georginho_juventusygr
So, your memorable moments of the World Cup that just ended? I think this World Cup will be associated with one incident that won't happen for another century: Suárez's bite. This even tops Klose's 16th World Cup goal. PMLF
- Brazil president Dilma getting booed in the opening game - Netherlands beating Spain 5-1 - Ochoa saving everything against Brazil - Suárez biting Chiellini - Costa Rica winning their group and losing no games - Germany crushing Brazil 7-1 - Klose becoming the top World Cup goalscorer ever - Netherlands crushing Brazil 3-0 - Brazil president Dilma getting booed after the final

TM
Spain being knocked out early, a team that had won the last 3 major football championships, one of the best teams of modern times and the 5-1 hammering from the Dutch is one that will be remembered from this tournament Brazil collapsing so badly against Germany in the Semi Final, would be surprised if you see anything like that in a SF of a major championship for a while. Depending on what happens to Germany in the future, you could say this tournament was the start of their domination if that ends up happening

Lermon
Yeah Netherlands 5-1 against Spain, and Van Persie's goal. England Vs Italy, and Uruguay. Germany 7-1. Portugal falling apart in the very first game. Costa Rica and their bamboozling of every opponent that played them.

Red_Arrow
As with most other people the Ned - Spa and Bra - Ger games stand out. Van Persie's header and Cahill and James' volleys stand out from the goals. Pepe's headpush on Mueller is more memorable as an event to me as I was actually watching the game but the Suarez bite will live longer. The winner for me though, the footage of Cristo Redentor 'holding' the setting sun. Just beautiful.

JD nawrat
Not the best quality but I couldn't find many gifs of it. This is one of my most memorable moments: Others include James' goal, Robben's dive v Mexico, Costa Rica in general, Tim Krul's unsporting penalty conduct as well as him being subbed on, 7-1 and Gotze's finish. Other stuff too but these are the most prominent ones.

Didaro
Best possible time to tell a leg-kicker that he finally went that little bit too far with his umptieth foul lol, fair point, Marquez does have a bit of a deserved reputation but to his credit he did manage to get through Mexico's run in the tournament without kicking anyone in the junk which was a remarkable act of restraint from him. I don't like seeing the officials deciding the outcome of games and that's what happened in Netherlands v Mexico. If they're going to let the players play then let them play, the call against Marquez is memorable to me because of the non-calls in similar situations earlier in that game with fouls in the area which were far more blatant than what Marquez did to Robben. If they're going to get strict all of a sudden then at least apply it evenly and card Robben for simulation because he deserved a card for that play just as much as Marquez did. Also fair, but Robben will rightfully have felt he deserved to get -at least- one penalty during that match. As he's a specialist in -there's enough contact to call this a foul, down I go- there's a great element of stupidity to Marquez' challenge. Clumsy. I think it was actually a penalty though. Screaming 'diver dives!' doesn't make it an actual dive. Oranje had Mexico on the ropes at that point anyway, they likely would have scored in extra time. At the end of the day, there was no injustiça ^^

Screaming 'diver dives!' doesn't make it an actual dive.Oranje had Mexico on the ropes at that point anyway, they likely would have scored in extra time. At the end of the day, there was no injustiça ^^ Robben did earn a penalty earlier in the game, it wasn't given. Mexico also deserved one earlier in the game, it wasn't given. If the referee is going to give a make-up penalty to the Dutch then he should also give a make-up penalty to Mexico, not doing so is in effect deciding the outcome of the game as I see it. You're right that saying the diver dived doesn't mean that he did in fact dive but in that case Robben did really dive. He was fouled but nowhere near hard enough to justify the theatrics that followed. I don't see a lot of European national teams but I do see a lot of teams in the Americas and I don't think Mexico was in as much trouble as you think they were and I have a hard believing that the Dutch would have been able to run with Mexico throughout extra time. Mexico knows how to handle the heat and it was very hot that day. If the penalty isn't given then how long do you think the Dutch would have been able to push guys forward? The penalty was awarded relatively early in extra time, after that they had the luxury of sitting back and they didn't exactly set the world on fire during the first 90. I don't think it's a foregone conclusion that the Dutch would have scored in extra time but that doesn't matter anyway, what matters is what did happen not what might have happened. There was injustice there in my opinion but overall a very entertaining tournament.

JD nawrat
pretty awful gif, can't see the goal at all The goal isn't what is important - it's his reaction and what it clearly means to the player that he has scored. TM
Brazil/Germany game will be the one thing that sticks out the most for me I actually reckon that will be the moment that most take away from this, on the night of the game I was getting Twitter flash up with people involved in US sports who never mention "soccer" but they were going mental for it. The idea of seeing lots of goals and Brazil getting humiliated seems to bring out a crowd

The idea of seeing lots of goals and Brazil getting humiliated seems to bring out a crowd Probably because Brazil is so overrated as a national team that those that don't follow football closely and many who do think Brazil is like the USA Man's basketball national team. Anthrax Dave
The mainstream USA finally showing signs of "getting" it regarding this sport. Boltman
Pinilla crashing that shot off the Brazilian crossbar in the dying seconds of extra-time.
