Influence of tactical familarity and duration of tactic development

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

this year I switched from EA´s football manager to SI and I am pretty happy, but... unfortunately I have not been a very successful manager so far...

I usually start in December in Bundesliga and choose a team from bottom half to have a challenge. Friendlies (also against teams from Bundesliga) are going well, but normally as soon as the first league came comes, my team is struggling and I am having a lot of defensive problems. Last time I already tried playing with a defensive set up as below:

DF

S

TQ

A

DW CM CM DW

S A D S

FB CD CD FB

A D D A

GK

D

Mentality: Standard (I switched to defensive after some games)

Fluidity: Fluid

Morale: Okay

Do you think it is a problem of tactical familarity and I just need to be more patient?

I am glad for all help you can give to me.

Cheers

and opposition most often scores by just passing into space (often with "lobbed" passes)

Thanks for the info.

You may find that with both hassle opponents and get stuck in combined may pull players out of their defensive positions and leave you vulnerable at the back. If you're wanting to close down space then try swapping Hassle opp. with push higher up. That way there's less room between defence and midfield but players aren't running out of position too far to press.

Also as a side note, I'm surprised you don't have look for the overlap selected with defensive wingers and attacking fullbacks.

I hope this is helpful to you. I'm sure others could add more to this.
