Pelz
Though managing in Holland I noticed that Steve McLaren has just been appointed the manager of Everton. Thought I'd check out how the Wally with a Brolly got on at Derby (end of 2015 season in game) and to my surprise the appointment had come just three hours before his Derby side were to play Reading in the Championship Play-off final!!! With no manager and a club no doubt in turmoil Derby lost the subsequent play-off 3-0, missing out on a return to the big time whilst Steve barely furthers his career as Everton had already been relegated. Obviously he feels the Championship is where he belongs! I'm sorry, but this just would not happen... ... Anyone else had any situations arise at the most unlikely of times? Vetinari
I'm finding that in this version it is quite common for managers to leave a promoted team for a relegated team from the division above. The game doesn't recognise until the "end" of the season that the changes are going to take place.
Pelz
Yeah, it happens quite a lot and isn't wholly uncommon in real life... Only thing that bugged me about it was it happening literally three hours before the playoff final. Weird...
borobadger
The same thing happens with players, if I have someone on loan for a season then go up, the refuse to extend the loan for the new season until I'm officially promoted in the game
brawla123
I don't know if this is considered as a similar situation. Arsene Wenger won the Europa League for Arsenal which must have been their first trophy in 10+ years (because it was my 3rd season) and they sacked him straight after. In my save he retired in summer 2015 as he reached 65yo.

forameuss
I checked his history and it definitely said sacked. What else did he do that season? If it was a truly awful domestic showing, then a Europa League trophy may not necessarily have saved him.

Rob4590
And where did he finish in the league?

Pelz
Ha, Wenger could probably finish tenth and the Arsenal board will still stick with him... I think Jose summed him up perfectly the other day!
