Bobby_Zamora
Can someone running FM16 on Linux holiday until Jan 18 2038 and share the savegame? I suggest loading the Welsh or the Irish league so the game runs fast -- it doesn't take long. Why do this All FMs on Linux have an ingame date limit of Jan 19 2038. The game will not go past that date because of the Year 2038 bug. It was an issue on FM14 and FM15 and we just cannot move past that date. The game world continues but you are unable to play *any* match. That said, unfortunalely you can't really play longterm (aka I will bring San Marino to glory) saves on Linux. Just want to check if this is happening in FM16 too. If it is, we can log it in the bugs forum. This is a known issue that was not completely solved for FM15 -- although there were improvements last year after the bug report. I created a save some hours after the launch of the FM15 beta but since I'm without a desktop atm, I was wondering if someone is kind enough to do this in FM16. samdiatmh
so it actually doesn't need to be done on Linux at all all you're looking for is a savegame on Jan 18, 2038 and then you can download it (on your linux machine) and press spacebar, confirming (or denying) the error
Bobby_Zamora
Yeah, I know. The title is done to catch the attention of Linux users particularly the ones interested in long saves, as I am. I run a little on my thinkpad every night when there's no experiment running on it, but I am nowhere close to being done with this. If someone steps up, that would be fantastic
eple
I've put one on holiday for the night. At a guess it will be around 2035-40 when I wake up. It's on windows though and I don't have linux. Will that help?

Will that help? it will it doesn't matter on your operating system, all he's looking for is a save game (any save) that is on the gamedate of Jan 18 2038 he can then continue it (on his linux system) and see if it errors, before uploading it to the ftp to further analysis and a bug fix
eple
Ok It's progressing quicker than expected, about 1 year every 10min, but I've set it to save on jan 1st every 5 years from 2018 and on, so I should have a save from jan 2038 tomorrow if my brain if functioning correctly. forameuss
I had no idea you couldn't go further than 2038. Pretty rubbish limitation if you're playing on Linux.

SI Staff EdL Posted November 25, 2015 SI Staff Share Posted November 25, 2015 Yeah I'd never been made aware of this and there should be no reason that was/is the case. So if it can't be reproduced please give us the save via the bugs forum.
SI Staff EdL Posted November 25, 2015 SI Staff Share Posted November 25, 2015 Ok reading the other thread it was raised, I obviously never heard of it! still it sounds very odd anyway, hopefully it has been fixed by the sounds of it.
