Indiana Jones
Hi folks. I was gunna post this idea in the wish list but I thought it might get swallowed up so to speak. Anyway I have had an idea for future versions that I will share with you. Basically the idea is I would like to see football players biography section expanded on. It would be great if human managers could have access to a players biography to edit and share them via steam. Not all of us are clued up on lesser known lower league players and obscure foreign youngsters so I thought it would be beneficial to all for this section to be fleshed out. I have provided a couple of edited examples of what I mean below- Original James Hanson profile. Notice the 'Biography' section in the bottom right hand corner - My edited James Hanson profile. Notice the edited biography- Here's another example. Iuri Medeiros original profile. Again look at the bottom right- And here is my edited Medeiros biography profile- What does anyone else think? Especially the game makers!
forameuss
Where is this extra information sourced from? Is it local to your own copy or shareable? If it's the latter, wouldn't that be massively open to abuse?
Indiana Jones
the info would be sourced from the web, magazines, personal knowledge, etc. I guess it could be open to abuse, but so could modded players pictures or modded edited updates. you just download from trusted people/sites. at the end of the day, the players info on players attributes comes from amateur researchers opinions anyway so why cant this be expanded on? Administrators Neil Brock Posted August 7, 2015 Administrators Share Posted August 7, 2015 Would be a huge amount of text to store in the game not to mention the problems with translating it for non-English players. Main problem would be, would people ever actually want to do it, or see it when it is in game?
Administrators Lucas Posted August 7, 2015 Administrators Share Posted August 7, 2015 Why not just create a note for the player, and then copy/paste that wherever you use it?
Indiana Jones
its just an idea and I've obviously mocked things up. My main thoughts is rather than just sign a player based on his stats, why not have a bit of a fan or internet profile biography adding a more human aspect to the players list of stats. Rather than the game just churning out in the bio if the player is known, where he's from, how many goals he's score, etc....you can see that already in the history! Say I had just started as Bradford city and I was from Iceland? I thought the whole point of the game was to make it as realistic as possible! I read the biography and you get a more HUMANISED character rather than seeing James Hanson has 17 for heading. you're the ones that put the biography thing in. I say expand upon it. id love to see it and would love to work on it. an 11 for PASSING doesn't sometimes do a player justice. sometimes you need read up a bit on a player and get behind the attributes. Indiana Jones
football manager has moved on from, "spread sheets". a detailed background on the player you are signing wouldn't go amiss. its how top clubs operate these days. they want a personality behind the stats. Indiana Jones
tbf I don't know what the programming stuff would entail, but out of the 2 examples I've shown you, I know which I prefer.
