League

Well after the poor last results we needed to find our feet again. Berger got us on the scoresheet after just 8 minutes. Burnley levelled on 19 minutes. We took the lead again just before half time on 41 minutes as Teever grabbed us a goal. Burnley saved a point on 72 minutes.

Preston v Millwall - Won 3-0 League

We nearly got off to a bad start as Preston won a penalty. Fortunately for us, Broomes missed. Hjartarson scored on his debut on 44 minutes to take us into the lead at half time. he grabbed his 2nd on 63 minutes to round off a great debut. Solksjaer finished off the match with a goal on 80 minutes. A great win for us.

Millwall v Playmouth - Won 3-1 FA Cup 3rd Round

Hjartarson carried on his great start at the club witha goal on 18 minutes. he doubled his goal tally and our lead on 42 minutes. A good buy he was turning out to be. Plymouth grabbed a goal back on 51 minutes to give them a glimmer of hope. Harris buried the tie on 78 minutes to take us into the 4th round of the Cup and a potential big game.

Gillingham v Millwall - Lost 1-0 League

A must need win this was for us today as both teams were on level points and 3 points would of done us a world of good to get away from relegation. We pounded their goal but just couldnt break it down. Gillingham scored the only goal of the match on55 minutes.

Norwich v Millwall - Lost 1-0 FA Cup 4th Round

A battle of two of the managers today. We had the first opportunities to take the lead but all our shots missed. neither team could force their way through in the first half. We came out fighting in the second half but norwich got the decisive goal on 71 minutes which turned out to be the winning goal. I have to say im gutted to be going out in the 4th round.

Now i have to concentrate on the league and get as far away from the Relegation battle as i can

The Owls Observer - It's a yo-yo thing!!!!!

Wednesday's season is transpiring it something resembling a yo-yo. They seem to put a mini unbeaten run together and then go and ruin their work from the previous games by going on a losing streak!!!! Hepburn however is more than happy as he has said all along his aim is to aviod relegation and keep the Owls in the Premiership and build on wherever they finish.

He commented, "I have stated to you lot before this season had begun that my team was not gonna be challenging for europe or the league, all I care about is keeping this team in the Premiership. If that happens I will be a happy happy man. Anything other than that is a bonus. The board know my position and they are happy with what I have to say".

They are looking like staying in the division with some good performances especially at home. Here is a run down of the latest games....

The League Campaign

Aston Villa v Sheffield Wednesday - (A) - 4-0 Defeat

A quite shocking performance from the Owls here as Villa tore them apart. The defence was as easy to get through as a ten pence hooker and the midfield was almost as bad. The only plus point was there attacking play was good and they just could not find a way past Sorensen in the Villa goal. Very poor.

Sheffield Wednesday v Fulham - (H) - 3-1 Defeat

Following a dismal performance at Villa the Owls fans were hoping for another great performance at home to get them back on track. On this occasion it didn't happen as Fulham led by Malbranque proved too much for the Owls to handle. The Fulham team seemed one step ahead of the Owls. The passing was much quicker and crisper and they pressed the Owls at every opporuntity and didn't let get going. ANother poor performance although Hepburn defended his players admirably although deep down he knew they would have to play a lot better to get back to winning ways.

Sheffield Wednesday v Sunderland - (H) - 1-1

Sunderland must have left Hillsborough thinking how they did not win this game, just like the Owls left the Stadium of Light wondering why they didn't win. The Owls got off to the best possible start as Mokoena put them ahead after only two minutes but from then on there was only one time intent on winning this game. The Owls defending well but eventually the Black cats pressure told and they got the equaliser they richly deserved. David Lucas put in a great performance in goal to keep the score level. Better performance defensivley but overall still not good enough.

Tottenham v Sheffield Wednesday - (A) - 4-0 Defeat

Hepburn described this performance as the worst he had witnessed his team play since he took over. Hepburn had defended his team in the past but he publically critised his players as he was fuming at what he had just seen. The less said about this game the better.

Sheffield Wednesday v Man Utd - (H) - 2-1 Defeat

The last thing Hepburn wanted was an inform Man Utd side when his team are shipping goals as if they were freebies. His players seemed fired up for this one as they started really well and took Man utd by surprise a little. The Owls took an early lead through ex Man Utd player Jordi Cruyff who turned Rio Ferdinand and slammed home a shot from the edge of the area. They tried to find a second but couldn't get through the Man Utd defence. in the second half class told in the end as Man Utd finally got going and scored twice through Rooney and Jorge Lopez to hand Man Utd the points. Much better performance from the Owls and Hepburn was a lot happier than before.

Sheffield Wednesday v Charlton - (H) - 5-0 Win for the Owls

What a game this was for the Owls fans. They went into this game on the back of a good performance against Man Utd and it showed as they were ahead after only two minutes. It was the first of four goals for Luis Costa who put in a great individual performance as part of a superb team performance. Some might say it was aided byt he sending off of Salif Diao but that is taking no shine off what was a brilliant day for the Owls. Jamie Victory got the other goal.

Bolton v Sheffield Wednesday - (A) - 2-0 Win for the Owls

Last years runaway winners of the Championship Bolton were the Owls next opponents and hoping to at last beat them after losing twice to them last season. A goaless first half left the Owls wondering if this was not meant to be their day as they passed up chance after chance to go in front. Bolton came back strongly in the second half but the Owls defnce stayed solid. With two minutes to go Harbuzi finally put the Owls ahead with a great run and shot. Better was to follow as they went two ahead courtesy of a Jordi Cruyff penalty to seal a terrific win for the Owls.

The League Cup Experience

The first leg of the semi final was at Hillsborough and what a game it was for the Owls. They ran out 4-2 winners in a great game that had fans from both sides on the edge of their seats. The Owls fell behind as early as the second minute as Mirosevic scored a penalty. Mokoena had the Owls level almost immediately with a great header. A disaster for Guy Demel put Spurs 2-1 up but again the Owls never gave it up and equalised through Costa as the teams went in 2-2 at half time. In the second half it was more Sheffield Wednesday pressure as they went in search of the lead to take to White Hart Lane. The lead did come through a Mirosevic own goal and then only three minutes later it was 4-2 as Mokoena slammed home from inside the area. The Owls should have made it 5-2 before the end but Mokoena's shot was well saved by Robinson who incidently has left Spurs to go to Aston Villa for £8.5 million to help the Owls' push for a return the Millenium stadium, where they have some fond memories.

The FA Cup

At this early stage in the FA Cup the Owls are out of the competition due to a shock 3-2 loss at the hands of Stoke who were the better team on the day as the Owls looked tired from their Christmas period excertions.

This was after a gruelling third round tie with Blackburn. The tie went the whole distance right down to the penalty shoot out at Hillsborough that the Owls eventually won 3-1. So another season in the FA Cup is over but they still have league survival and a possible League Cup final to look forward to.
