Tactical systems?

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody..

So what do you guys seem to succeed with? Are you setting up 3 tactics to switch between depending on what you see on the pitch?, or are you making a tactic for home games and away games? Do you think it is possible to achive great succes with just one tactic all the way?

Please share your thoughts and tricks on what you do to select the appropriate preparations you do before a match.

Thanks in advance

Everyone need to makes adjustments from match to match. You could have some success going with one strategy but it will probably not be a big one. You just can't play the same way against Manchester United as you would play against Stoke for example. A possession based side has different strengths and weaknesses than a counter-attacking side and so on.

Change of strategy can come in many different ways. You don't have to change entirely your formation from match to match- a simple swap of players of a single shout could work. For example in my current Fiorentina save, when I want to sit deep and have more protection for my cb's, I use Giulio Migliaccio who is a great anchor man but not much more. Strong and great on the tackle. However, in games where I feel more comfortable to push higher up I use David Pizarro, who is too light to play the dm role in a deep defensive line, but a fabulous playmaker obviously, and that works well with a high line. That swap of players couple with Push Higher Up/Stay Deep shout completely changes how I play right there.

A key thing is to also preparation. Reading scout reports and analyzing the opponents is a very important aspect of the game. Look at how they play and according to that decide on which strategy to use.

Hope I helped, sorry if my English is bad.

In theory the best team in the league can probably do just one tactic. They are so good that everyone else has to adapt to them.

However, the rest of the teams will need some variation to promote strengths and reduce weakness. I will have 3 different formations with Counter, Standard and Control strategies. One of the formation will have a DMC and another will have AMC. Depending on the report I will play the appropriate tactic.

I like to have 3 tactics on-hand, even if I use one tactic 80%+ of the time, just so if my wingers go down with an injury or suspension, I can play a center-based tactic, or if my opponent's overloading up front or midfield, I can add another DMC or CD, and I'll know it's maxed on fluidity and ready to play. Even my Senegal national side has three tactics ready, but we only play an off-the-shelf 4-4-2, as they really don't have practice time like a pro side.
