Get The Most out of A DLP?

Recommended Posts

Hi, I am wondering if anyone can help me get the most out of toni kroos? I bought him in my liverpool save thinking that he would be a good addition, but all he ever does is play sideways and backwards passes. The rare times he does pass forward, his passes are always cut out. As a result he has been pretty bad, usually averaging a 6.8. I have tried everything to get more out of him, I have switched his tole from BBM to AP-s to DLP, even playing him as an AMC sometimes but still he lacks any kind of creativity. I usially run A 4-3-3 with him, henderson, and bender in the center, with Depay, Sturridge, and Sterling as attackers. High tempo, shorter passing, play out of defense, close down more, control mentality. Is there any way I can get more out of him? right now i'm going to start benching him more often but that would be a grievous waste of his extortionate wages.

At first glance I would recommend removing "more direct passing" and replacing it with "pass it shorter". By default playmaking roles have mixed passing setting and more risky passes so there is no need to have more direct passing. Second, I would add "roam from position" for Kroos.

Third, make sure that Sterling as IF-S has roaming also plus get further forward. Fourth, you need to reconsider Sturridge's role because a Poacher is a very limited role and can lead him from being isolated especially from your DLP Kroos. Consider and try the following roles instead: CF-S, F9-S and DLF-S.

And lastly, you might also want to consider having someone more involved than FB-D as your right back. Since you have IF-S as AMR, you could go with a WB-A/CWB-A (which would mean using more conservative role on the left back - WB-S/FB-S for example.

In a nutshell....you need to set up your DLP properly and surround him with options. Good luck.

Instead of direct passing, you may want him to learn tries killer balls often(high passing and vision needed) so that he can deliver the final pass for a goal. An assist will give a player higher ratings. And if he is a good set piece taker, also make him take the set pieces.
