Ridiculous Timing...

Though managing in Holland I noticed that Steve McLaren has just been appointed the manager of Everton. Thought I'd check out how the Wally with a Brolly got on at Derby (end of 2015 season in game) and to my surprise the appointment had come just three hours before his Derby side were to play Reading in the Championship Play-off final!!!

With no manager and a club no doubt in turmoil Derby lost the subsequent play-off 3-0, missing out on a return to the big time whilst Steve barely furthers his career as Everton had already been relegated. Obviously he feels the Championship is where he belongs!

I'm sorry, but this just would not happen...

... Anyone else had any situations arise at the most unlikely of times?

I don't know if this is considered as a similar situation. Arsene Wenger won the Europa League for Arsenal which must have been their first trophy in 10+ years (because it was my 3rd season) and they sacked him straight after.

Or did he retire? In my save he retired in summer 2015 as he reached 65yo.
