Hulk7
Wigan owner set a minimum season expectation of getting promotion to premier league. But with injuries to my star players such as mcnamanan, maloney, al habsi and maclean, I might fail the expectation. I'm currently on 6th but I can feel that I will not get promoted. Will I be automatically sacked?
FrazT
If you do not win promotion, then it is quite likely that you may be sacked, if that was the board expectation. It may take into account previous seasons if this is the first failure to meet expectations.

FrazT
Nothing like a likely maybe! Hedging my bets because, as you well know, just when you think that you know all the FM rules, the rules are changed.

kris0710
This is my first year with wigan.. will i still be sacked? Nobody knows for sure. But failing to meet expectation is never a good thing so it is a possibility.

ellazies12
It will all depend on other things, if you are close to getting promoted then they might keep you on. It will all depend! football manager
FrazT
This is my first year with wigan.. will i still be sacked? It is more than likely if you don't meet the owner's expectations, but you never know till it happens- what is your job status in your profile? Kenco
Keep all the other promises and the confidence bar high and you may have a chance of keeping your job.

realtimeFM
Distract the chairman, ask about his broken leg.
Aidan-lfc
Keep an eye on your job status. If it reaches insecure/precarious then you can have a chat with your chairman and there is an option to say something along the lines of 'The squad has struggled with injuries this season'. That should give you enough time to get into next season. Of course it might not, but it's worth a shout.
baronia
For what it's worth, I did a Wigan save and failed to gain promotion - and they sacked me. I don't recall where I finished, but I don't think I did too badly in a really competetive league.
deltablue
If you're at least in contention then I think you can get away with a near miss, especially if other factors (like cup runs and wage bill) are in your favour. No guarantees though.
