wazza
After getting Hull promoted and winning the FA Cup - my fourth season was very poor and I did not achieve what as expected of me. It was the last year of my contract and despite this the board offered me a new one. As I am playing a career game the intention is to leave my favourite club on a high so I negotiated a one year extension hoping that I could do something the following season before I left for another club. In my first two seasons in the premier league I grossly overachieved qualifying for Euro Cup - first season and Champions cup 2nd season and I was scoring for fun. In the fourth season I struggled to finish 8th, when I told the board I would finish in the top 4, got knocked out in the preliminary rounds of Champions Cup, Semi final Euro Cup, Semi Final FA Cup. The problem was the I could not score or hit a barn door - the draws kept coming, even though we had improved defensively. I even brought cheap experienced strikers to the club in the January transfer window in Yakubu and Defoe but to no avail - this did not solve the problem. First premiership season GF was 60 GA 56, 2nd season GF 75 GA 45 last season GF 46 GA 39 I need to improve my strikeforce therefore I have transfer listed my failing strikers who are worth next to nothing. I also hoped that I would get a transfer kitty like the season before of 35 mill to spend. However, The board has just set the initial budgets of 10million and a little bit extra on the wage bill. I don't believe that this is enough for me to fetch in the 2 quality strikers I need for an assault for the following season. I have also now just signed the new 1 year contract extension. Resigning may also affect my club reputation as I am currently listed as a favoured personnel. My initial aim was to leave on a high once the contract expired Would you resign now knowing that the board is not backing you or try and give it another season with what you've got. jayahr
Keep going. If you resign then you have failed to reach your aim. On top, your reputation might take a hit so it may not be the best career move either. The cut in funds should be connected to no revenues coming in from Europe, even less from CL participation. A new contract ofefr is a good enough backing from the board to me. Stay where you are for now. You can still jump ship if the opportunity arises over the course of the season. Lawlore
"Back me or sack me." You've been there long enough to deserve some loyalty from them- I'd find it hard leaving a job at a club I'd had such success at, unless a much better offer came along. (apologies for the half-post originally- my keyboard has decided to start tripping)
scooterSB
I say stay. I also think strikers are sometimes the easiest players to bring in. If you get rid of your failing strikers you can usually bring in experienced strikers on frees or low fees. With a solid midfield and players who know how to deliver a killer ball you can normally get at player in their early 30s who can still bang them in as a poacher/targetman. Sure you only get a year or two out of them, but that is usually enough to get you back to a good league standing.
Herbert Fandel
I'm saying resign, purely because it is job hopping that makes FM interesting for me. If you stay too long at one club it is far too easy. You may well regret it later, but that is the only way I get my FM kicks these days.
