Pitalo
29 September 2012 My first offer! I was really tempted to go manage "The Black and Whites", but in the negotiation the chairman demanded a defensive tactic. "I'm Dutch" I replied: "We don't do defence". No agreement was reached, a pity though, Torpedo Moscow offered really good money for a starting manager.
Pitalo
11 October 2012 Another offer from Russia. Media predicted Spartak at 1st place, they're currently 4th. The money was good, the team seemed ok, but somehow, I couldn't get the feeling. As if I didn't want to be there. I delayed the offer.
Pitalo
13 October 2012 Now this is a club I like to manage! A club with such a great status and with me even remembering them playing Bundesliga, I have no choice but to feel honoured and accept the job. Maybe I can turn the tables for Karslruher SC and bring them back to glory
Pitalo
Karlsruhe SC Looking through the history and wikipedia of Karlsruhe SC you can only conclude this club is actually pretty huge. Having played in the Bundesliga and in Europe in the past, the had also their fair share of up and downs. The relegated to the 2.Bundesliga and 3.Bundesliga quiete often. But even I can remember this club playing 1.Bundesliga and I am not that old. Hopefully I can bring back or restore some of their former glory. It won't be back to back promotions as their is a long way to go. The team looks adequate, but needs some fine tuning. The board asked me to keep a philosophy in buying young players who're considered "Hot Prospects" as currently the club is lacking them. Karlruhe is located on the west side of Germany near Stuttgart, making VFB Stuttgart there rivals ofcourse. Karlsruhe is also near the Black Forest area of Germany, a region visited by tourist and hikers in the spring/summer and in the winter ski'ers and snowboarders. A great stadium, you can tell this is a big club. Here is some club bio: General Information | Facilities | Finances | History | Team Report | 1st Best Player | 2nd Best Player
Pitalo
Karlsruhe SC 13 October 2012 Signed a 2-year deal, which I will review at the end of the season and see if there is enough foundation to build on a second season. Karslruhe SC has been misarable this season so far. Hopefully I can turn things around. I have to! Only 3 more games in this month, but not the weakest of opponents. Current league leaders, Babelsberg are one of them. They/We are sitting too close to relegation spots. Ok, there are more then plenty of games to come, but having been like this early in the season makes it hard to turn things around. We'll see. October will be updated soon

Pitalo
Karlsruhe SC 1 November 2012 A loss, a win and a draw. We had all 3 now and I am keen to look forward and win some. For the viewers with a keen eye and a sharp mind, you've noticed I just played top 7 opponents and 2 away games. I'm trying out a 4-4-2 Diamond attacking system, but having 7 major players injured isn't helpfull. The system seems adequate for the team overall. We didn't get smashed by Osnabruck, but we didn't create anything aswell, which is something I have to work on. The Bielefeld result was pleasing as we got some air to breathe. The draw against Babelsberg, league-leaders, was good especially considering it was away. All can change very swiftly and luckily more football is to come. 2-points away from relegation, but a win could mean we jump up to 12th. Still early stages in the season and we'll be playing 38 games. I doubt we'll get in promotion places, too many players injured, long term and their back-ups aren't of the same quality. What's to come in November Only Halle is considered a win game, the other 3 results aren't as easy as I like them to be. It seems when things seem down you'll recieve the punches. Certainly happening at Karlsruhe SC.
Pitalo
Karlsruhe SC 1 December 2012 So the results aren't bad and they aren't good. We can't make a whole lot of difference on the pitch and most of the time we're being swamped in the midfield. Close victories make us jump up the table a little though. The Halle result was abmyssal, I really don't know why we lost, reviewing the game gave me the conclusion that 4-4-2 diamond isn't a good formation and switched to a 4-3-3 formation. We just gave away space in the diamond formation and luckily for us the opponents didn't had the clinical finishing, otherwise we would've lost more games. From 16th to 13th isn't too bad, considering there is a ghost around the Wildparkstadion injuring my players. They drop down by the bushes and although I'm flexibel, it's hard to adjust your starting XI if 6 starters are injured. Hopefully December will bring us some nice weather, santa gifts and goals. What's to come in December Finally 2 teams lower in the table then us. Only the Stuttgart game is considered a win game.
Pitalo
Karlsruhe SC 1 January 2013 2 fixtures played and I survived my first 3 months in Germany at Karlsruhe. We won the Unterhaching game, which was a suprise. We did play well and I didn't believe the team was at a stage to perform like this. Now only if I can get my players motivated with a team talk then all would be perfect. The Stuttgart game was also a close victory game. Thanks to my low reputation and perhaps my age, players aren't keen in listening to my advice or motivation speeches. Although I have some skills in motivating people, it's on deafman ears when it comes to these players. It's going to be a busy January month when the transfer window opens. After 2 wins I expect us to climb slightly up the table, but we didn't however. We did make a good break from 13th place with 5-points. Now only 8-points seperate us with promotion places and with 16 games to play nothing seems impossible. But with the current squad and their (in)ability to listen, I will be pleased if we wind up mid-table. What's to come in January Lot of friendlies. I gave that responsibility to my assistant manager and he went a little gung-ho with it. I can certainly try-out some tweaks in tactics and starting XI. Also the Transfer Market opens. I'll dip my feet in the water as they would say. We currently lack a good goalkeeper, left back and wingers. Some quality injection would do us some good. Offloading the rest would mean financial room to grow.

Pitalo
Good start at Karlsruhe - always nice to see someone in the German lower leagues, it's a fun place to be Cheers B101, I think we had a rocky start and I certainly needed time to adjust to German football. It's different to other country's. But I think I got the hang of it now and maybe we'll cause an upset, who knows......realisticly mid-table would be fine
Dexter_Morgan
You're picking up a little bit of form now, it's a shame you are so far away from 3rd but I imagine you'll be able to attract a few players to improve things even more and build for next season. Pitalo
Decent start. Thanks, I agree it has been a decent start. You're picking up a little bit of form now, it's a shame you are so far away from 3rd but I imagine you'll be able to attract a few players to improve things even more and build for next season. Thanks, hopefully the momentum will last. This season is all about being consistant and end somewhere in the midtable, next season will be more important. I can offload all the deadwood with their contracts running out and build a better squad.
Pitalo
Karlsruhe SC 27 January 2013 After 10 games and a decent start, the pundits still can't see if I will bring KSC forward or backward. 1 February 2013 Really mixed results. We play well against bigger reputation teams, win against Frankfurt who're playing 2.Bundesliga. Losses against lower reputation teams and then a major result against River. I really don't know why this team is so up and down. The league game against Wehen is an excellent proof of that. I couldn't motivate the lads and trying to make sure this is a derby didn't mean anything to them. It ment a first loss in 5 games and therefor I am taking the positives out of this all. The loss didn't mean too much in the competition, still 12th. Somewhere we belong at the moment. There are some serious changes to be made, but I have to wait untill the summer transfer market and let some players go out of contract. Tranfer Window: Ridvan Balci - A back up for the first team, with a good chance to become starter. Patrick Rakovsky - A really good goalkeeper who's has a 5-star potential, back up for the starting keeper. Jerome Kiesewetter - Also a back up for the first team winger, decent player. So the transfer window gave me the loans I needed and hopefully the remaining games we'll show some good football and results. What's to come February No easy games here, only Dortmund II would be an easy game. But we can't win from home. One thing I learned from friendlies, we play better against high profile opponents. Let's hope for some good results

Pitalo
Liking the start and made some progress up the league. Wish you better luck with the injuries! Cheers! The injuries are bad. My players are really prone to them. Doesn't matter if it's on the training or in a game. They'll get injured. Luckily after the January window I have some back-up now. Pitalo
Karlsruhe SC 1 March 2013 Now, some tweaks here and there really made the turn about happen. We finally score more then 1 goal and, way more important, players starting to listen! It so hard to motivate players if they feel your not worth their attention. The Dortmund II result was a so-so result. We aren't good away and especially if it comes to lower reputation teams. Look at this table. We're getting close now. Only 8-points between us and 3rd, which gives the right to play promotion/relegation with 3rd last of the 2.Bundesliga. What's to come March More away games then home games and we play against teams who are lower ranked then us. Could be a difficult challenge, but with the a little momentum going on now, we might have a productive month.
london boy
There are a lot of decent youngsters in Germany (Stuttgart & Hoffenheim are 2 good examples in the geographical area near Karlsruhe) & Karlsruhe are quite a big team, so there is great potential there. Pitalo
Karlsruhe SC 8 March 2013 As you can see, Karslruhe SC has a very good youth-system going for them. I gave 8 players a youth-contract. I never ever had so many prospect on youth intake day. On a side-note, some players are only 14, is that common for Germany? 10 March 2013 It took some getting used to the league, opponents and teammates, but we finally got a run going and it turned out to be a new record. I hope I can beat this record soon, maybe next season. 1 April 2013 3 wins and 2 losses. The losses were calculated and the Saarbrucken game we deserve to loose. We didn't create anything and we're sloppy at deadpieces, which made it 2-0. On the bright side, we did manage to beat Munster away with live television coverage and the Burghausen game wasn't a bad result so all-in-all I am statisfied. The team lacks true quality, form and motivation to win easy games. Up the table we go. Only 10-point divide us with promotion places, with only 6 games to go. To be honest with you, we're standing at a place we actually deserve. It will be a tough cookie to crack if I want to challenge for promotion. I am going to make the best out of things, with only 6 more games to go. What's to come April These are though fixtures. Bielefeld are close competition on 7th, Babelsberg on 2nd and Offenbach on 5th. I hope we can manage some wins here and maybe climb up the latter a little bit. Pitalo
Karlsruhe SC 1 May 2013 As predicted, we had a though month coming. We did fairly good, winning 2 out of 4, against higher ranked opponents. I was particularly statisfied with a home win against Babelsberg, no.2 at that time and beat them with 3 goals. The Bielenfeld and Offenbach losses were calculated in. We did deserve more at the Offenbach this game, but I suspect the referee favouring Offenbach. He gave them an easy penalty and disallowed 2 goals on our behalf. It was a bad day at the office I suppose. Not all is lost with 2 more games to come. I can easily say we won't get promotion this year. We're not consistent enough, but on the other hand, we did get up from 17th. I hope to shoot up some places. Aiming for a top 7 spot. That would make some things right for our fans. What's to come May 2 more games, one against Halle who are 18th. If we beat or draw them, they'll get relegated. So no easy game there. The Darmstadt game isn't about anything really, but I hope to win, which will get us some spots up the table.

Pitalo
Karlsruhe SC 19 May 2013 A good result against Halle, which made them relegate as no.18 in the competition. An okay result against Darmstadt. I felt we could've gotten more out of this game, but being the last game of the season and this isn't considered as a major game, I can see why we drew. Looking on the bright side, we finally didn't lose away. We met my, sort of, mini achievement. We did finish top 7, with 7-points dividing us from promotion place no.3. We did come from a long way. At the start when I took over KSC stood 17th and to finish 7th isn't bad. Hopefully next season we can challenge for more if we start on the right foot. 20 May 2013 A good review from the board. I am happy with this review, it makes me want to continue next season. Hopefully the board can back me up with a good wage budget, because money has become tight lately. 28 May 2013 Finishing 7th in the league, but still having 1 player forwarded in the Team of the Year Awards. Jan Mauersberger is without a doubt my best defender and deserved to be on the Team of the Year.
Pitalo
Karlsruhe SC 20 June 2013 Steffen Haas is selected as best player of the season. He didn't start as a starting XI for me in October, but he did make it when I changed to a 4-3-3 system and he has proven to be an excellent player. He deserved to be selected as Fans Player of the Year. The Best Eleven HALL OF FAME: There were no changes in the Hall of Fame, so things remain the same. Pre-Season 2013/2014 The board wants me to challenge for promotion! I hope I can bring them the joy of it, but not quite sure, let's await the summer transfer window. I am offloading over 10 players who aren't worth playing for a promotion chasing KSC. Atleast we're getting help from a major club in Germany. HSV has become our feeder club and I'll be scouring through their ranks to find a potential player. There must be atleast 1. And here are the friendlies at the start of the new season. Pitalo
That was a good season imo, obviously the pressure is on for this year but as I said earlier you shouldn't have much problem attracting decent players to the club. Season went ok, I struggled the most with motivating the players. This struggle lead to losing or drawing matches. I think if I could've motivated the players properly then those matches could've been won. Let's hope some decent players find their way home to the Westparkstadium. The board's goal was to sign young players.
Pitalo
Karlsruhe SC 30 June 2013 There it is, a new contract offer for me after "Der KSC" finished 7th in the league. I rejected the offer, I really want to see how this new season pans out. I don't want to burden the club who gave me a chance to start my managing career with a huge debt if they want to fire me. Maybe I want to do something else after this season and therefor want to have my options open. 5 July 2013 This is what the pundits think will happen in the league. If this became reality I would be one happy manager. 13 July 2013: Pre-Season We played 5 friendlies at the start of the season, with 1860 Munchen and RC Lens standing out. I think we did pretty well, made some tweaks in what's starting to be a good formation. I did see lot of youngsters and back-up players play and I've made up my mind who's going to play as regular in the season.
Pitalo
Karlsruhe SC 1 August 2013 Season started early this year and our first match was against Burghausen, we did start this campaign wonderfully, winning with 3-1. We lead the game with 3-0 but couldn't quiete keep concentration to the end. It didn't matter much to me, as I was happy that our first game was a win. 1 game played, 3 points in the bag and here we are on 4th. Nothing I can really tell, but it's a good start and hopefully we can maintain a good run or start a good run. What's to come August Some really interesting games out this month. Promotion favorite Union Berlin, Frankfurt (Frankfurt is a 1.Bundesliga club) for the DFB Pokal and another promotion favoured Ingolstadt.
Pitalo
Karlsruhe SC 1 September 2013 My main man has been absolutely quality this month, thanks to him we've been practically unbeatable in the back and look strong. As you can see we only conceded once this month! Jan rightly deserved the Player of the Month. The fixture that stands out is the DFB Pokal against Frankfurt. It was a massive game we fortunatelly won in extra time. I never thought that we could've been so good against higher reputation teams. Frankfurt was 4th in the 1.Bundesliga and in my eyes concered as favorites for the game. I found out that both teams didn't dominate the game and we've both got our fair chances. We only proven more clinical than Frankfurt. We've been leading the game twice before the extra time. We scored 2 more times and fortunetelly Frankfurt couldn't come back after that. We did also ok against promotion favoured Union Berlin and Ingolstadt. With a little more luck or better finishing we could've won both games, both on the other hand, we've also could've lost them as the opponents have proven to be very good at the counter attack. Up top and unbeaten so far. After 7 games things look good and promising at Karlsruhe SC. Let's hope this will continue for a while. 3 September Transfer Market In: Domonik Nothnagel - A hot prospect for the future. He was offered to me by his agent and I couldn't resist not signing him. Reserve Kerem Demirbay - Kerem is the first Loanee from parent club HSV. A creative midfielder, which we missed last season. Starter Koen Casteels - Koen is an excellent goalkeeper, but I brought him in to be my second goalkeeper. He's on par with my starting goalkeeper. Reserve Out: The only transfer out which stands out is the selling of Koen van der Biezen. He's been real quality like last season. Koen had a contract that would've run out this season and he didn't make any crazy demands. But he's not the ideal striker in my formation and with 1-year remaining on his contract I made the decision a lot easier for us both. Now he can play in the 2.Bundesliga show his qualities there. What's to come September I really don't know how to judge my team at the moment, we really having momentum right now and hopefully we can keep this form running in September. Althought competition is tight, I hope we can create a gap and still be 1st on 1 of October
Pitalo
Karlsruhe SC 22 September 2013 Wow! We've set a defensive record, with 6 games not conceding. I find this an impressive run from us, since my formation isn't based on defensive. But still, this is Germany and Germans know how to defend 1 October We're really on an impressive run I have to say. I didn't think we could be able to achieve anything like this. The 3.Bundesliga has proven to me that competition is tight, the margin were you can win or lose in is really thin. Now that I have said that, I want to point out we haven't loss one single game so far. We've drawn a couple, but we didn't lose. Although we're getting lucky in the last 2 results against Chemnitz and Darmstadt, I am can honestly say I am pleased with the results. The Darmstadt result was a good one, as they were sitting 2nd at that time. Winning that game made a gap between us and no.2 12 games in. 8 games won and 4 games drawn. We're ahead with 6 points. Union Berlin is showing they're promotion candidates and Ingolstadt had a turn for the worse, having been touted favourites for the title. At this point, it's still early season, I am pleased. Players seem to listen, motivated and not having lost 1 game makes me wonder how long our momentum will last. What's to come October At this point this games are not the most difficult. I know we're now the team to beat at the moment, but I can see our fine form continue.

Pitalo
Karlsruhe SC 24 October 2013 An amazing record, not something I believed we could achieve at this stage of the competition and with all the new players. 1 November 2013 For the people with keen eyes, you can see we have a 19-games unbeaten record going on. Another good month, almost perfect. It's getting tougher to get good results in, I can see that opponents are really defending all-out and trying to catch us on the break. Kiel really gave us a scare by not winning, although they had the better chances. Winning from Munster away was a good result and made the morale boost that little bit more. The morale boost gave us strength to see us win from Osnabruck and Lotte. Osnabruck was a lovely match to see, both teams try to play an attacking style and fortunatelly for us, we scored when the opportunity arised. Lotte was a difficult game, Lotte went all-out defence, but we beat them, with now and then some good football. Hopefully players won't get too complacent, we still have a lot of football to play. Drawing 1 match in the month October and winning the others made the gap between us and no.2 Union Berlin even bigger. 8-points between the both of us. I think that's a good buffer for the remaining year and I hope we can maintain this gap till late December. What's to come November A busy month with 1 game standing out more then others. The FC Bayern Munich for the DFB Pokal. We play at home and I hope gate receipt will skyrocket with this game. Funny note: Pep Guardiola is manager of FC Bayern Munich.
