No prize money or TV money... is this a bug?

Recommended Posts

In my first season in Serie A I finished 13th. However, when I look at financial report for last season I see a total of ~800k € of TV money and only 10k € of prize money.

Has anyone else have this happen to them? Is this a bug, or do you get that money later (I'm in mid July now)?

TV money is paid out at a monthly basis. There's no prize money in Seria A only the cup.

Are you sure?

I don't know about FM13, but in FM12 I'm sure you got some TV rights payout at the end of the season (collective contract, divided among clubs).

Also, in Serie B I got 2.8 million € for finishing 2nd, so it seem very odd not to get any prize money in Serie B.

Yes, I'm sure. I've played several seasons in Seria A - there's no prize money. Haven't played in Seria B so don't know about prize money there.

Are suddenly in doubt, though, whether TV money is paid out on a monthly or weekly basis...

I seem to recall that the Serie A TV deal is a rather complicated affair that has different criteria to determine who gets what from the pool of funds, I believe the minimum payment for each club is about €15m & then additional payments are based upon league placement in past seasons, number of supporters & the population within a defined catchment area.

It's even more complex than I imagined, can see how the distribution of TV money in Serie A could easily get screwed up in FM.

It does look like the TV deal income could be broken, I've just added a manager to a side being promoted from Serie B & they have only been given £8m as their share of the TV money. Time to test & log another bug.

There is definitely something wrong, just progressed to the 2013/14 season update point & the TV income for the 20 Serie A clubs comes in a £631.43m, based on the above link this should be the total domestic TV income as there are no payments made based on the league finish at the end of the season & if that is the case then assuming the figures are correct Serie A TV income drops by almost £128m after just 1 season.

2014/15 TV income table, total paid out is now £623.81m. I'm fairly confident that either the research data is incorrect (based on the tax debacle that is distinctly possible) or the calculation for dividing up the TV income has a coding error, of course it could be a combination of both.

Great work Barside!

I checked again when I got home, and it turnes out I misread the Income page... I only got 180k in TV Revenue (the 800k was season tickets, wich is one row above).

This is a game breaking bug for me as I am really struggling financialy... I'm surprised noone noticed it before :/

  • 1 month later...

Both myself & the OP of this thread raised the issue in the bugs & data issues forum, hopefully the problem will get sorted for FM14. Maybe a new head researcher or some assistants as the current HR does appear to be struggling with collating all the data required.
