berty1978
Of course we inevitably seem to have more fans now we're a Champions League side. All Arab sides, looking at the teams that's quite a tricky group as the Saudi and Qatari sides seem to have more money to throw around.
berty1978
Sanat Sari F.C. - Season 2036/37 - update Although we are not scoring as freely as earlier in the season we're still grinding out the results. February started very well with us winning a couple of league games in between reaching the Champions League group stage. The shock defeat at Sepahan was poor but we came back well with three more wins in the league until another poor result, this time a home draw against Steel Azin. We have however started well in the group stages of the Champions League and two home wins and a defeat at Al-Ettifaq sees us top at the half way stage. berty1978
This is absolutely terrible, we had lost three of the last five games going into the final game. I expected Mes Kerman to win their final game at 15th placed Neft Tehran, meaning we had to win at 2nd placed Esteghlal as a draw wouldn't be enough due to head to head as we lost both games against Mes Kerman. After leading the league comfortably for much of the season we won it in the 89th minute of the final game, as expected Mes Kerman won their game so a draw wouldn't have been enough. berty1978
Sanat Sari F.C. - Season 2036/37 - Season review Fixtures 1 | Fixtures 2 League table | Graph Winning the league title was a bit close for comfort in the end but we managed it, just. The four league games without a win from the end of March through April really baffled me, we really should beat Steel Azin at home, and then the three defeats. Zob Ahan are a decent side but that was poor, Mes Kerman continue to be my nemesis as I think I've still not beaten them in the league with Sanat Sari, followed by a poor defeat at Sepasi. We got a good Champions League win in Qatar to get confidence levels up again in time for the remaining three games. We've also been successful in the Champions League so far, winning our group comfortably in the end and then getting through the first knockout stage after a win in Saudi Arabia. Squad stats Seasons best XI Key Players: Shahryar Ansari - Seems to have been around forever but still only 20 and performing well. Charles Chukwu - Our best defender and just slightly outperformed Ansari, hope to keep hold of him despite him wanting to move to a bigger club. Ahmad Alwan - Best season yet for the hard working Iraqi midfielder, well worth one of the foreign spots. Alireza Hatami - Brilliant again and was rewarded with the Iranian player of the season, at only 19. Ahmed Al-Lihiani - Well worth the high transfer fee in the end, slightly went off the boil towards the end of the season but managed 31 goals in all competitions, smashing the club record to pieces. berty1978
Sanat Sari F.C. - Season 2037/38 - update We had a couple of free foreign spots so got in a couple of freebies, and I'm always looking to get in quality Iranian players to the squad and we did that but had to spend big to do so. I'm really looking to finish the job in the Champions League and maybe finish the season and then move on. Jerónimo Falcioni - Really good goalkeeper and will probably take one of the foreign spots in the first team. Jonathan Martínez - Will probably just provide backup for Chukwu, but is a good defender in his own right. Ramin Nouri - A player I've been after for a while and despite not being interested in a move the contract offer did the talking. Essa Hussien - Smashed the transfer record on Hussein, needed the midfield strengthening and he fit the bill. That's not a bad draw but I'm sort of hoping I avoid Mes Kerman in the Semi-Finals. berty1978
Sanat Sari F.C. - Season 2037/38 - update We have made another good start to the season, though I won't get carried away yet as we're not clear and also what happened at the end last season. What has been pleasing so far is that we have beaten two good sides away in Teraktor Sazi, and in particular Persepolis who we thumped 4-0 in what was probably the best performance so far as manager of Sanat Sari. Zob Ahan are still a good side who have won titles but I would really like to be beating them at home, so in that respect I'm disappointed not to have maximum points so far. In the Champions League we stuttered into the Semi-Finals, though we should have made lighter work of a Japanese side who don't exist, and we are playing Mes Kerman in the Semis, should be fun. Interestingly Persepolis are also in the Semi-Finals meaning three Iranian clubs left, considering the last Iranian side to win the ACL was Pirouzi back in 1993 it's pretty remarkable, though Mes Kerman and Esteghlal have finished runners up recently. berty1978
You're all but in the final now and had a decent start to the season too. If you win the CL do you think you'll stick it out there or move on? Probably getting a bit ahead of myself there I'm playing Persepolis in the final, at home, not sure why that is and looking back at the history the final is always played at one of the finalists stadiums. Seems strange that Iranian teams have suddenly dominated in the CL, seems to take away some of the success from me but I'll take it anyway. I'm not going to stick around much longer, maybe finish the season as I want to win the cup and obviously play in the CWC.
berty1978
We had the advantage of being at home and it was never in doubt. A couple of cheeky buggers who think a CL win isn't enough for them, I know they'll probably want to move to Europe but they seemed happy enough when I said I'd win the Champions League. berty1978
Sanat Sari F.C. - Season 2037/38 - update An excellent couple of months with the highlight obviously being the Champions League victory. We're also through to the cup quarter finals and top of the league. The only dropped points in the league came at Mes Kerman where I haven't won yet so it's a good point but we had more than enough chances to win the game. Despite only dropping four points so far after sixteen games we are still only four points clear at the top so there's no room for complacency like what happened last season. berty1978
We were favourites for that match and we got through 1-0 but we were far the better side. Unbelievable, admittedly we were outclassed as the article says but not outplayed, we had a few chances but they scored from a cross. The goalscorer, Marty Birney (northern Irish) has since won the Ballon d'or and World player of the year to give some indication of how world class he is. After that disappointment we went and lost to Tigres in the third place play-off courtesy of them scoring with their first four shots, we just looked jaded. We now have top training and youth facilities.
berty1978
Sanat Sari F.C. - Season 2037/38 - update As mentioned December started with a disappointing Club World Cup as we finished 4th. We sneaked through the Quarter and Semi finals of the cup but it's the first time we're competing in the final so good opportunity to add another competition win. We still doing well in the league but a couple of poor draws towards the end of January has allowed the chasing teams to catch up a bit, we're still unbeaten but only five points clear with 11 to play, no room for complacency now. If that happened in FM there would be posts of conspiracy. Agree! I use to be at Lowestoft Town Fc a fair bit when my best mate was Youth Team manager after Andy Reynolds handed it over to him, but the whole club changed when Craig Fleming came in. Youth and bringing up its own suddenly wasnt priority anymore. I get on extremely well with Ady Gallagher & his missus though so still got nothing but love for the club (plus I live there lol). Your right about the cost of season tickets. Blooming expensive but could be worse...could be an arsenal fan and have to try afford one of theres. I cant afford it really but I just have to, cant not be there. Cut down on away games though. Keep up the top thread chap! Really enjoyed reading it. berty1978
Sanat Sari F.C. - Season 2037/38 - update We are still unbeaten in the league although the draw at Zob Ahan was a decent result we should have beaten Nassaji away. The four wins in the league during February and March were by three goals or more, and it's always nice to beat Mes Kerman even though they are struggling. As mentioned before we finally won the cup by beating Persepolis in the final. We entered the Champions League in the group stage this season and got drawn a very similar group as last season with a Saudi and a couple of Qatari clubs in there, we've had an unbeaten if unspectacular start. berty1978
Sanat Sari F.C. - Season 2037/38 - Season review Fixtures 1 | Fixtures 2 League table | Graph I've left Sanat Sari after winning the league remaining unbeaten, the first time I've achieved that in FM13. I have to be pleased with the way the season went overall too, if I took out the defeats in the CWC the whole season was unbeaten including the cup and Champions League. We could have done better in the CWC but we were never favourites against Manchester United and couldn't pick ourselves up for the third placed play-off. I also qualified for this years Champions League quarter-finals before leaving so it will be interesting to see how they continue. Squad stats Seasons best XI Key Players: Jerónimo Falcioni - Good season for the Argentinian 'keeper in his first season in Iran. Charles Chukwu - Continues to be our best performing defender and remains at the club for now despite plenty of rumours of him leaving. Ahmad Alwan - The Iraqi international midfielder is getting better and has had another very productive season. Alireza Hatami - Excellent but his season has been plagued by injury and has unfortunately declined considerably abter breaking his foot. Javad Nazari - Perhaps the sensation of the season even outperforming Hatami when he came in, 10 POM awards and 22 goals in 24 appearances, outstanding. Ahmed Al-Lihiani - 33 goals in the league and 47 in all competitions, says it all really. berty1978
C.F. Mérida - Season 2038/39 - update General information | Facilities This is going to be a difficult challenge, the finances are poor, almost £2m in the red and we are over the wage budget. Also in the General info screenshot it shows prediction of 5th, that was for last season but this season we are predicted to finish 14th (third bottom). I have let go some of the top earners but have had to give slight pay rises to the star players and bring more in to bulk the squad up a bit so we are still over the wage budget (which has dropped to £23k a week), good players won't sign for much less than £2k a week which is a bit much considering our budget. Looking at the squad depth I'll look to be playing a 4-5-1 or 4-2-3-1 type formation, a style I haven't used for a while as my previous few clubs I have played three at the back so I haven't used full backs for a while now. One obvious concern is that we're slightly lacking in the attacking department. Key players: José Alfredo Romo - Very good defender for this level, can play on the right or centre so will come in very handy. Hervey Osuna - I'll be looking at Osuna to create chances from the back, he can be a key player in the team. Luis Hernández - Strong defensive midfielder who should form a good partnership with Osuna. Mark Jiménez - Very quick American/Mexican right winger who I will look to be getting plenty of crosses in for the target man. As you can see all the key players are on well over £2k a week, they were already at the club and I will sell if the offer is right but will keep them otherwise.
