Coaches too many? bug?

Recommended Posts

So, after a few good season with Hull City, my coaches allowed keeps going up and up. As of now I am allowed 31 regular coaches, 7 U18 coaches, 20 scouts as well as the seeminly normal amout of physios (4) and U21 coaches (3). Obviously my coaching and scouting is ranked #1.

I dont know a lot about soccer, but a coaching staff of about 70 seems quite crazy.

Never have I asked for an increase in staff either. I think when I took over the team they had 7 or 8 coaches and a total staff of about 15 or 20?

That does sound like too many & worth a post in the transfers & contracts section of the bugs forum, if you have a save before the staff allowed numbers were increased then all the better.

Ok, thanks. I was wondering where in the bugs forum I should put it. I will see if I still have a save from both before and after the coaching madness began.

X-Post from bugs forum in case someone reads it here...

Heeh, I have my Assistant doing the coaches hiring and firing and I he is just poaching all the top coaches from the top teams. I cant even imagine what they all do. I also have a transfer budget of $219+mil(USD) and payroll of $233mil (USD). I dont know what I did but I think something is fairly wrong.

Just for fun I asked for more coaches and scouts I am now allowed 37 regualr team coaches, 25 scouts as well as all the others I am also allowed.

Well, like most professional teams around the world, a high number of scouts is pretty common. If they have the money, that will have quite a bit of scouts. So, I don't see 25 scouts being that bad. It is a high number, but still in the realistic realm of possibility. But, ya as for the coaches, most clubs have only 5 or 6.

Man U - 6 coaches:

1. Ass. Man

2. First team assistant

3. GK coach

4. S&C coach/Fitness

5. First team assistant who specializes in scouting opponent

6. Performance analyst

Liverpool - 4 coaches:

1. First Assistant

2. Second Assistant

3. GK coach

4. Development coach/Fitness

Barcelona - 6 coaches:

1. assistant manager

2. second manager

3. auxiliary coach

4. physical trainer/Fitness coach

5. psychologist

6. goalkeeper trainer

Why can't SI get this right? Why do they insist that we need more and more first team coaches? So, this clearly is a major unrealistic part of the game. These big clubs have no more than an Assistant Manager, Fitness coach, GK coach, some type of psychologist/performance coach and maybe 1 more spot for another first time assistant coach. That's is it! Why can't SI program this to be realistic?

A rewrite of the back room staff system would, imo be a welcome change as I also dislike the ability to have more than a handful of staff to work with the various squads.

As you've shown most clubs get by with a manager, an assistant, a couple of coaches & a few specialists. Having a coach or two for each img training category never feels right, or realistic.

Unfortunately I'm yet to come up with an idea that I could put forward as an alternative that would avoid complaints about not being able to get 4+ star ratings across all training categories.

I agree, although I assume the really big clubs do have more than that IRL if you count everything from the assistant manager to the guy who collects the cones after training.

As for the allowed numbers increasing: Yes, it's unrealistic, but does it really matter? Just don't use all the spots you're given. Of course, if you don't want to deal with staff yourself and let the DOF hire them, I can see how it would be a problem if he insists on filling the roster...
