impressive, but for some reason i expected to have more. means he has 97 when starting which is pretty damn awesome icon_cool.gif

anyway, most of what's to be said has been said, so i'll do bullety-pointy stuff:

tommy k: top save from osbourne, no chance with the goal, not really anything else to do. ably deputised.

nev: vast improvement on newcastle, might be able to get by without the op after all.

paddy: fantastic, don't think he put a foot wrong. great in the tackle, several excellent interceptions, good going forward and if you can outpace agbonlahor, you can pretty much outpace anyone icon_cool.gif

rio: hard for me to tell how much at fault he was for the goal from where i was, but otherwise pretty comfortable

wes: same as rio. his best performance in the middle for a while, although Villa really didn't offer much going forward

park: general play much better than newcastle, but end product similarly atrocious sadly. should be prevented from ever shooting at goal again.

ronaldo: in and out of the game, a constant threat but for once this season let down by his end product.

carrick: really stepped up i thought, ran the midfield for the first half - perhaps faded a bit later on. excellent defensively.

giggs: had an absolute shocker. nothing came off for him, didn't get forward enough, instead choosing to sit deep and try and thread balls through the defence like Scholesy, which a) he isn't good enough to do, and b) we had Carrick to do anyway. should have been moved wide with Park moved inside, only really got into the game when eventually shifted wide.

rooney: again, not poor but it's not quite there for him. not helped by the ref, he was kicked without penance from start to finish. baffled as to why he wasn't rested though, clearly needs it and when are we gonna get the chance to do that now? desperately needs a goal to go in off his arse or something as well.

larsson: one word - class. said it in the match thread, but he didn't look like a player making his debut, he looked like he'd played for us for ages. seemed almost inevitable he'd score, only surprise was it took so long. massively promising signs for the next 6 weeks, and hopefully longer.

fletch: the classic solid/unspectacular sub performance really got ridiculous amounts of stick from the crowd - at one point rooney sold him short with an awful pass and yet all the abuse was aimed at Dazzle. i despair of our support sometimes.

god: mark was right y'know, i don't think there's much point keeping this solskjaer fella, he's of no real use to us anymore. <3<3<3

ref: utter atrocity of a refereeing display. villa can probably feel hard done by as a result of his ineptitude too, just abysmal all-round.

our support: diiiiiiiire. no other word for it really, flatter than a pancake, with a healthy sprinking of daytripping morons

villa's support: pretty impressive, although you'd expect nothing less with such a sizeable allocation. could do with a few more songs though.

cheesecake: sadly absent icon_frown.gif

ftr, motm votes:

motm - paddy evra

2nd - henrik larsson

No one here goes to the game mate. We're all from either Hong Kong or Great Yarmouth.

Okay, firstly non-footballing matters, cheers for the info Mika I'll have a proper look at it tomorrow but it talks about the direction I'm interested in so icon14.gif

Onto the football:

MOM: Paddy Evra

2ND: Henrik Larsson

Paddy for just all round defensive brilliance and attacking thrust. Larsson for the goal and running their defence all over the shop with so much energy its untrue. Great debut.

Thank goodness for Ole though, what a hero. Really thought we were headed for a replay because there wasn't really a lot of energy in our play all afternoon. In saying that though there were a number of occassions where we were just wasteful in front of goal, especially in the first half.

Can't comment on AFFG since it was the product of a group of players not dealing with the threat on the edge of the box and it was too crowded for me to judge who was to blame from where I was. Have to watch MOTD before throwing my tuppence into this one.

TK had one save to make and it was a good stop. Not really keen on his punching mind you (more the act of him getting there rather than that actual act itself) but on the whole fine. GNev looked a bit freer so thats a plus, Wes had what I think was his best game for a while at CB but his distribution wasn't the best at times. Rio was solid if unspectacular. Paddy = RAVE RAVE RAVE icon_biggrin.gif

Ronny was in and out. Agree with Nick about end product. Carrick did fine, some ace passes through the Villa defence. Giggsy was sloppy in possession 80% of the time and seemed to be mainly on to take set-pieces, didn't offer a whole lot else in terms of effort or directing play IMO. Park much brighter but the lad can't shoot for toffee and needs to get back to being more efficient with the ball.

Same story with Wayne as I've been saying for a while - rest him, rest him now. Nothing is coming off for him at the minute. Why he was even selected ahead of Ole and why Rossi wasn't on the bench I don't know. I love Henke. Ole is Ole.

O'Shea inexplicably brought on with 2 minutes to go, Fletch on, bright and willing, given undue stick from any number of fans around me. Numpties.

Atmosphere today nothing to write home about. I don't know how you go about orchestrating a disparate group of 70,000+ people with more than UNITED UNITED UNITED. Although you'd think with record numbers of season ticket holders there'd be enough there week in, week out picking up the songs. Villa fans were loud but their songs were ****.

OH and c'mon Henke! </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I think its the clause that reads:

"If you win a game in which O'Shea takes part, you <STRIKE>get</STRIKE> deserve a ****ing bonus"
