Kelron
I'm looking for tips on how and when to sell players to get the best deal I can for them. Buying I'm happy to leave up to my director of football, as a decent director seems to be able to get better deals than I ever manage myself, but when adding a player to my unwanted list he usually comes back a day later saying he's failed to find a buyer. I'll give 3 examples from my current club: - My team's 'star' player keeps attracting interest from major clubs. However his performances don't seem that great and I don't feel he's irreplaceable if I could get a good price for him. Since the AI is reluctant to make offers, should I try and offer him out? If clubs come back with lowball offers, can I push them much higher in negotiation? He's valued at £15m currently. - Striker I signed for 11m in the summer isn't performing, currently valued at 10m. I think it's part inconsistency and partly that he's not used to my tactical style. He still seems to be a decent player and he's young, so I think I'll keep him around, but how do you sell players in this situation? He has promise and value, but his poor form means he doesn't attract any interest. - A decent but unneeded player has asked to leave as he's not getting game time. He's getting a bit old but he's only valued at 1m and I think he'd be a good player for slightly lower tier teams than me, who I'm sure could afford him. I tried offering him out at value but had no interest.
vozzon
I found when managing the bigger teams, if you can make it further in the champions league the more interest you get for your players (obviously lol) . So if there is someone I look at selling i try and give them as much CL playing time as possible. If you can make it to the final your players value also goes up so i look to offer them to clubs with transfer listing them a week after the final. I normally do this in my yearly arsenal save with Giroud, Podolski and Carzola. There good enough to play in the big matches and get a huge fee if they play well in the later stages of the CL. torrista9
I've recently started trying to sell players that I don't want. I know that I have to put them on my unwanted list but I don't know how to do that. Is there a special link or something that I have to use? Can't seem to find an "add to unwanted list" option in the menus/player options. thanks.
Quinby
Torrista, pretty sure you just right click on player then lists then add to unwanted list. Your director of football then would sell him.

MANUMAD
Like THIS: http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/football-manager-2013-discussion/106431-how-sell-my-player-thread-raikan007.html Still works generally speaking but requires patience and an understanding that you wont be able to sell everybody and those you sell wont necessarily be at double value. But I generally sell people at considerably more than they are valued.
fmfan74
I had similar issues selling dead wood. I had to find another way to sell my players. When you see your player is attracting interest from mamy teams what I do is offer the player to all those clubs. Go to transfer status look at the list of teams on left side of screen there should be two options. One to sell and one to offer player to teams. You need to select that and the do a search for the team interested in the player. You have to do that every time for each team. Then you can choose at what price before clicking confirm button. I have to do this manual process because director is useless in this area. Don't forget this is limited because it doesn't allow you to work on clauses to the team interested. Instead it sells the player at what price you set. I have a 32 million pun player who has a lot of interest from teams but is yet to be sold at the age of 23 go figure. The contracting side of the game has lagged compared to other features of the game. Much improvement can be made.

There we are guys, problem solved. Just get to the CL final while playing someone you want to sell.
