Ivan787
I'd like to open this thread with a question that is a really annoying issue from many years. I'm Inter FC and I have a young player (Gnoukouri) that in my opinion could become an important player in the future but in the first season, due to many central midfielder and lack of European competition, risk to play very few matches. Mi idea is to loan him but the questions are: - Loaning him in a team where he can plays regularly but have a worse training facilities is a bad choice? - Is really useful loaning young player? In this case how can it be profitable? Thanks a lot.
OrientTillIDie
Yes loaning can be very beneficial. However as you pointed out, a clubs training facilities will play a big part. This is generally how I play out the development of a youngster: 1) First year in the youth team - just leave them there. Change their individual focus sporadically throughout the year if you think something needs specifically developing. 2) Consider loaning out as a rotational option to a team with decent facilities. If a youngster plays too much while they're too young it will be detrimental to their development. Similarly, playing in a losing team will not benefit them either. 3) At this point they should be 17/18 years old and hopefully much improved from where they started. Now they need to be looking at first team football. Reject any offers where they want the player as anything less than first team. Manager and coach ability, training facilities, reputation of club and form of club will all play big parts so consider these as well. 4) Now they need to be on the fringes of your first team. Play in cup matches and bring on as a sub, initially when you are winning so they get a nice morale boost. 5) By now they should be a fully fledged member of your squad. Obviously you need to consider tutoring as well. Let me give you an example... On FM14 I had an Orient save. In my first intake, I got a 5 star striker called Alan Barlow who was awesome looking even at 15. Kept him in my academy until the summer. First full year in my academy, I signed big Jon Parkin who has amazing determination and a good personality specifically to tutor Barlow. I don't think I played Parkin more than 5 times but Barlow's determination went up from 10 to 17 and he became a model professional. He was the top scorer in my youth team by miles. Second full season, I loaned him out to Hearts. No idea why they came in for him (I was in the Championship at this stage but I still don't know what they were thinking because he was still really raw). He only played about 10 games all season but their facilities were better than mine which helped. Next season when he was about 18 or so, I loaned him out for a year to Cheltenham in League 2 where he scored 16 goals in 35 games. Next season (still in Championship), I kept him as a backup in my first team playing him in cups and slowly introducing him to the first team. By the end of the year he was my first choice striker and had managed to get to double figures. Got promoted to the Prem and he scored 20 goals minimum every year and became my all time leading goalscorer by the time he was 26. Was England's number one striker and went on to be their highest ever goalscorer, amassing 83 goals in 91 games.
Yankee112DK
I play as Inter as well, and Gnoukouri is no doubt a fantastic talent! I kept him for the first season, which was probably a mistake. You have Guarin, Melo, Brozovic, Medel and not least Kondogbia for your central midfield so it is tough to find time for Gnoukouri. For the second season I sent Gnoukouri on loan to Nice, where he has been playing regularly in the Ligue 1 - perfect for a player of his age. This has seen him grow tremendously, and I'm considering bringing him back for the 3rd season. Possibly, though, he will go on loan to a good spanish or italian side. Miravlix
Loan is useful, because computers never tire and will keep nagging you to place players on loan. Only way to make them shut up, is to loan out the player.
