Individual team talks

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am wondering if anyone can shed light on a feature regarding individual team talks I have noticed that has only appeared since FM13 please?

At the start of a match, I use a general team talk and then supplement that with individual team talks. Once I start giving individual team talks I notice that I may say "No pressure" to a young player to reduce pressure and expectation. He is "Relaxed" after this individual team talk. I then speak to a more experienced player and I may say something like "Have faith" depending on the type of match I am playing and what my expectations are. This second player may show as being "Motivated". However, the young player, who was "Relaxed" a minute ago when I spoke to him has now lost his "Relaxed" feeling and shows as "No reaction".

Another example is bringing on 2 subs during a game. I may say "Have faith" to both of them (again depending on the circumstances) and the first guy is "Motivated" but when I talk to the second guy he becomes "Motivated" and the first guy loses his "Motivated" and it changes to "No reaction". It can even work the other way where there is "No reaction" from the first guy and then "No reaction" from the second guy, but after speaking to the second guy the first guy is suddenly "Motivated".

Does anyone know if this is a bug/refresh issue/deliberate feature?

I could see in certain circumstances that individual team talks could affect other players if I was saying something ludicrous but this seems a bit strange to me.

Sorry if this has been brought up before, I did search on the forum and could not find anything in the first couple of pages my search brought up.

Thanks.

I have seen SI try and defend it by saying that one person's reaction could change after hearing other people's talks, as whilst they may be motivated after being told something themsevles, that motivation would decrease if they heard the boss say the exact same thing to others. I buy this completely, in theory.

However, it is quite clear from playing around that the instances of reactions changing is not limited to such instances, and as such I consider it a bug.

I think there was something in the most recent patch fix=notes saying it had been addressed, but it doesn't seem fixed to me.

I'm far from an authority on it though, so happy to be proven wrong.

Thanks Herbert, appreciate the reply. It seems a bit too common place for me. There are surely plenty of circumstances of giving the same talk to different players where it would be appropriate. I have seen the same thing happen when giving different individual talks also - i.e. the first example I gave regarding talking to a young player and then a more experienced player.

There were some lingering issues earlier with some individual team talk options causing earlier individual team talk reactions to change, but these should be rectified in the latest update.

However it is still the case that in some cases the individual reactions might still change upon giving further individual talks to other players, as it is possible for players to become upset due to seeing someone else being mistreated or if the manager is favouring other players.

Thanks for the reply Riz, appreciated. I agree with what you say, that that is how it should be but I don't think in my case I am mistreating or favouring players. I usually give individual team talks to all or none and I dont tend to see outright negative reactions per say, only a loss of the positive reaction as I highlighted.

This was fixed for me as well in the recent update. It now works as it should.

However you still can get players reacting poorly when you talk to a group/individual in a certain way.

Eg. Tell team it was a poor performance, but tell defence you were impressed by them, suddenly the striker or midfielder with high rating might be angered, or disappointed.

This rarely happens for me as I don't single players out post match.

Do you have any alternative saves/games, or manager of a national team to test if its an issue with your particular save.

Maybe try a new save, holiday it for a bit and see if the issue is still there.

Thanks for your reply Ryknow, I have had this issue with every save on this version of the game (3 so far) so I don't believe it to be a save issue. It is good to hear that at least it isnot an issue for everyone as it is a tad annoying.

It's not so much players reacting poorly but just losing the positive reaction for no reaction. I can't remember the last time I used individual team talks post game, only before game, half time and subs. I find that it does not seem to be an issue when I used the group individual team talk bars (where you talk to all defence or all midfield or all attack). Unfortunately you can't do this when bringing on multiple subs so that work around I have just mentioned is not applicable when using subs.

Obviously before I used to manually do individual team talks rather than use the group bar I mentioned above as I may not have wanted to give all my defenders or all my midfielders or all my strikers the same message.

Not a major issue, just annoying when one has clearly picked the correct team talk instruction for a player to get a positive reaction (especially when I am losing) to have that taken away by making a seemingly innocent, encouraging comment to a fellow individual.

Maybe a feature to be added in future games could be subgroup team talks not just position team talks. IE younger, inexperienced group and and older and experienced group. For instance if I have 2 young players inexperienced then talk to them both and say relax, no pressure on either. Then on the other hand in a massive game that requires experienced players grab all experience players together and say that we expect a performance from them all.
