Youngsters demanding first team role in negotiations

Recommended Posts

Playing as Monaco in my third season and I have a couple of youngsters, a RB and a DM, who may turn out to be squad players a couple of years down the line. Both of the right backs in my first team are pretty decent, Andrea Raggi who is my first choice and Vanden Borre who is my backup/utility player. Now Raggi is 30 years old and my youth right back (Dennis ) is 20. My plan is to tutor Appiah with Raggi over the next two years (this season and the next) and either sell Raggi at the end of next season (he will be 32) or let his contract expire. The same is the case for my DM...my back up CM is Jakob Poulsen who is 31 and will be leaving the club at the end of this season. My youth player, Almamy Toure, is 18 years old and has pretty good stats for the position though ideally I would like to send him on loan this season before using him as a squad player next season. My problem is both the youth players' contract expire this season...but when I tried to extend the contracts, the agents demand their players' squad status to be First Team and are not willing to consider even Rotation status even if I accept their wage and bonuses demands...is there any way I can make them accept lower squad role?

What I always do if there is a minor thing I want to be included in the contract and the player's agent doesn't want to cooperate is the following:

- I lock the thing I want unchanged (shocker). In your case this would be your players status

- Add 'useless' clauses such as a release fee of 50 mln (or lower; keep in mind that you should put it higher than you wish to eventually sell him for)

You could also offer a minor raise after playing an amount of games. As far as I'm concerned, the more clauses in the contract, the higher the chances of the player's agent to agree.

Besides that you could increase the amount of money you offer the agent (sorry I'm Dutch so I don't know the term used in the English version) but only do this if the agent is sensitive to this because it would be a waste of money if they don't really care about this fee.

Good luck!

This is a problem but I would, as Ramoniazzz said, the clauses 'trick' so to speak is the best way at solving this issue. I like to offer high loyalty bonuses as well for youngsters, especially if you know they are going to make it to the first team.
