Chalky1989
I'm England boss, used to be USA boss, and in both jobs I used to get players who were about 35-36 asking me about their international future. This isn't that bad to me, unless you factor in that often they're players who were never in contention in their younger days, or have minimal experience at that level. And when there's clearly much better options. The one that prompted this thread was Craig Dawson(IRL of West Brom?) who is now 36 on my save, with about 15-20 CB's ahead of him in the pecking order, when he's without a club at the moment. And spent his last two seasons underperforming in the championship. I can't see why a player in his situation would feel the need to seek assurances about his international future. Anyone else get this sort of thing a lot.
GR3NDAL
Yep I have players asking me this (I am England manager) when I dont even know who they are! Is Craig Dawson still in your National Pool btw? I have wondered if removing them from the Pool would give them the required hint that they have no chance in hell of playing.
podunkboy
I'm managing Senegal, and since I didn't load all their players at the start of the save, their national pool's a little threadbare at the young end. Most of the players (10 years into the save) are 30-36, announcing their retirement from professional football while jockeying for a place on the national team. Admittedly, one of the center backs who's 36 is still a stud that I'll willingly give him a spot on the roster, but most of them pop up with an injury every 3-4 weeks, so it's risky to give them a spot on the 23-man roster. Last WC qualifying game, I had 3 players come up lame too late for replacement. And if you put the seniors on the team, the press criticizes you for putting past-their-prime players on it, if you pick a youngster, the press criticizes you for not selecting a more qualified and deserving legend. If the oldsters ask, I just give them the "I'll consider you in the future" response, and I ignore the press.
