Billy Sharp - 1/2 Chance IMO

Fraizer Cambpell - 08/09

Get the drift ? Basically look up some premier teams reserve squads .

Frees ,

Goalkeepers:

Julien Boul - only 21 so he has some room to grow. Should be good up until L1 and maybe Championship.

Daniel Jaccard - Decent L2 or L1 keeper (or lower if he'll sign).

Nicolas Caglioni - another young keeper who might even be good enough to get you to the Prem.

Yannick Quesnel - getting older but would be a superb Championship backup keeper or L1 starter.

Florient Chaigneau - young French keeper with good potential.

Roddy McKenzie - He's got a year or two for a BSPrem squad.

Nauzet - Spanish keeper with Championship level potential.

Jan Schlosser - very good young German keeper for Championship or lower EPL sides.

Fullbacks:

John Halls - Great Solid RB for the Championship . Best on this list.

Andrea Camussi - Good leftsided fullback for BSP or L2 sides. Might be good enough to get you to L1.

Cristian Fernandez - excellet Argentine fullback will sign for L2 sides and is good up Championship.

Javier Garrido - Good L1 or Championship fullback.

Steven Campbell -- good lower league fullback

Jean-Felix Dorothee - Good L1 or L2 fullback and might be good until Championship

Centeral Defenders:

Cristiano - Brazilian defender is superb in L2 or L1.

Ties Heldens - solid Dutch defender

Frederic Dehu - Old Frenchie but still got enough in the tank to shore up your defense in L1 or Championship

Tieme Klompe - Another aging defender with a season or two left

Emiliano Dudar - Classy Argentine defender that is good for Championship and even lower Prem teams

Marko Muslin - Decent L1 or Championship defender

Carl Parisio - former Arsenal youth team member is good for L2 sides or lower if you can sign him

Defensive Mids:

Cocito - excellent Brazillian could hold his own on lower prem sides

Pablo Blazquez - Good Spanish holding mid

Walker - talented Brazilian mid good up until Championship @ least

Gyorgy Korsos - Hungarian DM can also play in central defense or as a right sided fullback

Denis Dasoul - Belgian with some potential excellent signing for L2 teams

Ferne Snoyl - Championshi level midfielder

S.Soley - Ex Preston DM

Central midfielders:

David Kasri -- highly recommend for L1 sides or even low SPL team

Renaud Connen -- good solid L1 or Championship midfielder but probably not good enough for the Prem.

Peter Hedinh - good for L2/L1 might be good enough for Championship some day

Sergio Martinez - definatley gets to be Championship/lower EPL quality but give him time to develop

Lucien Dors -- another good L1/Championship midfielder

Gaetano Fontana - Has one good season for a lower division team left

Johann Vogel -- Swiss international is getting older but would compliment many Championship/lower EPL sides

Marcus Bean - Good Backup DM .

Attacking Midfielders (Right side)

Alioune Toure -- nifty speedy winger excellent for L1/championship

Marino Promes -- Nice dutch winger good for Championship or even lower EPL sides. Also excellent in SPL

Marc Clamy -- I have signed him with L2 teams and is a good winger that can also play fullback

Steve Notman -- good lower league winger can take you to L2 maybe L1

Sylvain Franco -- claims to be a striker but is more suited on the wing imo

Attacking Midfielders (Left side)

Robbie Foy -- excellent for BSP or L2 teams and gets a bit better maybe good enough for Championship some day

Toufik Zerara -- nice Championship level winger on the left

Alexandre Frutos -- Good L2 or L1 wing man

Max Lohy -- Can play in central attack or on the left wing

Dennis Kempe -- trained correctly he could be lower EPL level some day. Hit or miss tbh.

Joe Tillen -- Good lower league wing man

Jack Plummer -- Need BSN or BSN winger he is useful doesn't get very good though and BSP is probably his limit

Attacking Mids (Centre)

Bonaventure Kalou -- Prem level attacking mid very good

Renan -- Brazilian with some potential. Championship level at best.

Ruben -- Good L1 or L2 midfielder

Taianan -- Brazilian/German good for Championship or L1

Strikers:

Steve Marlet - Getting older but still good. I had him @ Dundee Utd once and he was fierce.

Claudio Lopez - another aging but still good striker. Excellent for Championship or SPL clubs.

Adair Junior - Excellent for L1 or L2 clubs and will score.

Dion Esajas - Nifty Dutch striker good for L1 or Championship level clubs. Also had him in MLS and was very good

D'Acol - Brazilian striker is excellent for L1 sides. Probably good enough until you get to the Championship but EPL might be a bit of a stretch

David Graham - excellent for BSP or L2

Carl Asaba - aging English striker can still get some goals in for you for a season or two

These players must be bought!!!

New Update:

John O'Toole: Turns out into a great MC

Havard Nordveit: On loan from Arsenal. Great DC

Joe Devera: Young CB from Barnet. Good backup and turns out a brilliant Championship defender in a season or so.

Nicolo Rossetti: Italian Forward. Great for League One and up, and in two seasons can play even in Premiership for average clubs

Paul Robinson: Great Centre Back from Millwall. Helps any Championship and League One team

Andres Kolin'ko: A MUST for Championship and League One. Still has 3 seasons left in him

Emiliano Insua: ON LOAN from Liverpool. Amazing left back. Is A MUST

These players were brought in season 1, for my CREWE team in LEAGUE ONE!

They are all great. ANY other suggestions.

Lyon (about 6 saves), Anderlecht but i also did some saves with A. Madrid, Ajax, Ac Milan (although very short one), STVV (a minor team in Belgium) only 450.000 euro transfers (do you think i can buy a lot of these players with that money), going to do one with Bayern.

Cheers , ill try some of them now for blackpool .

Joe devera looks promising as !!

Yer Joe Devera is only like 60k and turns out a great CB. His heading gets to like 19. He is perfect for the corner cheat :p

Him and Paul Robinson were my two cb's until I got Rafael Forster second season

Ottesen is better but you will need the Swedish league loaded.

Rok Kronaveter is a good buy. From your massive list at the top of this thread i bought Mohaned Remili, Rok Buzeti and Jean Felix Dorothee for my Swansea side in league 1. A few didn't come up on my search, quite alot werent good enough and a couple wouldn't come to me.

Get Thibault Giresse from France, he's an AMLC who can also play at the top level in any nation. He's usually around the one or two million pounds mark. Also Franck Chaussidiere (sp?) from France and is a DC/DMC who can be a top defender for any Championship side. I think you have to have the French League running for him to be on the game.

  • 3 weeks later...

Xavier Balc, needs MLS loaded. Very good championship player that will come to League 2 sides (Haven't tried lower.) He's a fixture in my Millwall game, getting around fifteen to twenty assists a season and at least ten goals, most of them crackers.

I thought that copying my post from the Sheffield United thread will be useful as it has Championship League relevance for all you budding managers!

I was Sheffield United to begin with and now in my 4th Season I am currently a Premier League champion and am currently in the Second Stages of the Champions League. This would not have happen though without making clever signings to begin the game.

Mohammed Kallon to begin must be your first signing on a Free Transfer. He is phenomenal! A key performer in the Championship and in the Premiership for the future! Sign him up!

I'd recommend from personal experience to get Gabriel Torje. Nurture him well and you can sell him for alot if you get promoted. He was the reason for the purchase of World Class goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to the team. Sold Torje for around £11 million to Wigan.

Laszlo Sepsi is another gem for the Championship who you can buy for a half a mill and then flog off for around £7 million in the Prem and use the money for good use.

Nengomashe and Da Mota are good enough defensive midfielders for the Championship too may I add!

Building for the future I'd get the Football Manager 2008 legends: Billy Sharp and Bogdan Stancu both are absolutely class and priceless for your Sheffield United team. If you're too late, sign Fraizer Campbell on loan and Marius Niculae. I'd class them as the B-Team compared to Sharp and Stancu.

Mika Aaritalo was also another gem for my promotion from the Championship with the blades. Phenomenal rating at the end of the Season, coughed up a magnificent £6 million transfer fee from PSV.

Rene Mihelic too was a good signing for around 300k. From personal experience he is a great player in the Championship and Premiership.

Edgar Alvarez for a different reason is a not bad at all. I was offered him at 500k from Roma. Flogged him off for £7 million half a season later! I think it was mainly due to his rep.

However, in my opinion the key bit of business for a Championship season is the purchase of Jimenez mid Season. £1.8 million around abouts is a good bit of business for a player who is undoubtedly the best player on Football Manager 2008. From personal experience he was instrumental in my 3rd season with Sheffield United where he single handedly won me the Premiership with 20 goals in 40 games in Attacking Midfield! A true legend. He unsurprisingly won the Premier League Footballer of the Season award.
