Nah, I'd say championship. Maybe a season out of him for a relegation battle in the prem league. He is a decent coach if you ask him to stay in football after retiring.

I'd say as a premier league player, if you need a creative spark as an impact sub then he's the boy. Absolutely phenomenal championship player, plus thank you for bringing to my attention how good of a coach he is, he's now a player/coach for me.

Signed him for Birmingham on a couple of thousand a week, but he picked up an injury right at the start. Should be coming back into the team now, and so far I've been playing a 4-1-2-3, with a winger one side, inside forward on the other, and the striker playing as DLF(S). Will Del Pierro perform well in that role for me, or should I switch the team around a bit to have him as a trequartista?

You'd probably have to switch the position, he's got the vision but not the physicality. I'd recommend a False 9 more then a trequartista but both should work..

Would false 9 or trequartista work with the W(A) at AMR and IF(A) at AML, or would I better of having an AM(A) or SS(A) at AMC to play off Del Pierro? I've been using Donaldson playing as DLF(S) to put through the wide attackers and also get into the box for crosses, would I still get the same effect with Del Pierro playing F9 or T?

Sorry if these are basic questions, only just getting started with properly making tactics, previously just played FM12 and made a basic tactic and stuck with it.

That's the beauty of the game, it's all theoretical suggestion! There are far too many factors to give a definitive answer. But i have played with a similar tactic myself and based on that i'd say you were fine with the two IF's on the wings (they would need to be effective) in attack mode and the F9 supporting them both.

What sort of midield do you play??

The AMR is a winger rather than inside forward, which is why I'm a little worried over whether a F9 would still get into the box. I guess I just have to try it out!

In my midfield, I have an AP(A), DLP(S) and behind them is a DM(D). Though occasionally the DLP is changed to a CM(S) or BWM(S) with a sub based on what I feel is needed in the midfield mid-game.

  • 4 weeks later...

Del Piero has 5 goals and 15 assists for Pro Vercelli after I used him as an AMC(a) (with More Risky Passes) in a 4-3-1-2. He can't run or do much, but make room for him and he will pick out beautiful passes. Lethal from dead balls, too. Took a team predicted to finish 20th into 5th and the playoff hunt.

I signed him for my Bundesliga relegation battle with Darmstadt, but overall am disappointed with him. In the first half of the season, he was good enough to be completely pressing resistent and always finding the right spot to pass the ball, but from winter on, he lost strength and loses the ball easily after a tackle from the opponent.

Update: 6 goals and 15 assists for Pro Vercelli, the last goal coming in the Playoff final. He also scored his penalty in the shootout that got us promoted first season. This is kinda a disaster, though, since we're completely unprepared for Serie A and will likely go straight back down.

He's now an U18 Coach/Player who may come off the bench occasionally in his 41st year.

Fowler stopped playing 3 years ago...

Henry, technically last year..

Trez 2014 ...

I had a wonderful save with FC Metz on FM14, where I convinced a 40 year old Robert Pirès to come back to the club where his professional career began and win promotion to Ligue 1. Great fun.

He also only stopped his professional career 2015.
