Question regarding Inside forwards

Recommended Posts

Hey everybody.

Do anybody know how you make your inside forward play as a "second striker" much like Ronaldo does for Real Madrid. When i try to put my left winger on inside forward attack he just seems to stay out wide more often, and he is not to find in the box as Ronaldo is IRL.

Any help is appreciated.

The two main things I would look for would be to ensure your inside forward's favourite foot is the opposite of the side you are playing him. If a player is on the left and his favoured foot is his left he is more likely to NOT cut inside. Also try to ensure that he has a PPM of cut inside to encourage this type of movement.

It's also important how you set up your formation. A DLF/S, CF/S or trequartista at striker can drop deep and drag defenders out of position to open up space for your IF to attack. And an overlapping wingback on the same side can also help create openings.

Also consider that if your inside forward is really poor with his weaker foot, he may be getting shown on to it by the defenders which will make it harder to cut in.
