23rd January: Oldham (H) SkyBet League One (27/46)

Five minutes into the game we took the lead as Angel headed in from a S.Morsy cross. On the 15th minute we had another chance with a powerful effort from R.Humphreys which had the Oldham keeper at full stretch to save. Eight minutes later though Oldham came close as they beat my defence with ease and fired towards goal but T.Lee saved well. Just after the half hour Oldham had another chance with a powerful effort which was diverted wide by I.Evatt.

Half Time Score 1-0

I made one change at half with C.Herd coming on for L.Graham. On the 49th minute Oldham had another chance after C.Ragian failed to clear a ball but luckily the Oldham effort was as bad as the piece of defending. On the 62nd minute I made another change with S.Hird coming on for I.Evatt. Seven minutes later S.Ebanks-Blake came on for R.Humphreys. The change worked as on the 71st minute substitute S.Ebanks-Blake headed in from an Angel cross to secure us the three points and a first win in twenty three games

January 30th: Colchester (A) (28/46)

Colchester were the better side and on the 8th minute we had the assistant referee to thank after he ruled out a goal for a so called foul on I.Evatt. Ten minutes later they came close again with a curling effort which had T.Lee at full stretch to tip over the crossbar. On the 27th minute we finally had our first chance as D.Talbot crossed into the area but L.Novak headed the ball over the crossbar. With three minutes remaining in the half Colchester took the lead they deserved as C.Harriott beat I.Evatt to a loose ball and fired it with pace past T.Lee. However Colchester failed to concentrate after the goal and on the 44th minute we levelled the scores as Angel headed bravely past the Colchester keeper.

Half Time Score 1-1

I made a couple of changes at half time as C.Herd and S.Ebanks-Blake came on for L.Graham and R.Humphreys. The changes seemed to work as we started to control the game and on the 53rd minute we came close with S.Ebanks-Blake rattling the upright from just outside the area. Three minutes later I made my final change as S.Hird came on for I.Evatt. On the 66th minute we took the lead as new signing AJ Leitch-Smith ran onto a D.Talbot through-ball and fired under the body of the Colchester keeper. Twelve minutes later we came close to killing the game off as L.Novak's free-kick curled just wide of the post after S.Morsy was brought down on the way to goal. Deep into injury time we were caught on the break as M.Sondell finished off a great Colchester counter attack to fire under T.Lee

February 6th: Walsall (H) (29/46)

A pretty poor first half by us as we failed to deliver more than a couple of passes together. Luckily for us Walsall weren't much better but on the 35th minute they had the chance to take the lead as they beat the offside trap and fired towards goal but T.Lee saved brilliantly to deny them.

Half Time Score 0-0

I made a couple of changes at half time with C.Herd and S.Ebanks-Blake coming on for L.Graham and AJ Leitch-Smith. Six minutes into the half the first goal was scored as M.Preston headed in from close range after C.Ragian failed to collect the ball. I made a change straight away with S.Hird coming on for I.Evatt. Just after the hour mark Walsall had another chance with a low effort which had T.Lee scrambling along his line to save. We just weren't at the races and the honeymoon period was well and truly over for me and my side

February 9th: Millwall (H) (30/46)

Six minutes into the game Millwall had the chance to take the lead as they broke through my defence with far too much ease and fired towards goal but T.Lee managed to block the effort. On the 25th minute they had another chance with a thunderous effort which had T.Lee at full stretch to save. Seven minutes later though Millwall were reduced to ten men as B.Webster was given a straight red for a lunge of L.Graham. However this didn't seem to affect Millwall as on the stroke of half time they took the lead as L.Gregory headed in from six yards after he was left unmarked in the area

Half Time Score 0-1

I made a couple of changes at half time with C.Herd and Angel coming on for L.Graham and A.Smith. Six minutes into the half I made another change as J.O'Shea replaced AJ Leitch-Smith. On the 54th minute the change seemed to work as Angel crossed into the area and J.O'Shea headed in past the keeper. Ten minutes after the goal Millwall had another chance to score from the penalty spot after C.Ragian fouled in the area, however luckily for him T.Lee guessed right and saved the penalty. Millwall were all over us but they failed to grab the winner they deserved

To be truthful ed, I've never really thought about trying a challenge, but I decided it would be a good way to get used to some of the features of FM16. I really enjoyed the challenge but you'll have to wait till the end to see if I become the hero or the villain

February 13th: Bury (A) (31/46)

The first half was in truth pretty dire as both my side and the Bury side seemed to struggle to string more than a few passes together. We failed to register a single effort on goal and at half time I laid into the players for their lack of effort.

Half Time Score 0-0

I made a couple of changes at half time with C.Herd and S.Hird coming on for I.Evatt and A.Smith. Eight minute into the half we took the lead as S.Ebanks-Blake ran onto a R.Humphreys through-ball and dinked it over the onrushing keeper. However our joy didn't last long as on the 57th minute T.Pope broke clear of the defence and fired past T.Lee who was pretty slow to get down. After the goal I made a change as J.O'Shea came on for the AJ Leitch-Smith who had a dire game up to now. Bury were piling forward and on the 81st minute they grabbed the three points as A.Tutte curled into the top corner after my defence failed again to close him down

February 20th: Coventry (H) (32/46)

We were outplayed in every department and on the 15th minute we went a goal down as Marc-Antoine Fortune beat the offside trap with real ease and fired under T.Lee. Three minutes later it was two nil as J.Fleck fired in from the penalty spot after a poor challenge by I Evatt. On the 29th minute we came close to going a further goal down but T.Lee performed heroics to deny the Coventry attacker. With ten minutes remaining in the half M.Tudgay grabbed Coventry's third with a well struck effort which took the slightest deflections off I.Evatt to beat the keeper

Half Time Score 0-3

I made a triple change at half time with Angel, S.Hird and J.O'Shea coming on for I.Evatt, A.Smith and S.Ebanks-Blake. The changes were pretty much a waste of time as Coventry carried on the forward pressure, however it took them till the 79th minute to add a deserved fourth goal as A.Phillips headed in with real ease after some pathetic defending

February 27th: Wigan (A) (33/46)

Not a great day to be a Chesterfield fan as we were outplayed again and on the 25th minute Wigan took the lead as C.Davies ran past my defence with real ease and fired under T.Lee. Eleven minutes later it was two nil with C.Davies again doing the damage with some great play which ripped the team apart. It was getting embarrassing and on the stroke of half time they came close again with a low effort which beat T.Lee but not the upright.

Half Time Score 2-0

The second half was seven minutes old when C.Davies completed his hat-trick with a rasping effort which T.Lee failed to get a hand onto. Straight from kick off Wigan intercepted a stray pass from S.Ebanks-Blake and C.Davies finished the move off with a wells truck effort. On the 61st minute I made a change with J.O'Shea coming on for S.Ebanks-Blake. Three minutes later we finally had an effort as L.Novak hit a long range effort from 30 yards which beat the keeper into the top corner. I made a change after the goal with L.Graham coming on for I.Evatt. On the 70th minute I made another change with R.Humphreys coming on for L.O'Neill. Wigan had one last effort with four minutes remaining in the half as they beat the offside trap but T.Lee finally managed to save a shot

I know what you mean ed, Unfortunately the other teams in the relegation battle have managed to pick up results when I did etc..As Fergie said "Its squeaky bum time"

March 1st: Gillingham (H) (34/46)

We started poorly again and on the 11th minute L.Norris gave Gillingham the lead with a fine strike which beat T.Lee with ease. Soon after though we had our first chance of the game as S.Ebanks-Blake ran through the defence with ease and fired towards goal but the Gillingham keeper saved well to deny him. On the 33rd minute Gillingham had the chance to take the lead but before the striker had the chance to shoot C.Ragian slid in and cleared the ball.

Half Time Score 0-1

Six minutes into the half I made my first changes as R.Humphreys and J.O'Shea came on for L.O'Neil and S.Ebanks-Blake. On the 58th minute we levelled the scores as Angel crossed into the area and S.Hird ran in unmarked and headed past the Gills keeper. However our joy was short lived as five minutes later Gillingham retook the lead with L.Norris tapping in from close range. After the goal I brought on E.Dieseruvwe for L.Novak. On the 75th minute we had another chance as R.Humphreys ran in from the wing and crossed towards J.O'Shea but his header was pretty tame and went straight to the keeper. Just before the final whistle we had another chance as Angel hit a curling free-kick just wide of the post. A much better performance

March 5th: Doncaster (A) (35/46)

Another poor start saw us a goal down on the 17th minute with C.Main doing the honours from just outside the area. Ten minutes later Doncaster had another chance with a low effort which A.Cairns managed to tip around the post. On the 31st minute Doncaster grabbed a second goal as P.Keegan beat the offside trap and fired under A.Cairns. Just before the break they had yet another chance after C.Ragain's loose pass was intercepted but luckily the Doncaster effort was as bad as the pass that led to it.

Half Time Score 2-0

I made a change at half time with C.Herd coming on for S.Ebanks-Blake. Six minutes into the half I made another change as O.Banks picked up a knock and was replaced by D.Gardner. On the 59th minute Doncaster tried their luck from outside the area with a powerful shot which A.Cairns tipped onto the crossbar. Two minutes later I made another change as L.O'Neil came on for D.Talbot. On the 74th minute we finally had a change to score as C.Herd headed a L.Novak cross just wide of the post. However yet another poor performance and if we carry on like this we will be in League Two next season

March 12th: Swindon (H) (36/46)

Swindon began the better and on the 7th minute they came close with a rasping effort which had A.Cairns at full stretch to save. Ten minutes later they had another chance with a great team move which split my defence apart but D.Talbot timed his challenge brilliantly in the area to deny the striker. On the 26th minute we took a shock lead as S.Hird lumped the ball upfield and O.Banks hit a brilliant volley past the keeper and into the back of the net. However on the stroke of half time Swindon pulled a goal back as H.Ojamaa sprinted past my defence with far too much ease and fired under A.Cairns who was slow to react.

Half Time Score 1-1

I made a change at half time with C.Herd coming on for L.Novak. We started the half well and on the 51st minute we retook the lead as S.Ebanks-Blake showed some skill to beat his marker and cleverly dinked the ball over the keeper who was just off his line. Ten minutes later I made a change as D.Gardner came on for J.O'Shea. On the 66th minute I had too make another change as L.O'Neil came on for Angel who seemed to be struggling. Twelve minutes after the change L.O'Neil ran onto a O.Banks through-ball to beat the defence but the Swindon keeper reacted well and smothered the ball at his feet. With three minutes remaining in the game we had our last chance as S.Ebanks-Blake failed to connect with a S.Morsy cross

March 15th: Southend (A) (37/46)

We actually began well and it wasn't long into the game that we had our first chance as S.Ebanks-Blake beat the Southend defence to a loose ball but the keeper saved well to deny our man. On the 19th minute Southend had their first chance with a curling effort which A.Cairns acrobatically tipped over the crossbar. Soon after we had another chance as S.Morsy dinked a cross into the area but S.Ebanks-Blake headed straight into the keeper arms when it was easier to score

Half Time Score 0-0

I made a change at half time with C.Herd coming on for R.Humphreys. Eleven minutes into the half I made a double change as J.Orrell and L.Novak came on for O.Banks and S.Ebanks-Blake. On the 64th minute substitute L.Novak gave us the lead as he curled a free-kick from the corner of the area after C.Herd was brought down on the way to go goal. Three minutes later C.Herd got his name on the score sheet as he headed in a J.O'Shea cross. We were all over Southend and on the 76th minute L.Novak grabbed a second goal with a well struck effort from outside the area. Southend were looking out of sorts but we couldn't add a further goal to the tally

March 19th: Blackpool (H) (38/46)

We didn't turn up in the first half as Blackpool piled forward and on the 20th minute we went a goal down as S.Hird fouled in the area and J.Redshaw fired in the resulting penalty. Nine minutes later they had another chance with a low effort which beat A.Cairns but not his post. We weren't getting near the ball at all and on the stroke of half time S.Hird again fouled in the area however J.Redshaw missed his penalty much to delight of the home crowd

Half Time Score 0-1

During the interval I went mad at my players and told them that first half was nothing short of pathetic. I made a couple of changes as C.Herd and D.Gardner came on for R.Humphreys and L.Novak. Twelve minutes into the half I made another change as L.O'Neil came on for S.Hird. On the 65th minute we levelled the scores as S.Ebanks-Blake ran onto an Angel through-ball and rounded the keeper to slide the ball into the empty net. We were controlling the game and with eight minutes remaining we took the lead as S.Ebanks-Blake headed a J.O'Shea cross in off the upright to send the home crowd wild

March 25th: Rochdale (A) (39/46)

We never turned up for the game as Rochdale dominated and on the 24th minute they had the chance to take the lead as they broke through my defence with ease and fired towards goal but A.Cairns saved well to deny them. Ten minutes later Rochdale grabbed the lead as L.Alessandra ran onto a through-ball and dinked the ball over the onrushing A.Cairns. Just before the break it should have been two nil as A.Cairns spilt an easy cross but luckily the Rochdale striker fluffed his effort.

Half Time Score 1-0

I made a couple of changes after a lively half time talk with D.Gardner and L.O'Neil coming on for R.Humphreys and L.Novak. Two minutes into the half Rochdale made it two nil with D.McDermott heading from close range. On the 52nd minute I made my final change as AJ Leitch-Smith came on for J.O'Shea. Rochdale were all over us and on the 72nd minute they grabbed the third and final goal with a well struck effort from L.Alessandra which rattled into the top corner. March 28th: Shrewsbury (H) (40/46)

A must win game and with three minutes gone in the game we had the chance to score as L.Novak was hacked down in the area, S.Ebanks-Blake stepped up for the kick and fired it tamely into the keepers arms. On the 22nd minute Shrewsbury had the chance to take the lead with a low effort which A.Cairns spilt but D.Talbot managed to clear. Ten minutes later A.Cairns flapped at another cross but the Shrewsbury attacker failed to capitalise. Just before the break we had our next chance as L.Novak tried his luck from 30 yards but the Shrewsbury keeper managed to get his fingers on the ball and divert it wide of the post.

Half Time Score 0-0

I made a triple change at half time with T.Lee, L.O'Neil and D.Gardner coming on for A.Cairns, A.Smith and S.Ebanks-Blake. The changes did little to up our game as we struggled to string more than a couple of passes together. April 2nd: Bradford (A) (41/46)

A must win game for us and the nerves seemed to get the better of my players as we struggled to get going. On the 13th minute Bradford had the chance to take the lead with a low effort which had A.Cairns at full stretch to save. Eight minutes later they came close again with a rasping effort which D.Talbot threw himself in front of to stop. On the 35th minute we had our first chance of the game as R.Humphreys ran through the defence and fired under the keeper but the ball went just wide of the post. On the stroke of half time Bradford had another chance as they beat the offside trap but D.Jones recovered well to deny the striker.

Half Time Score 0-0

The second half wasn't much better for as eleven minutes in B.Clarke gave Bradford the lead they deserved with a low effort which flew in past my keeper. On the 70th minute I made a triple change as L.O'Neill, D.Gardner and AJ Leitch-Smith came on for A.Smith, L.Novak and S.Ebanks-Blake. With five minutes remaining in game Bradford sealed our fate as L.James headed in from a corner to relegate us

Bradford 2-0 Chesterfield B.Clarke 56, L.James 85

A.Cairns, D.Talbot, C.Ragian, S.Hird, D.Jones, Angel, A.Smith (70-L.O'Neil), R.Humphreys, J.O'Shea, L.Novak (70-D.Gardner), S.Ebanks-Blake (70-AJ Leitch-Smith)
