Sean1967
After seeing the Englishmen first XI I've decided to post my Scottish XI and see everyones opinions and views. The squad I've picked is based on value for money, how well the develop and what impact the could make immediately. Jonathan Henly Ryan Jack - John Souttar - Mark O'Hara - Joe Chalmers James Forrest - Tom Cairney - Stuart Armstrong - Ryan Gauld Stevie May - Tony Watt I've obviously missed some big names but this is a squad you could build on a budget of about £10m over 1/2 seasons. Sean1967
I have him in my team also but out of him and Gauld it's a no brainier.
Midfield Triangle
Its a shame gaulds been underrated should be -
Sean1967
It is. Glad he's staying at Dundee for the mean time the could could turn out something special if he plays it right.
Kail
Tony Watt is pure class in Lower English Leagues
oneronaldo
Jordan Rhodes surely? The man is a goal machine for the AI teams on my save. So good that Juventus are chasing him.
Sean1967
If you read the full post you'll realise why I left him out. He'd cos about £8m alone, my squad was a budget squad. I'd love to hear everyone's first eleven.
Gandy
I am amazed Jordan Rhodes was left out .. edit: aaaaand I just read it's a budget squad, oops.
milnerpoint
Personally id have the boy Robertson from Dundee United at left back and i wouldnt have Forrest at all in my team, he will only play 20 games a season at most.
Sean1967
The reason I didn't go with Robertson is that I was beat to signing him and he's not really developed in my game so I can't comment. Chalmers took over from Izaguirre at the end of the first season. As for Forrest the first season he had a few injuries but since he's played 35+ a season and managed 15+ goals/assists on average. Sean1967
This is just from my experience of value for money. I was Celtic so I might be a bit biased as I already had some players. There are countless players for each position that I mossed out. Half of them are in my squad. The only position I really struggled with was the keeper. milnerpoint
See Forrest hasnt developed at all in 6 seasons in my game, to the point he was given a free from Celtic and now warms the bench for Reading under 21's, he's had 4 very serious injuries tho. Id be inclined to pick Pawlett ahead of him myself.
petauk
young paul mcmullan has turned into a goal scoring machine in my game sean. so much so just sold him to Liverpool for £6.5 million
Sean1967
I never really gave McMullan the chance, regret it now after hearing that.
Welshace
McKay for striker for me ... much more consistent than May.
seanydude
I'd put Taylor-Sinclair over Joe Chalmers
Welshace
isn't he classed as english on the game? if not, he should definitely get the nod over chalmers
seanydude
He's only eligible for Scotland in my Game and was born in Aberdeen
Welshace
Ahh my mistake then, he's almost always my go to leftback for championship sides at the start of the game.. for some reason I had him as English... which would come across as biased, but i'm welsh and much prefer him to be scottish

seanydude
This thread has made me wanna take over the national team on my Celtic game. There's a right decent crop of young Scots when you add in players who would cost a bit IE Rhodes, Grimmer, Mcarthur. Just a shame we're a little light at CB AND for a defensive minded midfielder although Bridcutt did the Job on past FMS
Sean1967
Seems to be a lot of controversy over the choice of Chalmers, have a look at why I picked him. He's my first choice and on only £2k p/w and not made a peep about a new deal.
Sean1967
McKay for striker for me ... much more consistent than May. What McKay are you talking about? If its Billy McKay form Inverness he's from N. Ireland.
MichaelBrown
Stephen Hendrie? Kenny Maclean? (one of my favourites) Lewis Macleod? Kevin McHattie? Jordan McGhee? Not necessarily saying they are better than the ones you chosen, admittedly my knowledge of Scottish youngsters is dependant on FM. However, they'd be people to consider I reckon. Welshace
What McKay are you talking about? If its Billy McKay form Inverness he's from N. Ireland. The Striker? oh, my knowledge on the Scottish league needs work lol...
SloppyTouch
I'd throw Calum Paterson into the mix. Weird stats but can be developed into a decent target man or winger
Loader
Leigh Griffiths is a must very cheap to buy and he has been a goal machine in the lower leagues for me.
