Disable transfer window

What exactly does the disable first transfer window option actually do?

Does this allow you to spend but none of the AI, or does this apply to your own team too?

Also, are u allowed to buy free players/loan players with this option?

It stops all teams from having a transfer budget so you can't buy players. You can, however, still sign free players and free loans iirc.

So you as the player can't sign either?

Do the AI still buy players but the deals go through in Jan or do they just not buy until Jan?

No, because their transfer budget is zero.

Oh I see. So their transfer budgets start in Jan? How come you get given a transfer budget at the start then?

I haven't started with the transfer disabled in a while, but if I remember correctly, you nor the AI can bid for players until sometime in Dec.

Also remember that as agent fees and signing fees now come out of the transfer budget even free agents will be difficult to sign

For anyone wondering I believe the reason for it is so that teams play with the correct (at last database update) teams until the next transfer window. The idea is that it mirrows RL until Jan.

Every time I select this, I get given funds by the board around the start of November!

It makes the game a lot tougher if you are used to starting a game with a big transfer budget. But it also makes the game realistic since teams will play with their original database roster until the next transfer window. I learned how to wheel and deal with other teams for loan and free transfers this way. I have also signed a player on a free transfer with zero agent fee and zero signing fee.

...also might I add that you can only sign new staff members that are not attached to other clubs since the compensation fee is deducted from a transfer budget if there is one.
