mikcheck
Hello guys. Here is a situation that i can't understand the movement. In this 1st image you can see the opp team with the ball, you can see my striker (STCR advanced forwad), number 11 on the shoulder of number 15. In this second image, we take the ball and number 23 prepares to make a pass to number 25, who is completely free. But the situation is that my striker here starts to go too much to the right. And here you see that when 25 has the ball, the striker is already far away from him, opposed to the first image where he was closer and more central and he choose to not make a run. Then a pass to number 20 was made. Formation: This is the situation that i dont understand this movement from a intelligent and fast striker. I feel that he shouldn't deviate so much from his position and should've maybe make a run as soon as number 25 has the ball. Thanks!
Dictis
This is interesting, what do you think they should be doing? The move to the Left wing is good as oppo RB is not tracking - what happened after? I would have thought that 20 would have run diagonally towards goal (if) - which would have made the RCB come to him- opening up 11 and 25 to attack the space left behind/into box...? Either way you're 3 vs 2/3 Were you after an attempt to beat offside trap and in picture 1? I would thought you need more direct and risky passes? Also make sure 11 is not roaming or moving into channels. The AF could be looking to move the LCB out of position to leave 25 an unmarked run at goal? rninejr
Some important aspects to determine a player's movement when their team has possession is team shape, role, n formation. Can u please post the screenshot of your tactic, along with the team shape? U cant ask someone to tell u why your car cant move without giving him permission to look inside some specific parts
Cougar2010
Difficult given the limited info but my best guess would be: In image 2 it looks like he makes a run for the direct ball over the top, it doesn't come and he realises he is offside therefore checks his run and drops into the space between the opposition DL & DCL to make himself available for a pass. Benoit2
Seems to me he moves into channel, an instruction given by default to an advanced forward.
mikcheck
Hi guys. Thank you for your replies. Dictis, after that pass, the first touch of number 20 was not very good and he lost some ground to number 4 who was already well positioned by that time and he couldn't cut inside after that, however near the byline he beats him and made a pass for a running midfielder who scores. My striker is an advanced forward so he has move into channels and roaming as default. Maybe he just did the best and i'm just here complaining with no reason. You are right, i should have also posted the formation. It's a save from FM12 though, but i'd still like to know your opinions. I uploaded the formation in the opening post. Thanks. samdiatmh
I think it also looks like the striker is trying to draw the defender toward him (man marking) leaving a big gap in the middle for your AM to run on to
mikcheck
Thank you. Maybe he really did the best thing in that situation
wereldbol
i think as change of role into a poacher might achieve what you are looking for. a poacher tends to stick to the centre of the pitch and tries to make runs beyond the last defender. Farina
Seems to me that the movement of your #11 made the opposition defence shift to the right, leaving more space on the left for your #20. Without the shift the opposition #4 would have been in a better position to intercept him.
mikcheck
Thank you for the replies. Farina,i didn't think about that possibility and i suppose it's a good one also!
Farina
I don't know whether the striker 'consciously' was trying to achieve that, but it's part of the job of a striker to drag defenders out of position with his movement.
