managerdude_66
Hi all, All the points mentioned below are based on my experiences on FM 12 and NOT FM 13. So apologies if any of them have been accounted for. Also some of these wishes may have been inspired by similar ideas of others. Ok, This is going to be a long post so please bear with me: My ideas for future FMs. 1. Have 2 separate formations for defence and offence. Dont change any of the existing sliders. Instead add one or more sliders or indicators which tell you how much stamina it would require for your individual players to execute this (ie running back from their attack and defence positions). So this would prevent teams from lining up all 11 at the back for defence and all 11 forward for offence. Also, this would stress on Stamina, Work Rate, Teamwork and maybe Determination? However if not executed properly, it would make all players behave as though they are box to box players. You could maybe implement those draggable arrows of old FMs as well. 2. AI Transfers: To make AI squad building more competitive in the long run, you could base their selection criteria more on attribute distribution and to a certain extent on CA. Maybe you could have a current and potential ability percentage like Genie scout. Like player X's performance in Position Y in a role Z would currently be 64.15% but would peak at 85.6%. So this would make him a good signing. This should take care of positional attributes, hidden attributes and CA. This might not include PPMs and other problems like Adaptability, injury proneness and language barrier. 3. Speaking of positions, I'd like to be more flexible. A player playing as a Left Midfielder should have some ability to play as AML or say a WBL. It should be based on the player's natural position. Taking the above example, the person should have a 50% rating for AML, 40% rating for WBL and a 20% rating for LB and so on and so forth. 4. Overhaul of scouting for newgens: Right now we know the dates when newgens are created. So we can send scouts and poach the world's best talent without spending a penny. However instead, if one or two newgens are promoted every two months into the U 18s it would make scouting them harder. So basically every top level team should have access to a pool of players whom they would have the option to sign onto their academy and junior sides at age 14-15. This pool should be region specific. Like one for Manchester area, one for West Midlands and so on. This pool should be non-scoutable by teams other than the ones to whom the pool is a feeder. The obvious problem would in be the first season as SI are not allowed to have U 16 players in their databases. 5. More varieties in player development: Currently all players reach their potential between 24-27. This should not be the case. Some players are late bloomers while others burn out before reaching their potential. There also be cases where players play on at the highest level upto their late thirties. 6 Enhancement of editor: Currently the editor doesn't allow us to have Opening and Closing stages, Third-place playoffs, and the feature to enter runner-ups and third place winners of cup competitions into custom competitions. Moreover, for first time users, it can be daunting to create competitions and leagues. To solve this problem, I suggest 2 things. a) Make the Advanced Editor accessible. b) Provide visual tables (like the hierarchy tables on MS Word). You could also include the list of teams which would enter the competition in the first season based on last season's standings. 7. More statistics and more tools: Like the options to view the heat map where the passes to a player from different team-mates were received, the kinds of passes received (direct, through, lob, cross-field, etc), more details about form, etc. 8.Match atmosphere: Add more spice and atmosphere to the match day. For example, matches between 2 fierce rivals should be packed with cards, rough tackles, touchline trouble, etc. I understand that this may not be possible with real players. So please enable this with newgens. Also a sense of urgency should be developed among the players. At present they just seem so languid and unenthusiastic. 9. Assistant manager's feedback: IMHO this feature needs a major overhaul. At present all this tells me is a statistical account of the match being played. Instead if it could suggest improvements like "Make Player X close down within his own area", "Make Player Y operate more defensively", "Curtail Player Z's freedom" , etc, it would be really useful both for beginners as well as players who watch the game on Key Highlights. 10. Set piece routines: We should be able to preplan set pieces from 10-15 locations with 2-3 variations for each location, based on match situation and players available on the pitch. Free kicks should also be demarcated into 3 types: FKs just outside the penalty area, FKs 30-40 metres away and free kicks from defensive areas. 11: Player chat options: Although I dont realistically see this section getting drastically improved, I would the programmers to increase the number of approaches possible to a given situation or press conference question. That is, instead of five answers I should be given the choice of say 10.Also as is done every year, the number of potential player-manager, manager-manager situations for chatting should be increased. 12: PPM's and learning: Learning of PPMs shouldnt just be restricted to tutoring and specific focus. When say a 17 year old starts training with the first team, he will naturally imbibe various characteristics from the first teamers, both good and bad. Tutoring could be implemented as an additional layer to this. 13: Starting your career as an U-18's manager: The option of being an U-18/ Reserve team manager of any team should be available to us as an option. We would be in charge of everything except transfers and maybe board expectations. Players can get called up to the First team etc and this should be a new source of conversation with the team's first team manager. If we win say a youth cup or reserve league, our reputation should increase and we should be approached by lower league teams to be their manager. 14: Spending your wages towards affiliated clubs: This point has been discussed about time and again. I feel we should spend our wages towards partnering affiliated teams (paying them their annual fee in the form of monthly installments). Each additional benefit should cost an additional monthly fee. The quality of teams that you can make your affiliate should proportionally increase with the money you earn. Since a max cap to the user's salary is hard-coded, the maximum level of affiliated teams will naturally be set accordingly. We should also have the option of setting up additional reserve teams. 15: Flexibility over spending transfer and wage budgets: Supposed I have 100K p/w left in my wage budget, I should jolly well be able to offer it all to one player without the board restricting me. I mean if I am planning all the transfers to be on a budget, I should be able to manipulate the budget to be able to use it the way I want to. Smaller Wishes 1. Better management of Reserve Teams by Reserve Team managers. At present, they just field U-18 players. 2. Better explanations for the game's features. Something HIGHLY needed. 3. Maybe having a jukebox/radio in game. So you could create playlists and the game would randomly play them. 4. Having a basic editor to edit the face and hairstyles of regens to the way you see fit. 5. The ability to turn referee mistakes on or off. 6. The ability to start with a database with the summer transfers turned off.
managerdude_66
As I'm not able to add any more text in Post #1, I will updating this post with newly thought wishes. Due to the sheer length of this post, I have not put it in the wishlist thread. Thanks for your time!
