DodgeeD
The Mighty Minnows: Liechtenstien v. San Marino Two tiny fish swimming in international waters CSE Times: Minnow Nations on the (sign) up?For many years, Liechtenstein and San Marino have been the whipping boys of European football, regularly seen as just 'making up the numbers', an easy six points and the laughing stock of international football. However, it seems something is stirring in the waters and that something may just be the minnows ready to rise. Long affronted by the reast of the world's lowly opinions of their national sides, both the Liechtenstiener and San Marinese FAs have been trying to change and challenge their status. Since the mid-1990s, shadowy rumours have circulated of genetic experiements in secret labs in Vaduz, Schaan and Balzers while there have also been tales of top footballers and sportsmen from Amsterdam to Buenos Aires and Glasgow to Perth being kidnapped, drugged and forced to breed with mysterious ladies with San Marinese accents. Both FAs have always denied such accussations but now, 17 years on, a number of young Liechtenstiener footballing machines and youthful San Marinese players with bags of natural talent have started appeairng at trial days for clubs across the globe. Unable to believe their luck, these clubs have snapped up these young starlets in the hope of grooming them into global stars, and/or selling them for a profit (that is with the exception of Nottingham Forest, who were close to signing one star but then got suspicious and pulled out at the last minute). Many have been comparing this sudden influx of young talent into the game to that of the Northern and Southern Treasure Islands many years ago who went on to dominate North American and World football for years. Can these two naitons have the same impact? Will they be able to rise to the tough challenge of qualifying for tournaments from the UEFA pool? And will these players be able to make themselves stars on the world stage? CSE Times will be following every step of the way, bringing you news on these players and nations and hopefully plenty of exclusives from the players themselves. Naturally, both countries unleashing their protegees onto the unsuspecting football world at the same time has caused considerable friction between Liechtenstien and San Marino and it seems quite a rivalry is building up between the two FAs and between the players as well. A firendly has been arranged for August 15th 2012 to decide intial bragging rights with hopefully plenty of clashes to follow in the years to come. DodgeeD
Before we go any further, a word from the creator, DodgeeD: Time for the sign-up to begin! I just want to set a few things straight before we start: The focus of this thread will be the international careers of your players and the rise of the two naitons so you can expect updates after every internaitonal break and extended updates of the major tournaments they qualify for and the head-to-head clashes, of which I hope there will be plenty. I will update how your player is doing at club level pre-season, after the January transfer window and at the end of the season, when profile screenshots will be posted. I will also post mini updates with any important/interesting/funny news as and when it comes up. If I can't update for any reason (holiday, work and family comittments, computer trouble etc), I will let you know why and when I'll be back. I ask the same of you - if you will be unable to post for any reason, let me know. Please have fun with the updates - banter is encouraged (tongue-in-cheek of course ). Any kind of role-playing (newspaper stories, quotes, tweets etc) will be great. Oh, and before I forget, the game has been set up as follows: Database: 13.3 update with players added and rivalry created between the two nations. No other changes have been made to the database Active leagues: France, England, Germany, Holland, Italy, Scotland, Spain and Portugal (all available divisions), Turkey (top two divisions only as the third tier doesn't allow foreigners); USA (MLS only); China (top two divisions) and Australia (A-League only). NOTE - I may later remove lower leagues if the game starts to runs slowly or all players move on to higher levels. Conversely, if players move to other countries such as Russia or Belgium, I may add those leagues. Start date: July 2012 (England starting date) When setting up the game, I disabled attribute masking so we can see all your players' attributes easily and I also desleceted first transfer window budgets so each player stays at their chosen club for at least a few months. I have added an unemployed manager to track all of your players - detials and screenshots of them to come later tonight.

Full-backs have also been made accomplished at wing back slots and wide midfielders are also accomplished in the more advanced winger positions just in case of any manager who brings different tactics to the national sides. All players have been given a three year contract until 30.06.2015 with their starting club. However, some will start on youth deals and many may move well before then. All leagues invovling these teams are active at the start of the game but may be removed once players have moved on.

DodgeeD
July 2012 Update This is the first of the mini updates I plan to do each month to give you some insight into how the game is panning out and what your players are up to. Each month, I will feature a different 'top five' based on player stats and statuses. Screenshots will only be added to the mid-season updates (stats overview) and end of season updates (profile shots). Top 5 Players by First Team Appearances Although the sign up is only in its first month, some players who landed themselves contracts with clubs whose leagues follow the calender year rather than the August-May season, have been in regular action already, especially in the MLS. Those players in Scotland have also been in action in due to the league starting in late July: No. | Player | Nation | Club | Apps ----|--------------------|--------|--------------------|------ 1. | Acidio Burnelli | SMR | Philadelphia Union | 20 2. | Wolfgang Kieber | LIE | New York Red Bulls | 6(10) 3. | Dwayne Johnson | LIE | New York Red Bulls | 0(8) 4=. | Nathan Leone | LIE | Dunfermline Ath. | 1 4=. | Max Harvey | SMR | Partick Thistle | 1 4=. | Jimmio Bowmanaggio | SMR | St. Johnstone | 1 Player News Acidio Burnelli has been a sensation in MLS so far, leading the tackles per game standings with his tough style of play and recently becoming Philadelphia Union's youngest ever goalscorer at 16 years and 336 days. Dwayne Johnson has struggled with his new team, however, and some secitons of the media are saying he should not be picked for the forthcoming San Marino-Liechtenstien game. With most other players going through pre-season training, there is little to report except that Amity Lane has plenty of suitors trying to get him on loan from Ajax. Up Next With the squad's for the first clash between these two minnows set to be named early in August, next time we will look at which of our players are set to make their international debuts. DodgeeD
CSE Times 08/08/2012: Squad Announcements The announcement of the San Marino and Liechtenstein squads has never caused much of a stir in the past but with all the recent interest in these two nations' fledgling superstars appearing at various clubs around the world, the world's media was in wait waiting to see how/if Giampaolo Mazza (San Marino) and Hans-Peter Zaugg (Liectenstein) would bring these players into the fold. The squads were announced as follows: Mazza was immediately taken to task over his decision not to select either Danilio Bandini or Giuseppe Albertini, instead relying on the 27 year-old Valentini with no back-up. He was also denied the chance to pick Jaunito James and Gregorio Di Matteo as they were injured (strained knee ligaments and a thigh strain respectively with rumours of slippy banana skins tossed in front of them by Liechtensteiner FA employees unsubstantiated). Zaugg was also denied the chance to select a couple of players due to injury, those being Antonio Skacel (sports hernia) and Erik Dorfjunge (twisted ankle). Rumours spread quickly that Dorfjunge had stumbled and fell while leaving a pub on the route from Saarbrücken to Vaduz but could not be confirmed. Match report to follow later today. STOP PRESS!! More injury news coming in moments after the squads were announced. Rocky Brittus is out of the Liechtenstien squad after sustaining a hip injury while training with Fiorentina U20s and Vinzenz Kuerten has suffered a fractured skull while playing a pre-season friendly for RC Strasbourg. More news on these injuri,es as we get it.
Shadaza
I sure hope San Marino don't want to use a defencive Right Winger as SC Anziani clearly does not believe in defence. With a heading stat of 2, jumping stat of 1 and strength stat at 1, it seems Anziani tried a header once and is now suffering from PTSD every time his feet leave the ground! However with the ball at his feet Anziani looks set to be an assassin with hopefully assist and goals galore.

Rumours spread quickly that Dorfjunge had stumbled and fell while leaving a pub on the route from Saarbrücken to Vaduz but could not be confirmed. Responding to rumors that he had denied himself a spot on the Liechtenstein national team as a result of stumbling out of a pub and spraining his ankle, Erik Dorfjunge insisted to anyone who would listen that he slipped on a stray urinal cake while relieving himself (No, he wasn't standing in the urinal at the time!) He then caught a cab back to Saarbrucken to rehabilitate and catch up on his DVR'ed episodes of "CSI:Liechtenstein".

Agreed, it will be great to mix it up so that we don't hear about the same 5 players all the time, because it would be a bit like the old top 4 (Man Utd, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal) if you didn't mix it, same old story all the time.
