Time for tough talking...

Recommended Posts

My players always seemed to get stressed into the red the moment I said anything in team talks more demanding than just 'having faith' etc. And this didn't do too well in creating green either. And when it came to matches there was a motivation problem. So enough I thought, time to talk tough. Aggressively going after the team even for average performances when we won, and it seems to have done the trick. I've had an up turn in results because they have become a better and more clinical unit.

My main problem however, is when a negative team talk isn't appropriate, even a calm 'I'm pleased with the result and the way you've played' results in a 'looks delighted' where the team talk info states that it looks like the feed back wen to his head. But this was always the case even before I turned nasty. And it does mean I still get slow starts to matches.

Is it possible to give a positive post match team talk and not have them go all gooey on me? I can hardly turn on them after a 6-2 mauling of Sunderland!

its been discussed before that green and red responses dont necessarily mean good and bad, a red response can have a positive impact on the pitch, just like a green motivated response can have negative effect on the match engine due to over confidence etc, so i wouldnt worry to much about green and red, just make sure your getting the right message across to begin with.

I don't why there's this fear of getting 'red' reactions.

If you keep spamming "have faith", it'll lose any effectiveness as it's getting over-used - and the team talk feedback screen will tell you that.

You need to balance your team talks more. Don't over-praise the players for a start. After a 6-2 win, they do deserve praise of course, but remind them of expectations in the next game.
