International Management

Recommended Posts

Hi folks

I'm new to the international management on Fm13 and notice there's no option for training.

Is there a way to train the players? I ask this because my assistant says I should focus on certain aspects but there's no way I can train them i.e. attacking set pieces etc.

I am pretty sure that you cant train players when managing internationally, with the exception of match training i think. I could be wrong though as i haven't managed an international team on FM13 yet

Replying blindly, but I'm led to believe that international management, while always improved compared to a few years ago at any given time, is in need of being integrated fully, rather than having the features that suggests it's an anomaly rather than an equal part.

While they claimed to have beefed up international management in FM 13, there's still not much to it. I manage national teams exclusively bc I don't have the desire to get involved with day to day training, etc, and it's been fun. Still, I wish there was something other than match preparation on the tactics page to do before the match. I hire good coaches and I assume they do a good job at teaching tactics and such, but mainly for good scouting of my players and my opponents. I've found that hiring really good physios and fitness coaches have helped with fewer injuries, better condition during games and bouncing back quickly after games.

The tournaments are fun but still need some work. For instance, you can named a 30-man squad before a World Cup, but you must name your final 23 before you're allowed to play any warmup friendlies. Also, you're supposed to be able to replace an injured player with an alternate from the 30-man squad, as long as you haven't played an official tournament game yet, but I was unable to replace a player who randomly got injured in training ad was out for 5 weeks.

Furthermore, yellow cards clear after the quarter finals of the World Cup in real life, but yellows keep accumulating without resetting. Be careful or you might have a player suspended for the final.

Overall, I'd say managing international teams has been fun for me, with a few minor gripes. I take it pretty slow, though, so if you go through a save quickly you might find it a little dull.
