4-4-2 issues

Recommended Posts

Need some advice. Since the patch I cant get my 4-4-2 to consistantly perform (seems that the AI need less CCC to score than i do) Could it be my tactics?

Playing as Buxton in the skrill premier (doing the Dafuge challenge)

iiya.png

Fludity - Balanced (tried Rigid previous match)

Mentality - Control

CD - no instructions

FB- stay wider, run wide with ball

W- Cross Aim target man

CMD - Pass it shorter, tackle harder

AP - no instructions

AF - no instructions

TMS - Move into channels

Can post pics of players in said roles if needed.

cheers

This doesn't look bad at all to me tbh. I see that you are using an AP by the way, are you sure that this player is good enough for this role, considering you are playing in the Skrill Prem? Team instructions look fine, however you probably would be better off with a Balanced fluidity, since you're using only 3 specialist roles. I can see you would have problems with these Instructions if you don't have good passing attributes in comparison to the other teams in the league though.

In what way is your squad underperforming -scoring, conceding or both? What do you feel they are not doing as they should be?

You only have one person set to convert any chances you create, so all the other team needs to do is sit on your AF and you won't score. Try setting your TM(s) as a DLF(s) and the AP to a straight CM(s/a) or BBM. If your AF is good in the air, set the left Winger to attack and float crosses. If he's fast but short use the RW on attack and Drill Crosses. You may also need to switch some roles in the middle to compensate. Also remove Look For Overlap as your Wingers won't make many forward runs with this shout activated.

I'm not sure what you're trying to achieve with your team instructions, a 4-4-2 doesn't really lend itself to a possession-based game too well. You have Lower Tempo, Play Out of Defence and Shorter Passing but the way your team is setup you don't have many passing options in the middle.

Well, it seems to me that the first one in particular is pretty old and poor physically. There was a recent thread in here, that stated that mental attributes were actually more important than the physical ones in respect to beeing successful in the lower leagues. While this might be the case, J.Harper is extremely slow and has low stamina. His bravery and strength, though not the most important attributes for an AP, are also critically low, which means that pretty much anyone who closes him down and even slightly tackles him would neutralize him. Now imagine this guy dictating the tempo and being the 'main outlet for attacking'. While the lad has good mental attributes, his poor technical ones would hinder his movement further up, rendering his efforts useless. Imo you should drop him.

K. Dawson has good Teamwork and Work rate, but lacks the mental and technical attributes to pull of the AP duty. Mind you, an AP tends to move a lot and these two guy just won't do IMO.
