NeverBeenSacked
Football Manager 2014 Welcome all, This is going to be about my journeyman save. I am starting this journeyman save after the 14.3 patch. I have my experience set on Sunday League Football and I will start unemployed. This save is about me recording/documenting how I am doing in the world known as Football Manager 2014, approaching the game as realistic as possible and making decision based on how I would take them in real life. There is no aim or greater goal in this save. Although I would like to win as much as possible, which is possible. I've loaded all the leagues in the game, with a large database. I have no editors nor using any external database. I am going to report how I am doing in the Football Manager world every month and hopefully I hope you will enjoy this save as much as I hope I will. NeverBeenSacked
November 2013 The first job interview I recieved. Rhyl is doin't great at the moment, standing on the last position in the Welsh Premier Division. Speaking to the board I wasn't convinced. The board wanted to play defensive, direct football. Not something I was keen for, I'd like to approach an attacking style of play. Eventually they offered me the job, although we had different thoughts on how to play I friendly declined. I did this after I took a look at the squad, which only had 11 pro-players. Well pro-players, semi-pro, because the club has a semi-pro status. More reason for me to decline
NeverBeenSacked
December 2013 This is a great! I never expected to get an interview from such a great club with such big history. The board asked pretty much the sane as the Rhyl board, which is a defensive and direct way of playing. I decided not to dwell or discuss our philosphies too much and the only thing I wanted to be judged upon was signing youngsters for the first team. I felt we had a very good meeting and hopefully Lincoln will offer me a contract.
NeverBeenSacked
Lincoln City F.C. Lincoln is a city in the county of Lincolnshire. Is one of the major city's in the county. Lincoln is situated east-central of England. Lincoln City plays their home games at the 12th Imp Sincil Bank stadium. It's a 10120 all-seated stadium. The club is affectionately known as The Imps and are fierce rivals with Grimsby Town. The club has been founded in 1884 and had their best succes in the 1980's. Reaching as far as the Sky Bet Championship known today, which is the 2nd tier in English football. Lincoln City F.C. hasn't won any piece of silverware for over 20 years now and hopefully I can make some change during my spell at The Imps. Here is some club information: History | Facilities | General Information | Overview This is the squad I am going to inheret: Squad Depth. I believe there is something possible at Lincoln City and the certainly have the material to perform better then they do now. Hopefully I can swing things around. NeverBeenSacked
Lincoln City F.C. December 2013 After a good look at the squad I really wondered why The Imps fell short. Looking at the fixtures they played, the doubt went away quickly! Many draws, too many losses and an occasional win. This won't get you mid-table anywhere and that is shown in the league: Hopefully I can bring things around, and December has 6 more games to be played for. NeverBeenSacked
Lincoln City F.C. December 2013 Skrill Premier League So the first 5 games in the league that I am in charge of The Imps has been ok, not good nor bad. The Macclesfield game was massive as The Imps hadn't won any away game in a long period. Although our game against Alfreton was a weak one, not able to score is a worrying fact. Promotion running Chester made it clear that we're miles apart from eachother, although we came back twice in the game, Chester was playing us like a cat does with a mouse. We bounced back in a really good game against Grimsby. It was really pleasing to give some joy to the fans as this was a major clash between local rivals. Too bad we can't make a consective win, against Halifax F.C. we drew again. I adopted a 4-4-1-1 system playing on ball possesion. It worked so far, but there is much to improve, hopefully January will have some good results for us We made some progress in the league, getting away from relegation. Hopefully this can continue through the season. We do need to improve, but with wage-budget already being spent I don't see any near- or short- term improvements. FA Cup Trophy A good win against a promotion candidate Ebbsfleet. Sure enough, that makes 3 wins in 6 games, not a bad starting record for a manager who just started. NeverBeenSacked
Lincoln City F.C. January 2014 Skrill Premier League January has gone down much better then December did. The lads are getting used to the playstyle I prefer. It was very unfortunate that we couldn't get an away game win against Grimsby Town on new years day. But the next result against Luton showed me that the lads had abilities to bounce back after bad results. The Nuneaton result wasn't bad, but getting 2-0 up and getting the 3-3 late in the game was fortunate. Nuneaton is a promotion chasing team at this point, so I think we did fairly ok. We really showed that we can play good football against Welling, making a new record on the way. 7-0, something I haven't seen much ever. It was me, getting really upset after the Welling beating that we lost against Braintree. Complacement kicked in and we went down too easy. FA Cup Trophy We passed on, thanks to Havant & Waterlooville. It was something that made us on a consecutive win roll now. This set us through to the 4th round of the FA Cup Trophy. Miscellaneous Another record for in the history books. Next Month Skrill Premier League 4 more games in February, with promotion chasing teams as opponents. Hyde should be a win game and hopefully we get some result out of the home games. FA Cup Trophy Chester in the 4th round. This is not going to be an easy game, they showed us this month how good they can play and counter our tactics. Hopefully we'll manage to do great after our little run. NeverBeenSacked
Lincoln City F.C. February 2014 Skrill Premier League Not a bad month for the Imps. We really need the points, so not losing means we can get further away from the relegation zone. Special mentions are the games against Halifax and Chester. Halifax we got lucky in the end, leading 1-0, almost got defeated with 2-1, but we got a deserved 2-2 draw. Too bad it was an own-goal, which makes me worry about our goalscoring potential at times. The Chester game was a difficult one as they beat us early in the month in the FA Cup Trophy. I was happy to see we did manage to get a draw from them, as they're promotion potential in my eyes. FA Cup Trophy As mentioned earlier, Chester really outplayed us this time. From start to finish it was clear only one could win this game. I really gave the lads a falling out, maybe that helped them get undefeated in February in the league. Miscellaneous My first Manager of the Month! It was somehow suprising a relegation battling manager gets this award, but I was happily to accept it. I wonder why I've gotten it. I think seeing us unbeaten in the league gave me some credit. Next Month Skrill Premier League Only 1 home game. We're not doing great at away games, maybe March will bring things around, but I fear for the worst. NeverBeenSacked
Lincoln City F.C. March 2014 Skrill Premier League We performed much better then I thought we would. The most funniest thing was this month that we lost our home game. It was all thanks to complacement. The issue with my players is that they become easily complacent after some decent result, making it hard to win consecutive games, making it possible to lose games we play at home. Never the less I was statisfied with the results away from home. Aldershot win was a massive one, making it 3-2 it the dying second of the game. We got a major boost from that game and some players got over confident, which is shown in a record breaking 4-5 win against Alfreton. It made the lads cocky and overconfident. No wonder we were able to lose from Braintree at home. Gateshead proved to be a good quality side and we weren't able to suprise them in their home game. I was happy to see that we were able to bounce back for a decent Tamworth result. We made some considerable progress in the league. From 23th place up to 14th and there is some potential to achieve some more. Miscellaneous How the media thinks my philosophy works, in truth, I like to concede 0, but lacking the players for it. Another new record. I accepted the new offer, we never really needed to discuss the current vision as I thought The Imps are able to achieve the goals. Youth Intake Only gave 4 players a contract. In my vision the need 4-star potential if we want to challenge for the title or anything like that sorts if we want to progress. Next Month 4 more games in April. It's touch and go really, I do not know at this point if we can succeed for consecutive wins and doing good away from home. It can go either way. brawla123
You've almost got their goal difference back to a positive and you went from 23rd place to 14th. If I was a Lincoln fan, I'd be over the moon. Congrats on the MOTM and good luck for the April games. It was obvious they would offer you a new contract, they would be stupid not to. Cheers Brawla123, I agree that we do great atm, but didn't expect to get a new contract after just 3 months in. Fingers crossed for a good finish to the season, aiming to get higher then 15th as media-predicted us.
NeverBeenSacked
Lincoln City F.C. April 2014 Skrill Premier League April went down horribly. We failed to make any impression nor making any progress for a little dash to the finish. We did start the month with a good win against Dartford, but failing to make anything out of the remaining games was something I feared for. 2 more draws and 2 late losses against opponents who're a bit further then us. Losing against Cambridge was not something I wished for, we could've gotten more, but we lack the quality to make anything happen. We threw the game at Wrexham, don't want to make more out of nothing and 2 silly draws. It's like the option at the end of season interview: I think the players had their mind set on vacation, from the beginning of April. It was not pleasing at all, because I had hoped we would achieve better then the media predicted at the beginning of the season. Much work lays ahead for the management of the Imps. We dropped down one place and ended 15th this season. Not too bad if you consider I took over in December when the Imps was 23rd. But it's like I said earlier, it's time to move on and learn from our mistakes and build from there to do better then we did in the last month. Maybe we can stir up a suprise in the Skrill Premier League. For now, vacation and I need everyone refreshed when they come back. NeverBeenSacked
Lincoln City F.C. End Of Season 2013/2014 Overall the board are statisfied with my work, funny thing they mentioned that player perfomences were below par. Althought I thought that players performed better after I took over. A loanee really caught their eye, but he's not going to be a part of my squad next season, as I have some bosman-players coming in in July. The best XI, this season, aswell the system/tactic I play. Sean Newton really had a good 2nd half season. One of my best players at the moment.
NeverBeenSacked
Lincoln City F.C. Pre-Season 2014/2015 Friendlies I left my assistant in charge dealing with friendlies and he came up with 6 games, including our feeder-team Leeds United Overall not completly statisfied with the result, but I wasn't dishearted either. We really did well against Leeds and won 3 out of 6, not bad actually. Next Month Skrill Premier League Finally, the league is about the start. We're off to a hard start of the season, Luton seems a difficult opponent, just as Forest Green and Kidderminster. I am anxious to start the league and to find out where we are progression wise. NeverBeenSacked
Lincoln City F.C. August 2014 Skrill Premier League Not a bad start to the season, we really did well against Luton and I expected a much better performance from Luton. We then went on and beat Kidderminster, but after that, 2 away games saw us winning nothing. We had nothing to tell against Aldershot, only a last minute effort and against Forest Green we we're behind all the time. We then got a disappointing home game against Braintree, where we should've won. We got plenty shots on goal, but their keeper seemed unbeatable. The match against Hereford was something I hoped for, because we could use a win. Morale dropped after the first 2 games, so I am pleased to see, we won this one. 7th place after 6 games. Not a bad place to start from with only 3-points behind 1st place. Season is young and there still much football to play for. Hopefully we'll get some decent results and maybe improve a bit. Miscellaneous Jordan was a free transfer and play's trequarista. He has been absolutely outstanding this month and I think he deserved this win. Next Month Skrill Premier League 8 games in September! This is amazing, there is no way we could win them all, but I like to beat Grimsby and Chester.

NeverBeenSacked
Good to see steady improvement from a poor start to last season. NeverBeenSacked
Lincoln City F.C. September 2014 Skrill Premier League An amazing month where we almost took it all. Only 1 loss and 1 draw against Chester and Woking, but winning the 6 other games this month was thrilling and must propel us forward. First off this month winning against Grimsby in an away game proved that we're on to something. Carrying on that good feeling all the way against Histon. Chester proved to be our bogey team. Haven't beaten them once in the league. Woking was an ok result, would've liked to win it, but bouncing back from the Chester game it wasn't a bad result. We did make it count against Salisbury. We did make it hard for ourselfs, getting them back in the game twice, my no.1 goalkeeper doesn't look so solid anymore and I'm thinking of replacing him by our future star and 17-year old transfer free player I brought in. An amazing September month saw us on top of the league. Not something anyone predicted this season, but a good run shows that anyone can go on top. At this point we're looking like a solid team and I sure hope we carry on our good form and maintain it. Miscellaneous My 2nd Manager of the Month award. Always nice to recieve some credit for your hard work. Next: Transfer Summary
NeverBeenSacked
Lincoln City F.C. September 2014 Transfer Summary Out: Most of them left without their contract renewed as I didn't see any future for them at the Imps. I loved to keep Bohan Dixon, but he declined every contract offer I made. It didn't help Nuneaton, who promoted last season gave him a better contract then I could give. Loanees could use the experience they're given by their new teams. In: Lewis Walter Kris Lowe Jordan Richardson Adam Davies Next Month Skrill Premier League October is going to be a much more mellow month then hectic September. No difficult challenges either, but with that attitude it could mean our downfall, we need to give it 100% every game.

Not sure the specifics on the cards, but both are high end. The pc is able to pull FM14 fully with other games on ultra, which is nice if you like multitasking. Have you been sacked yet? NeverBeenSacked
Lincoln City F.C. October 2014 Skrill Premier League After a great September month, October was so-so. We were clueless against Altrincham, but bounced back against Tamworth and pushed on against Macclesfield. Having almost all of my 1st class strikers injured things went sour against Gateshead. We're unable to score, even at home. Hopefully this isn't a sign on thing to come and it's my job to turn things around. 2 losses in the month also ment we couldn't keep the 1st place in the table, although we're still in promotion place. There is no difference for the no.1,2 and 3. only goal difference is separating us. Forest Green and Grimsby also looking for us to slip as they could overturn us. The league is exciting this season and so far we're doing better then last year. FA Cup An easy home game against Barrow, which we won with no big effort. Next Month Skrill Premier League Top 3 in the league are having a battle for 1st place in November. We have 2 major matches against AFC Wimbledon and Ebbsfleet. Hopefully we'll take something from those games and get us up the league. Also a tough match against Cambridge in November, not able to win one single game against them, hopefully this year things will go differently. FA Cup A tough game against Rotherham, who play Sky Bet League 1. The fact this is home game should make things interresting, I wonder how well my team will fare against a much better opponent. NeverBeenSacked
Lincoln City F.C. November 2014 Skrill Premier League So November was a crazy month. I had to play against the 2 teams above us in the league. The first one was against Ebbsfleet away and for the majority of the game I thought we would draw the game. But Ryan Fraughan had other ideas when I brought him on and scored twice to make us victors over Ebbsfleet. The home game against AFC Wimbledon was a reality check for my boys. We're doing really good in the league and while I like to chase for promotion at this point, AFC Wimbledon showed me and us that there is still a gap to cross for us to get there. Wimbledon was in every department better then we were and that stung for a while. Luckily, we had a relative easy game against FC Halifax, which we barely won with the thinest of margins. After that we couldn't beat Cambridge, they were set on beating us and did so in an aggressive manor. I lost 3 injured players in that match. Wrexham was a fortunate win and a real spectacul for the viewers. With 2-2 at half time, I had no real confidence we would make it, strikers not finding the net recently. But the team came together and 2 midfielders scored to get us a deserving win over Wrexham. Wimbledon on 1st place and we're on 2nd place with only goal difference dividing us. Ebbsfleet is trailing us with only 1-point less, together with Forest Green. It's really tight in the top of the league and next month this could change easily. It all depends how everyone form is at the moment and get the most out of the games. FA Cup Rotherham proved to be a better side and there was no real wonder they won. I'd like us to be a bit better, but in the end I could live with the score. FA Cup Trophy What appears to be an easy game was not in the end, we even got lucky getting a win through an own goal. But a win is a win and we're off to another round in the FA Cup Trophy. Next Month Skrill Premier League Only 3 matches. If we want to chase promotion I think it's important to win these games.
NeverBeenSacked
Lincoln City F.C. December 2014 Skrill Premier League The Imps really lived up to my expectation of winning 3 league games. The 1-0 Luton win was a good win, something I didn't think was possible, yet an own goal saw us taking 3-points. The Kidderminster result made me less happy. We gave a confident 2-0 lead away. The second half was all about The Harriers, because they could've won easily, yet they failed to finish us. And the mission almost completed against Aldershot. With only the thinest of margins. Worrying fact that my strikers seem to miss every chance. It's really frustrating as there are enough chances to score for them, they just can't find the net. My midfielder don't seem to have that problem and hopefully my strikers will find the net in the new year. The draw in against The Harriers made the difference in 1st/2nd and 3rd place. AFC Wimbledon had a good month and continued on winning. They lead the league with 53 points now and we're only trailing with 2 points behind. The league is only halfway about and I think/hope we'll continue our good form so that things aren't set now and we might suprise a few people. FA Cup Trophy A good result at a non-league team. We went up 2-0 pretty fast, but almost gave it away thanks to our complacement. Players seem to have some complacency issues and I need to sort that out a.s.a.p. Next Month Skrill Premier League Who said players will benefit from a winterstop?! well not the FA. 5 games for the league this month, with some massive games in it. 2 massive games against Forest Green and fiercy rivals Grimsby, luckily enough both are home games. I wonder how my players will sort this month out. Hopefully we'll get some points in our away games. FA Cup Trophy My initial reaction?:"Oh No!, not them". AFC Wimbledon is a quality squad and I don't see us beating them yet.

NeverBeenSacked
Lincoln City F.C. January 2015 Skrill Premier League I hoped we do well this month and luckily or thankfully we did. We managed to get some away point and beat competition for promotion spots. Battling for relegation Braintree was never a tough game and we beat them fairly easy. Forest Green we managed to draw, after getting behind 2-0. A halftime team talk with an angry manager and supporters getting behind the team, The Imps managed to come back. Made it was a sign to come, because Hereford, not particularly a high flying team in the league showed us we we're getting to confident and beat us fair. My strikers seem to have difficulty finding the net at this point. It was my striker who turned things around in the following matches, after I had a talk with him about his misfortune, bad luck or improductivity. Ben scored the winner against fierce rivals Grimsby and made 4 goals against Sutton United. This pleased me to a certain extend, because it gave me 2 options. Ben is a type of player who I need to talk to now and then, 'cause if I don't he'll go missing clear cut chances. I am not fond of the idea that a player can't motivate himself to such an extend and needs a talking to. We'll see how this will end go. For us nothing much has changed, we stay on 3rd place. Now we're 1 point behind league leaders AFC Wimbledon. Cheltenham had a good month and tied to 2nd with a better goal difference. Forest Green have made a little decline out of promotion places. Grimsby is now behind 3rd with 5 point. We're looking solid for a promotion place, I don't know if we can grab the title, after the FA Cup Trophy match against AFC Wimbledon I think I know who's the better side. FA Cup Trophy AFC Wimbledon has pretty much retained the same squad as they had in Sky Bet League 2 and showed us their skill. Having more quality in every department they were better then us. It was pleasing to see, that however they were better we gave them a run for their money and making it a spectical for the fans. Miscellaneous Jordan had a good month and I believe he deserved more then just a Young Player of the Month. I don't think Jordan will complain about the award though. Next Month Skrill Premier League I see 2 massive games in February. The game against Cheltenham is about 2nd place and perhaps it shows who's ready for promotion. I'd like to get something out of the Chester game, it seems we can't win from Chester. Seeing that it is an away game, just 1 point will do. I can see us win the other 3 games.
NeverBeenSacked
Lincoln City F.C. February 2015 Skrill Premier League It was a month with 2 faces. We proved that we're good at home and won the 3 games I predicted we would win. We, however, were really poor in our away games. Cheltenham just beat us using a productive counter attack and we simple failed to make the most out of our chances. Embarrasing result against Chester. They countered far too easy our offence and every shot on goal equaled a goal. My striker Ben, who failed to score once again in four matches got subbed. Lewis Walter returned from injury and proved in the last game that he's a better candidate for the striker position. Despite the 2 losses this month we somehow got up a place to 2nd. Cheltenham failed to take the most out of their win against us and now they're behind us with 1 point. AFC Wimbledon is 2 point up and with 1 more game to play I can see them get away from 2nd with 5 points. Next Month Skrill Premier League March is not the most intensive month I reckon. I consider the Ebbsfleet game as an important one. I hope we can succeed in winning the others. Hopefully be in form for the last match against Ebbsfleet, who're also promotion chasing
brawla123
That 6-0 loss looks painful. Good luck in March.
Nobby_McDonald
Nobby_McDonald, stop blaming the dog My bedroom smelt rancid when I got up this morning. No, the dog doesn't sleep in there. I blame the curry my fiancee cooked for me.
NeverBeenSacked
That 6-0 loss looks painful. Good luck in March. It really was Brawla123, it was a total off-day @ the office My bedroom smelt rancid when I got up this morning. No, the dog doesn't sleep in there. I blame the curry my fiancee cooked for me. NeverBeenSacked
Lincoln City F.C. March 2015 Skrill Premier League A really good month to keep some title hopes up. We didn't lose a single game and that's the really pleasing part. Walters shined true as striker and proves to be an excellent addition to the team. We can't afford such a player now, but thankfully we're having a link with Leeds United, so that we can loan these sort of players. It wasn't the most difficult month this season, as we played bottom and mid-table teams, but we kept our focus to the end, beating promotion chasing Ebbsfleet. Hopefully we can keep up with AFC Wimbledon and make it a tight race to the finish. Only 2 points divide us from no.1 AFC Wimbledon. With only 5 more games to come, all will be decided in April. We did manage to get away from fellow promotion chasing teams. Cheltenham is now 8 points behind us. I sincerley hope we can keep our run that we've got going now. It would mean that the pressure is on AFC Wimbledon to show they have the quality needed to become champion. We can only keep pilling on the pressure by winning more games. Miscellaneous Youth Intake 4-players with potential. I can offload the rest, but at this level I am pleased to see that some players came through. However, there is still much work for them ahead if they want to make it to the first team. Contract Talks I signed a new contract. The reason I signed a new contract in March was that I couldn't agree on the wages offered by the chairman. I believe it shows appreciation if my wages are higher then the previous contract, however the chairman thought otherwise. We met halfway in March and with a little wage-bump I signed another 1-year deal. Next Month Skrill Premier League The do or die month. I think we'll die, because all of our games our away and we don't play our best football away. The AFC Wimbledon game away is going to be massive and I fear for the worst. I sincerley hope we don't jeopardies our promtion ticket via play-offs.

NeverBeenSacked
Lincoln City F.C. April 2015 Skrill Premier League [/url] As I had anticipated. It was a rough month and luckily we scrapped some points, 6 in total. AFC Wimbledon showed that they're indeed a good squad, but we really made them work hard for the championship. Ultimatelly they won it, by beating us with the smallest of margins. Not a great match overall, but it was exciting from the first till the last minute. AFC Wimbledon fended us off easily and only needed 1 moment of brilliance in a counter attack to win the game and thereby securing the Skrill Premier League. We managed to get something out of the Wrexham fixture, but it didn't mean anything, AFC Wimbledon already won the championship. It really suprised me that AFC Wimbledon only beaten us with a 2-point difference. I think they let it go after clinching the title. Now awaits us the play-offs to secure promotion. First stop: Forest Green in a 2-way match. Miscellaneous Lewis shown some form this month, it was enough to win Young Player of the Month. In my eyes I feel that Lewis hadn't done enough to earn this. Maybe his competition showed lesser form. Next Month Skrill Premier League Play-0ffs Forest Green is our first opponent. We play at home first, hopefully get a good result and finishing it at their ground.
