Maw74
Just the easy option really.
anagain
Easier than programming a whole series of fixture changes for one season where the world cup is a winter thing.
Spurs08
They'll presumably have to do it at some point though, but if it actually goes ahead in Qatar I'm sure changes will be made to competition formats in real life to accomodate. For instance, in England the teams qualifying for Europe may be exempt from the League Cup for a year, which would play on European matchdays rather than it's normal spots, with FA Cup replays also stopped. Dates normally used for the League Cup or for FA Cup replays could then host league fixtures to make up for the stop for the World Cup.
RTHerringbone
A lot of the problem was that a number of countries simply haven't considered how they will reschedule their domestic calendars to cope with Qatar. So, in the absence of anything to base the calendar on, SI took a sensible and pragmatic approach.
Marabak
Surely the easier option was to leave it in the summer in Qatar? Computer simulations don't suffer from the same extreme heat effects as real players, or at least have a "God-like" figure (i.e. programmer) able to tone down the temperature or install climate controlled stadiums

XaW
It usually go to Mexico in my games... Though, I think I read somewhere someone from SI said it was done in order to not screw up the fixtures of most leagues since it would be in the winter. RBKalle
Isn't it weird? I mean, we can't have red cards for violent/unsportsmanlike conduct AT ALL in the game, not even with newgens for legal reasons (or for fear of legal repercussions), while it's possible to have the WC relocated, despite Qatar still being the official host? I don't necessarily see a problem with it from a practical standpoint, as rescheduling the fixtures of all the qualified nations, which will vary from save to save, would have been a nightmare. I just find odd how they went for such a bold move while they have been erring on the side of caution about a regular occurrence in football. Good for SI it's "only" Qatar, so they'd probably won't be as fussy as China was about Taiwan and Tibet some years ago...

There are no legal reasons for excluding violent conduct. Unless they are hardcoded in the game and directed at an individual person. Lots of folks like to crow that FM is a simulation; it stops being a simulation when any negative but realistic aspect of the sport is excluded.
