KevMaaan
Just got the hammers job in 2015 and the squad is massive. Unf0ortunately, i have deemed roughly 80% of these players not good enough for the team. Im thinking of taking this as an oppertunity to see hpow a DoF opperates. Can anyone give me a nice in depth description of what he does? I understand the basic principle, i just want to know more in depth.
mindthegap
I always have a DoF. I set him to help me loan youth players out and buy youth players for me. He does generally help loan players out for you but a lot the time i find myself having to cancel transfers he's about to bring in because they will never be good enough for the team. That isn't because he can't spot talent, i always have my DoF with high PA/CA attributes. I am starting to have 2nd thoughts about using one to be honest. Not very in depth but thats how i do it. swisso
I'm actually going to start a topic soon in the 'FM Stories' section where i plan to start my 2nd season at Everton with a DoF handling everything he possibly can Transfers, contract renewals, hiring staff and bringing in the youth players. And share my experiences about how we get along
cyborgscouse
My experience with a DoF is very hit and miss. He's meant to sell players you've transfer listed although in my experience its often for less than their value and he's also meant to bring players in, again when I used him he would often try and blow my entire budget on one player and this was when I'd have a budget of £30m+ Think of him like a scout who can buy you players and sell the ones you don't want anymore. Granted you're better off doing it by yourself
30.Beast
Mine bought in some quality young players so....so far so good. Cyborg - you can actually tell him to accept only minimum amounts on players. You can tell him to sell for the players value or for any price via the unwanted list.
thomit
I use a edited database where I have put Arsene Wenger as a DoF at Arsenal, before I take the Arsenal job. I let him handle signings of all other staff, and to offer pro contracts for youngsters, if he finds them worthy. However, I take charge of all signings and contract negotiations for new players, as well as loans in/out myself.
