Hepburn moves to the Cottage!!!!!

Breaking news here as Andrew Hepburn has sensationally left Sheffield Wednesday and decided to take the manager's job at Fulham after more than three years in charge at the Owls.

Hepburn commented when quizzed about his sensational move, " It was a tough decision to leave the Owls after spending three great years at the club working with some of the best staff and players I could have wished for. The fans have been absolutely sensational in my time at the club and have backed me since day one.

However at the end of the day I feel I had taken the team as far as I could and when Fulham asked permission to speak to me I jumped at the chance to manage such a big club with similar ambitions to my own. It will be a tough job here at Fulham as the club are lying in 17th postion but I feel I can get this club to be one of the best clubs in England and hopefully Europe with the backing of the chairman, players and fans alike. I can't wait to get started.

So there you have it Hepburn has left Sheffield to the bright lights of London. Let's see how he does at Fulham.

The Fulham Festivities - Conservative start made by Hepburn!!

After the hysteria of his move to the Cottage it was now down to the hard business of getting this failing team back up the league after the dismal start to the season they made. Here is a run down of his first few games in charge.....

The League Campaign

Southampton v Southampton - (A) - 2-1 Win for Fulham

Hepburn's first game in charge of Fulham saw his team travel to the south coast to take on fellow strugglers Southampton. An entertaining game as it was end to end stuff as both teams were really after the win. All the goals came in the second half as neither team seemed capable of taking their chances in the first half. Early in the second half the breakthrough for Fulham came and it was Claus Jensen who grabbed the first of of Hepburn's reign in charge of Fulham. It got even better seven minutes later as Robert Earnshaw made it 2-0 to Fulham and Hepburn seemed on course for a comfortable win in his first game in charge. However after the seocnd goal the Saints started throwing everything at Fulham and pulled a goal back almost immediately but in the end it was not enough to prevent Hepburn winning his first game in charge of Fulham.

Wolves v Fulham - (A) - 3-3

After that win at the Saints it was off to Wolves for Fulham and in search of win number two. Another action packed, chances galore game that saw six goals and a point a piece at the end of it all. Wolves took a first half lead through Ki-Hyeon but Fulham did have their chances to equalise most notabley through Anelka. In the second half Fulham stepped up the pressure and Claus Jensen grabbed his second goal in two games to bring Fulham level. Jensen then went on to grab all the headlines by scoring another two goals to put Fulham 3-1 ahead. The final ten minutes the Fulham defence will want to forget as two mistakes gave Wolves a share of the points and Hepburn was not best pleased at the end of the game.

Fulham v Liverpool - (H) - 2-0 Defeat

Hepburn's first game at the Cottage and what a game as Liverpool came to town. The game itself turned out to be a disappointment as Liverpool dominated the game and ran out 2-0 winners. Two first half goals from Ferguson and Jenas had Liverpool coasting to victory. Hepburn's team faired better in the second half but could not break down a well drilled LIverpool defence. Disappointing but the second half performance was encouraging as they did manage to put Liverpool under a bit of pressure.

Tottenham v Fulham - (A) - 2-2

Fulham missed an excellent chance to grab three more points at White Hart Lane as they tore Tottenham apart but could not finish the numerous amount of real chances they created. They got off to a great start as a revitalised Claus Jensen grabbed another goal to put Fulham ahead. Ledley King equalised for Tottenham against the run of play when he caught the Fulham defence napping. Only three minutes later Fulham were ahead again as Knight scored his first goal of the season with a superb strike from the edge of the area. They continued to dominate the first half but could not find a third goal. In the second half Tottenham came out a different team and started playing some football and putting Fulham under real pressure as they went in search of the equaliser. Fulham again missed opportunities to increase their lead and eventually they were made to pay as in the last minute Jermaine Defoe scored a dramatic equaliser to give Tottenham an undeserved share of the points.

Fulham v Sheffield Wednesday - (H) - 2-0 Win for Fulham!!

A hugely emotional match for everyone involved as Hepburn's Fulham welcome Hepburn's old side Fulham to the Cottage. The Owls fans were out in full force and gave Hepburn a barrage of abuse everytime he stepped out his dugout. The Fulham were cheering every movement Hepburn made throughout the game in retaliation, it made for a great atmosphere in this highly charged contest. The game itself was dominated by Fulham but much like the last game could not find their shooting boots. They passed up chance after chance and the Fulham fans were wondering if they were ever gonna score. The goals finally came in the last ten minutes Collins John and Keiron Dyer scored them and gave Fulham three precious points. At the end of the game a few Sheffield players tried to get at Hepburn but security was up to the task and escorted them away before it got really ugly between the teams.

Fulham v Bolton - (H) - 2-0 Win for Fulham!!

It was another late late show for Fulham in this game as fulham kept their fans on the edge of their seats as they toiled in front of goal yet again. They dominated the game but chances were created a missed just as easily. Goals from Anelka and Dyer gave Fulham another three points.

Aston Villa v Fulham - (A) - 1-0 Defeat

This was a game where fulham were made to pay for their missed chances. A game they should have at least got a point from ended in defeat and Hepburn will need to bring in a striker who can score these chances that are being created almost at will in recent games. It looks like Earnshaw and Anelka are just not up to the task and they were guilty of numerous misses and not being clinical enough. Villa's Steed Malbranque was the hero for Villa scoring the winner. Credit also has to go to Villa keeper Paul Robinson who was in unbelievable form to keep Fulham out.

Fulham v Newcastle - (H) - 1-1

A tough game for Fulham as Newcastle came to the Cottage intent on leaving with three points. They immediately had Fulham on the back foot and Fulham just could not get going in the first half. Kallstrom put the Magpies ahead with a goal on the half hour and could have been further ahead but for some excellent goalkeeping from Dudek. In the second half Fulham managed to get back into the game and started putting Newcastle under some pressure and grabbed an equaliser through Jensen but could not find a winner.

Man Utd v Fulham - (A) - 6-1 Defeat

Absolutely crap. No comment on this pile of pish!!!

Hartlepool.jpg

Hartlepoll v Watford Won 1-0 League

We played 2nd in tehe league today and it was always going to be a hard game. WE managed to grab a very quick goal after just 54 seconds. Day struck a great shot that flew past the GK. We held on for the great win. Unfortunately, new signing Sutton is out for a month

Hartlepool v Torquay Lost 3-1 League

We came up against a struggling TOrquay side to day. We went in the lead on 17 minutes after Loanee James Vaughan grabbed a great goal on 17 minutes. Torquay took over the match as they scored 3 goals to take the win. A dreadful match for my team.

Blackpool v Hartlepool Won 3-0 Leagues

We came up against Edans Blackpool today and the 3 points would of done us both good. Thankfully we managed to get the 3 points. Williams scored a great goal on 15 minutes to put us in the lead. It all went wrong for Blackppol on 30 minutes as they went down to 10 men. We took over as Foley grabbed a 2nd which put the match beyond doubt. Williams grabbed his 2nd on 88 minutes to grab a great win for us.

Hartlepool v Derby Lost 3-2 League

Mid table Derby was the game today. They took the lead after just 8 minutes after some crap defending. vaughan equalised on 23 minutes. Just before half time and Derby took the lead again. Once again we levelled the match on 58 minutes from a Day shot but were soon behind again as Derby scored the winner on 77 minutes.

Rotherham v Hartlepool Lost 3-1 League

We took the lead on 34 minutes after Vaughan continued his great form . We held out until the 75th minute whhen Rotherham chucked everything at us. They scored 3 goals on 75, 82 and 86 minutes to seal the win.

Hartlepool v Nottingham Forest Lost 2-1 FA Cup 3rd Round

WE came up against high flying Forest today in the FA Cup. I wasnt expecting anything from this match as Forest had a superb team. They took the lead after just 20 minutes. Foley grabbed an equaliser on 43 minutes. All was looking good for a replay when Forest scored on 83 minutes. Our heads dropped and we didnt have much time to grab an equaliser. We fought well and i was proud of my team.

Huddersfield v Hartlepool Won 4-3 League

After our Cup exit we now only had the League to concentrate on. my team seemed to pick themselves up as Foley scored after just 3 minutes. he grabbed his 2nd on Half time. Huddersfield grabbed a goal back on 66 minutes but Vaughan put us back 2 ahead on 72 minutes. Huddersfield rpulled another back on 79 minutes. Vaughan made it 4-2 on 88 minutes which sealed the match. Huddersfield had 1 last attack to make it 4-3 but it was too late.

Hartlepool v Cambridge Won 3-0 League

We carried on our good league form as Foley scored on 16 minutes. Day doubled our lead on 66 minutes. Williams grabbed his 10th of the season on 83 minutes to give us all 3 points.

MK DOns v Hartlepool Won 1-0 League

Another tough match today as we travelled to MK Dons. Vaughan looks unstoppable of late as he grabbed the only goal of the match on 34 minutes.

Hartlepool v Northampton Drew 0-0 League

A boring 0-0 today and nothing to report.

Hartlepool v oxford Lost 1-0 League

Oxford grabbed the only goal of the game on 41 minutes. We couldnt grab an equaliser and lost 1-0.

Peterborough v Hartlepool Drew 0-0 League

Another 0-0 to finish the session.

Afternoon all, just a quick note to say that I won't be there tonight as I have to work. Some students are having a party at the pub and bringing about 100 people and apparently I am the nest barman so I have to work. My boss has apologised repeatedly for making me miss the game, but I'll be back in action on Monday. See you all then.

Crewe – Onwards and Upwards

After a very merry Christmas and a happy new year which saw Crewe moving to within touching distance of the playoffs, The Railwaymen were keen to extend their good run and improve their league position!

Versus Coventry (A) 1st January 2008

A fine away performance saw Crewe dominate and loan star Dexter Blackstock grabbed a well deserved opener. Kevin Jacmot continued to impress the Crewe faithful when he doubled the advantage just past the hour. The home side left it too late to offer any sort of resistance when Stern John scored with a last gasp effort, which disguised the level of dominance that Crewe had enjoyed icon_cool.gif

Final Score Coventry 1 Crewe 2

Goals : Coventry John (90)

Goals : Crewe Blackstock (30) Jacmot (61)

ATT 17047

MOM : Gareth Williams (Crewe)

Versus Hull (H) 5th January 2008 – FA Cup 3rd Round

A very poor result for Crewe in the sense that they did not really deserve to lose this one! 2 goals late in the second half from Barmby then Allsopp and a MOM performance from Hull defender Stephen Kelly ensured an ill deserved victory for the Tigers icon_frown.gif

Final Score Crewe 0 Hull 2

Goals : Hull Barmby (75) Allsopp (81)

ATT 10089

MOM : Stephen Kelly (Hull)

Versus Stoke (H) 13th January 2008

A very tight game which developed in to a real cat and mouse affair! Plenty of chances were created but the defensive play and goalkeeping were of such a high standard that only the one goal was scored, and The Stoke defender Marcus Hall collected the MOM champagne!! The only goal came midway through the second half when Paul Huntington slotted home for the home side and set the Railwaymen back on to winning ways icon_biggrin.gif

Final Score Crewe 1 Stoke 0

Goals : Crewe Huntington (72)

Versus Tranmere (A) 22nd January 2008

Rouch was pleased with the spirit the side had shown and was urging them forward in search of the win! Vernazza seemed to pick up the hint and gave the railwaymen the lead on 73 minutes! He wrapped things up in the dying seconds when he secured his MOM award with a second goal to give Crewe a memorable victory! icon_cool.gif

Final Score Tranmere 2 Crewe 4

Goals : Tranmere Tomlinson (8, 45)

Goals : Crewe Kaebi (12) Wilson (49) Vernazza (73, 90)

Versus Hull (H) 26th January 2008

After losing to the Tigers in the cup, Rouch was determined to grab the three points in this encounter! The start did not bode well however, when Hull took the lead after a well rehearsed move which Allsopp finished! Glen Whelan equalised before the break and Petrescu scored seconds after coming on as a second half sub to give Crewe the lead. Petresu grabbed another in the dying seconds of the game and picked up the MOM award and a hefty pat on the back from his manager after helping Crewe to their 7th successive League win!!! icon_smile.gif

Crewe – Onwards and Upwards

Crewe are the form team as we go into February, sitting 3rd but in need of the top two to slip up, if they want to fight for an automatic promotion slot!

Versus Sheffield United (A) 2nd February 2008

An efficient and ruthless performance from the railwaymen on their travels saw them surgically slice the blades apart! First a goal from Hosain Kaebi in the first half, then Kyle Wilson in the second, and finally Vernazza! Each goal a result of a passing flowing game of football that Crewe embarrassed the home side with icon_biggrin.gif

Paolo Vernazza dragged Crewe back on to level terms before the break. Cresswells form continued in to the second half and he once again put the visitors in front, only to see Dexter Blackstock grabbing another Crewe equaliser minutes later!Kaebi sealed a remarkable comeback and rubbed salt in to Prestons wounds when he scored the winner in injury time! A disastrous start for the Railwaymen when Dean Bowditch put the home side ahead before the first minute was up! 1-0 to the Tractor Boys icon_frown.gif Ipswich dominated the exchanges in the first half and were a tad unlucky to be justy the one goal up when the ref blew for half time! I think a few tea cups must have been in need of repair in the Crewe dressing room as the team emerged a much improved outfit from that that had been so poor in the first 45! Crewes new found attacking flair finally paid off on the hour when fans favourite Kaebi slotted home the equaliser! Rouch changed things around and put on Glen Whelan after 67 minutes and he rewarded Rouch’s faith with the winning goal 4 minutes later icon14.gif Simon McCabe had an outstanding game and picked up the MOM award and a standing ovation as Crewe steamrollered to a 10th Successive win in the league!!

Titties Update

English Championship

Norwich (A) 12th January 2008

Another game against Norwich now and Johnston is hoping for all 3 points here. The game starts rather slow with nothing much happening for the first 15 minutes. But with 17 minutes on the clock Norwich push forward and gain a corner but nothing come of it. Another 15 minutes pass before Bristol have a free kick just outside the box, but it is put high and wide. Thats about it for the first half, some real boring football being played 0-0. Into the second half though and it looks like it will be a bit more lively with some chances at either end right from the start. The titties are getting excited because most of the chances seem to be falling to them but nobody is capable of finishing. Finally after 4 minutes of injury time this exciting game is brought to a close and it finishes 0-0.

Norwich 0 Bristol C 0

MOM: Amankwah 9 (Bristol C)

English Championship

Leeds (H) 22nd January 2008

Bristol City line up with almost a full strength team taoday at home to Leeds United. With some early pressure being applied it looks like they will be coming out on top today, with the first decent chance falling to Gillespie after only 50 seconds, but the keeper makes a good save to keep Leeds alive. However no more than a minute later Trond Anderson plays a lovely through ball to Roland Linz who slots the ball into the bottom corner with his first touch, the keeper had no chance. That's Linz's 10th goal of the season. Bristol keep up the pressure for the first 10 minutes with a number of shots flying in, but unfortunately none finding the target. With 18 minutes on the clock Amankwah wins the ball in the middle of the park and immediately sends Burke free down the right wing, who then sends a lovely cross to the edge of the box, which is met by the head of Radzewicz who cushions it down to Kopteff. Kopteff then plays the ball back through to Radzewicz who slots home to make it 2-0. More chances fall to Bristol before half time but some poor finishing means they have to settle for 2-0 at the break. Moving on to the second half and again Bristol look to apply the pressure in search of that goal that will kill off the game. And Gillespie forces a brilliant save out of Cudicini with only 9 minutes played. And again 4 minutes later. As the hour mark comes and goes Leeds manage to pull themselves back into the game slightly with some decent chances. However Bristol finally kill off the game in the 75th minute. Radzewicz plays a long ball down the left wing to Wilson who swings the ball into the center. His cross is met by the head of Burke who beats the keeper to make it 3-0. Despite some late chances for Leeds the game finishes 3-0, so a fantastic win for the Titties.

QPR (A) 26th January 2008

Back on the road now for the titties and this time they vist the Rs. After beating Leeds 3-0 the titties are hungry for goals. However the first half hour supplies nothing. A few chances then start to fall at either end until the 38th minute when QPR take the lead rather undeservedly. And the titties fail to return the favour before half time so they go in at the half a goal down.

Into the second half and it appears to be all QPR with only the odd half chance falling to Bristol. That is until the 81st minute when Linz finds himself 1 on 1 with the keeper, but his shot is smothered, only to be pounced on by Gillespie who slots home into an empty net to make it 1-1. Despite a last minute scare the titties take the point and are happy to do so.

English Championship

Cardiff (A) 2nd February 2008

A tricky away game for the titties now, but Johnston remains quietly confident. However with only 7 minutes on the clock some slack defending from Bristol sees Cardiff take the lead. So Bristol now have some hard work ahead of them. There are a few decent chances at either end before the referee blows his whistle for half time. But into the second half and Bristol look to claw back the 1 goal deficit. And with 81 minutes on the clock they finally get the goal they are looking for with Steven Gillespie slotting home from close range after a through pass from Danny Coles. So a good comeback from the titties gives them another away point.

Another quick update for the games left in the hands of the ass man.

Lost 0-1 at home to West Brom

Won 1-0 away to Coventry

Lost 0-1 at home to Hull

Drew 0-0 at home to Stoke

Won 2-0 away at Tranmere

So some mixed results see us sitting 12th in the league but only 8 points off a playoff spot with 11 games to go.

After 13 consecutive league victories and now within two points of the next opponents, Middlesbrough, this game was as big as they come, a real 6 pointer in every sense of the word!! A win would put Crewe into 2nd place a point clear of ‘Boro, a loss leaves them 5 points adrift icon_eek.gif The home side showed why they were occupying the automatic promotion slot right from the off. Massimo Maccarone scored the inevitable opener for the ‘boro, and Crewe were unable to respond, Boateng sealed the result in the second half and the railwaymen went home feeling very deflated and disappointed after their superb run of results came to a grinding halt at the cruellest of times! icon_frown.gif

The TV cameras were at Home Park to see this match, and Middlesborough had alreadyt played earlier and drew, so Crewe knew a win would put them very much back in touch with the automatic promotion slots! Dexter Blackstock netted midway through the first half, but Julian Speroni put on a MOM performance to ensure no one else got past him in the first half icon_eek.gif Ben May pulled the home side back on to level terms in the second half and for a long time it looked like Crewe were going to be unable to make up any ground on ‘boro after their earlier draw! Then Leigertwood nodded in a last minute corner to give Crewe the win they deserved and cut the gap to 3 points on ‘boro icon_biggrin.gif

All that good work was put in jeopardy when Henderson put the visitors back in front in the second half but Paul Huntington had other ideas and sweetly equalised just 8 minutes later! Crewe then peppered the Norwich goal with attack after attack, having one cleared off the line by a defender, hitting the post and even the crossbar as they sought to collect three points instead of one, but to no avail. A superb performance nonetheless. icon14.gif

Leeds took the lead against the run of play in the first half, when Joey Barton scored for Leeds on 38 minutes. The Fulham Festivities - On the up at the Cottage!!!

After a fairly ordinary start to managerial life at Fulham, Hepburn is slowly starting to work his magic on the team and they are starting to a good run of form together. After the nonsense that was the Manchester United game it was back to the drawing board to try and get the best out of this team Hepburn had inherited. Here is a rundown of the latest games....

Fulham v Blackburn - (H) - 3-1 Defeat

After the heavy defeat at the hands of Man Utd they were back at the Cottage to entertain a Blackburn side bang in form - The last thing Hepburn and his team needed. Fulham started very poorly, obviously still suffering from the humilation at Old Trafford. The last thing Hepburn's men needed was to concede an early goal but that's what they did and immediately the heads went down. Blackburn capitalised on this further and went two ahead minutes from half time before Kieron Dyer pulled a goal back for Fulham against the run of play it has to be said. Blackburn restored their two goal advantage right on half time. Second half was a bit of non event but Fulham managed to play a little better without actually creating too much in front of the Blackburn goal. Another poor performance here it has to be said.

Portsmouth v Fulham - (A) - 4-3 Win for Fulham

After two heavy defeats, Hepburn had to change the tactics and that is what he did for this game. They went 442 and looked much more solid throughout the whole team. Fulham started this game much better and looked the more likely side to be taking the lead until the 14th minute when Carter-Harris grabbed his first ever goal in football much to the displeasure of Hepburn. Fulham hit back immediately with an absolutely brilliant free kick from Bouma. What a way to get your first goal for your new club!! Fulham continued to put the Pompey defence under some serious pressure and three goals in three minutes effectively killed this match as a contest. First Earnshaw made it 2-1, Anelka then made it 3-1 and then Japanese sensation Nakamura made it 4-1 from the penalty spot to leave Pompey reeling. The second half Fulham almost threw the game away in the last ten minutes as Pompey pulled two goals back but thankfully Fulham held on for the three points.

Fulham v Charlton - (H) - 2-0 Win for Fulham

A London derby at the Cottage as Fulham entertained high flying Charlton who this season have turned into European contenders after a miserable season the season before. A closely fought game with Charlton perhaps feeling unlucky they did not come away with at leat a point and Hepburn having Dudek to thank for a fine individual performance in the Fulham goal. Fulham got off to a great start as Nakamura got an early goal that seemed to settle Fulham and they continued to dominate the early part of proceedings and grabbed a second goal through Anelka who is coming into a bit of form at last. Charlton upped their game after the second goal but it was all in vain as they never really managed to break down a stubborn Fulham defence and Fulham ran out 2-0 winners.

Everton v Fulham - (A) - 1-1

Fulham were lucky to escape from this with a draw as they were completely outplayed by an Everton side scrapping for Premiership safety. They were fired up and Fulham just could not get into their game for large parts of the game, especially in the first half where it could have been three or four nil. In the second half Hepburn changed things and they managed to scrape a draw with Anelka grabbing his third goal in three games to give Fulham an undeserved point.

Fulham v Arsenal - (H) - 1-0 Defeat

Fulham went into this game with a lot of confidence but came away from this game knowing they had been outclassed by a superior side. Fulham just could not cope with Henry and co's movement and one touch football. A joy to watch but not if your connected with Fulham. Fulham did manage to create a few chances but the Gunners dominated this one and should have scored more the one goal but credit to Dudek and his defence for standing firm. Things were not helped for Fulham with Boconegra getting himself sent off for two bookable offences mid way through the second half.

Chelsea v Fulham - (A) - 1-1

Two consecutive London derbies for Fulham as they made the short trip to Stamford Bridge to face Chelsea, pushing for a Champions League spot. Fulham got off to a shock start as they took the lead after only ten minutes when Earnshaw fired home after a great pass from Claus Jensen. Chelsea seemed disjointed and Fulham could have made it two but for some wonderful goalkeeping from Petr Cech. After that wake up call Chelsea dominated most of the game and got a deserved equaliser on the half hour mark through Chevaton. Chelsea had their chnaces to take the lead but Fulham held on for an impressive point.

So as the season draws to a close Hepburn has achieved a short term goal by keeping Fulham in the Premiership but will be looking for much more next season when new faces will be brought in to try and push Fulham further up the table come next May.

Titties Update

Match reports for the last 6 games of the season, following tonights session I will post a review of the season and a look at the season ahead.

English Championship

West Ham (H) 29th March 2008

So an important home game where nothing less than a victory will be acceptable if we are to keep up with the playoff positions. The game begins with a number of half chances falling to the Titties but unfortunately nobody is able to finish. But into the 38th minute and Radzewicz switches the ball from the left to Chris Burke on the right. Burke then floats a nice ball to the back post where Roland Linz is left to head into an empty net. And the first half ends at 1-0. Into the second half and again most of the chances fall to the titties. Then in the 53rd minute a long ball from Roland Linz beats the entire defence leaving Junior to run through and round the keeper to make it 2-0. With not much more action to report from the rest of the game it ends at 2-0. An important 3 points for the titties.

Bristol C 2 West Ham 0

MOM: Chris Burke 8(Bristol C)

Goal Scorers: Linz (38)Junior(53)

Assists: Burke(38)Linz(53)

ATT:20122

English Championship

Millwall (H) 5th April 2008

Another home game so hopefully another 3 points to take us closer to a playoff spot. But the game doesn't start off too well with most of the chances falling to Millwall and in 16 minutes they get a free kick outside the area which is fired into the top corner. Millwall continue to apply the pressure hoping to make it 2 before the break. But it doesn't happen and the half ends 1-0. Into the second and straight away Millwall extend their lead making it 2-0 after 46 minutes. The titties attempt to claw their way back into the game but to no avail as the game fades out and ends 2-0. A dissapointing defeat for the titties.

Bristol C 0 Millwall 2

MOM: Alex Morrison 8(Millwall)

ATT:19227

English Championship

Notts Forest (H) 16th April

Yet another home game for the titties, and a must win if we are to stay in with a shout of a playoff spot. The players obviously realise this fact as they head all out for a win. As Junior plays the ball to Linz outside the box and his spectacular long shot finds the back of the net making it 1-0. The titties continue looking for their second and the strike partnership hook up again. This time its Linz who puts Junior through on the keeper and he calmly slots it past and in for 2-0. So into the second half and its now a case of holding the lead. But after only 5 minutes a defensive mix up sees Notts Forest claw 1 back. Following this the titties go back on the offensive in the hope of killing off the game. But no need as the game ends 2-1. Another 3 points keeps us in with a chance of playoffs, but it's looking more and more unlikely as the teams above keep winning too.

Bristol C 2 Notts Forest 1

MOM: Aaron France 9(Notts Forest)

Goal Scorers: Linz (21) Junior (44)

Assists: Junior (21) Linz(44)

ATT:21210

English Championship

Plymouth (A) 19th April

So back out on the road and its a tricky game against Plymouth. Junior is given the first opportunity after only 8 minutes but he puts it over the bar. Then only 2 minutes later Plymouth move up the park and take the lead. And despit their best efforts the Titties are unable to get back into the game. But the keep it at 1-0 till half time. Into the second half and once again its Plymouth who are applying the pressure. However neither team is able to do anything for the rest of the game and it finishes 1-0. So the playoff hopes of the titties are over for this season.

Plymouth 1 Bristol C 0

MOM: Graham Coughlan 8(Plymouth)

ATT:20920

English Championship

Gillingham (H) 26th April

The final home game of the season but with nothing much to play for the titties look unmotivated for this game. But they do manage to take the lead on the half hour mark through Joseph Desire Job. And the first half ends 1-0. Onto the second and again its the titties with most of the pressure but after 75 minutes of play a counter attack sees Gillingham pull level. So the game finishes 1-1.

Bristol C 1 Gillingham 1

MOM: Figueroa 8(Bristol C)

Goal Scorers: Job(30)

Assists: Routledge (30)

ATT:19132

English Championship

Reading (A) 4th May 2008

So the biggest game of the season so far sees Robs Reading play host to Dave's Titties in an all important match-up. Its reading who get the first chance as they are given so much space down the wing. But they are unable to take any of their chances until the 33rd minute when Agbonlahor scores a close range effort to make it 1-0. And the first half ends so, with Reading by far the better team, the titties are just not motivated. The second half gets underway and its more of the same with Reading applying the pressure. Anthony Lurling adds another goal to their tally on the hour mark. And an own goal from Danny Coles after 73 minutes gives Reading a 3 goal lead. And thats the end. A dissapointing end to a dissapointing season.

Readin 3 Bristol C 0

MOM: Sharbel Touma 9(Reading)

ATT:24112

So there we have it. Another season over and Johnston manages to keep the titties in the Championship, but with early hopes of at least a playoff spot the fans go on their summer holidays with looks of disspointment. But Johnston has promised some better football for next season with some top freebies coming in during pre-season. And depending on the transfer budget more may be following soon.

The Fulham Festivities - Looking to the future

So the season is finally over and Hepburn is now looking ahead to the new season when he can bring in his own players and ship out those who he deems surplus to requirements. It has been a long season for Hepburn who is just getting into life at Fulham after an indifferent period when he first joined the club. Here is a run down of the final games of the season.....

Fulham v Wigan - (H) - 3-0 Win for Fulham

This was probably the best performance that Hepburn's Fulham have put in all season as they tore Wigan apart with some brilliant football. It could have been different had Coulibaly not missed from the penalty spot with the score still level. All of the Fulham goals came in the second half as Bouma grabbed his second goal for the club and then Anelka scored a double to seal a super win for Fulham.

Birmingham v Fulham - (A) - 1-0 Defeat

An even game that Hepburn felt his team should have taken something from. They passed up a few glorious opportunities and Birmingham took advantage as Kamara grabbed the winner for Brum.

Fulham v Sunderland - (H) - 1-1

Hepburn left the Cottage fuming as his team dropped two points when they should have taken all three. The game followed the trend of the previous game at Birmingham as Fulham failed to hit the target for most of the match. Sunderland took a shock lead after thirty five minutes as Aranda put the ball in the back of the net at the end of a super counter attack from Sunderland. For most of the match Fulham pressed and pressed but could not find a way through unitl nine minutes from time when Anelka finally got the equaliser Fulham deserved. The game should have been over long before this point but could not take the opportunities presented to them. An area that Hepburn will need to improve on next season if he wants his team challenging next season.

Man City v Fulham - (A) - 3-1 Win for Fulham

Whatever Hepburn did on the training ground between the Sunderland game and this game then it worked. Fulham were on fire in front of goal and Man City could not cope with the onslaught unitl it was too late. Anelka was the star of the show with a super double against one of his former clubs, one in either half with an Earnshaw goal sandwiched in between. When not attacking Fulham were doing their best defending and not letting City get into the game. City did manage to pull a goal back but it was not enough to spoil what was a fantastic Fulham performance.

Fulham v Southampton - (H) - 2-1 Defeat

A low key affair that at times almost seemed like a training ground game. Fulham were poor much to Hepburn's displeasure and I am sure he let his players know after the game what he thought of that performance. Dudek helped the Saints on their way with palming the ball into his own net. Youngster Darren Savage got Fulham back into the game on half time but the Saints regained their lead through Peter Crouch and they were worthy winners as Fulham were hopeless. A poor end to the season for Fulham losing at home but Hepburn remained positive and was already looking forward to next season.

So it is onto pre season for Fulham and it will be a busy time at the club with players leaving and new faces coming in to improve on the team ready for a better season next season.
