Hi I'm Kenny O'Conner, ex Arbroath centre forward. I played semi professional football for four years until I was 25 when I broke my leg and three years on I'm still not fully recovered. I thought about becoming a manager and got nowhere.

Last week my whole life changed for what I hope will be the better. I was at home on the computer looking at some new boots for my son who has just turned six. The phone rang, Ella my girlfriend answered it. She entered the room, "Its for you Kenny" she told me.

I took the phone and a voice on the other end said " Hello, is this Kenny O'Conner?"

"Yes it is, who is speaking?" I replied.

"It is a representative of the Scottish FA" was his answer.

Suddenly my heart was in my mouth. "Would you like to take the job of the Scottish national team?" he asked.

"I would of thought so." I answered with a massive grin on my face.

I was told the details of meeting him for a press conferance the next day. I could not believe it! He didn't tell me why I was chosen and I couldn't think of an apparent one. I told Ella and my son Jay. They were extremely shocked and excited but Ella was scared she might lose me. I told her its not like managing a club because I wouldnt have to go to training very often and we could stay in the same area.

Sunday 8th 2007.

All night I couldn't sleep, at 6:30 am I got up and had breakfast. My meeting was at 13:00. I waited for hour on end and eventually the clock read 12:30, I packed my bag and set off in our family car. It was a 25 minute drive to the restaurant the representative was already there sitting in the corner of the restaurant. I walked up and sat down. He told me all about the deal and expectations. I didn't need to think and accepted the offer straight away.

Our first game was Lithuania at home on the 8th of September. I am expecting an easy win and reckon this should happen.

Writers Notes :

Database - Small

Leagues - England (League Two Above), Scotland (Third Division above) and Ireland (First Division above).

Game - FM 08.

Any comments appreciated!!

Today unknown Kenny O'Conner was named as new Scotland manager. The decision was said to have made fans feel disgusted and betrayed. O'Connor is an ex Abroath striker. He has naever managed a club in his life. Many players have told us that they are 'angry' and 'embarrased'. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Are the fans right? Will I ruin this country's team or can I make them brilliant? Well you never know really. My favourite saying is "You can do anything you wish if you put your mind to it."
