jefflackey
I'm playing in the lower leagues, and I have a young keeper who has been developing quite well. HOWEVER - it seems like about once every three matches he'll be holding the ball and give a careless pass to a defender that ends up going right to an opposing attacker, who simply picks it off and runs in and scores. What can I do, training wise, to fix this fatal error? I'm about to replace him if I can't fix this, as it cost us a match recently. Thanks! EDIT: When I talk to him and suggest he focus on passing, it says this is encouraging him to make long range free kicks when he has the chance - that doesn't sound like improved accuracy or decisions. ModernLefty
Without seeing him (a screenshot is always helpful), that sounds like he has issues in his distribution, coupled with flaws in Anticipation, Communication and Decisions. However, this goes beyond merely the goalkeeper. I assume you are playing a possession game and trying to distribute the ball from the back. If this is the case, then if he is deficient in those areas then inevitably he will have issues. However, this is also occuring I would guess in part to the play of the central defenders, if they are not confident on the ball then they will have it taken of them easily, and you know the rest. Try not to see things in isolation, everything in FM similar to real Life football occurs in tandem. On a basic level, having him distribute it long and play a safer percentage game, if he is so deficient in those areas should limit the issues. Otherwise, bite the bullet, Liverpool have conceeded goals this season from sloppy playing out from the back, it happens in trying to implement that style.
